Re: The Beast of Veroigne
At the mention of the reward Balir lights up and nods. After all that is why they were there in the first place. And as his companion throws the tower into the conversation, he decides it is time chime in "Das ist richtig! There is a tower out there which has been infested with vampires of the worst kind. I have just been to the Archives and learned that there was supposed to have been a magical ward on the tower preventing the fiends from leaving, but we saw evidence that victims had been taken to the tower and killed. So the ward must have been weakened. Perhaps time has taken it's toll on the magic ... who knows."
Balir deliberately leaves out that if the barrier had actually been broken it was most likely done by themselves, as that would quite certainly mean there would be no reward for killing the vampires. Naturally, Balir would have wanted to clear out the tower either way, as there had been plenty of evidence of a great silver treasure in the tower, but he had never been one to turn away from a bit of extra coin. "So we were wondering, if possibly the baron would be interested in offering a reward for preventing a vampiric infection from spreading through his lands," he added hopefully, while tip-toeing enthusiastically.
