In reply to Kirpich Rockson (msg # 146):

The elemental punches through a thick scale with the pick, wedgi g it inside the creature.
Aethul's stab skitters accross the scales ineffectively.

Snorri cleaves into a scale for minimal damage.

Balir wounds, but does not cripple, another leg, greatly unballancing it.

It rips its head, now encased in a bouldee, from the earth, and flails blindly about.

Balir takes another huge swing at the creatures leg, and lands a fearsome blow.

All the while, he thinks to himself 'I should be trading weapons with Chunky'.  The little rock pile was almost ineffective with the pick.  However, Balir is just too attached to Earthwarden, his axe.  He can't bring himself to do it.

[Private to GM: Been obvious for a while Balir should be using the pick.  He just can't do it, though.  I finally decided on a will roll to see.  He failed.
13:34, Today: Secret Roll: Balir Ironhide rolled 13 using 2d6+5.  Balir will roll at -2, self imposed.

In reply to Balir Ironhide (msg # 148):

"That is it, Chunky! Now pull it out! See if you can rip that scale off!"

He gets back a little further and starts resting...hoping the boulder around the creatures head will start to suffocate it...soon would be good!

In reply to Balir Ironhide (msg # 148):

The clumsy elemental looses its grip on the pick, as its fists are not for tools.

Balir, on the other hand, cripples a third leg, causing the desperately struggling beast to crash onto the ground.

Balir steps clear as the monster topples over, and goes to work on the last leg on his side of the beast.  Unfortunately, as it is still flopping around, he just cannot hit it squarely.

[Private to GM: All out attack mighty against the 4th leg on this side.  Once this is crippled, he will go back up to the same side front leg again, and see about a full amputation, so it cannot heal up.

14:18, Today: Secret Roll: Balir Ironhide rolled 10 using 2d6+5.  Balir 2d+3 with Earthwarden +2 mighty.

In reply to Aethul (msg # 154):

Balir Draws blood, but does not cripple the limb of the flailing beast.

Snorri does minimal damage to the rear leg on the opposite side.

Aethul bypasses all armor on his first strike and successfully strikes the vitals!

The second attack barely scratches the heavy scales, however.

Chunky readies the pick.

Marlena with a crackle of green sparks attempts to Destroy Water, but much like Create Water, it cannot be cast inside a creature; The spells Dehydrate and drown would permit those weaponized versions of water spells.

Balir continues working the leg in front of him.  He wants to cripple it completely, so the creature  cannot use any of the legs on this side.

[Private to GM: I believe this would be the definition of "average".  Should still do a few points though.

With the creature now crippled, but potentially healing, Balir wastes no time.  He returns to the front leg, and takes another swing, trying for a full amputation.

[Private to GM: Pretty good shot this time. 14 points of cutting damage.

Can we slow-time dismantle this creature now, leaving the concrete around the head intact at least until the head is removed from the body?

Balir will take care to remove all of the legs, one at a time, to make sure that they do not reappear.  And, should the vampyres somehow get a hold of the creature, it should not be able to move even if some magic affects it.

As he works, Balir grunts "Good work."

OOC Balir wants to do that too, he's just busy making sure this beast has no legs to stand on.  As soon as he is done he will also be collecting as many scales as he can carry.

Balir isn't a mage, but I'll mention that anyone who happens to be one might want to collect spell casting components like it's spleen, etc.

Balir will take extra care and move extra slow in doing his recovery of some scales.  And he will mumble about Federjung while he does it, and the glory of killing such a fearsome beast, almost singlehandedly.

[Private to GM: Looks like he might make it!
13:54, Today: Secret Roll: Balir Ironhide rolled 7 using 3d6.  Balir IQ-5 default with maximum extra time, etc.

[Private to GM:  14:51, Today: Aethul rolled 8 using 3d6.  dungeon butcher at IQ-5. That's IQ-4 would his skill as a hunter, and thus animal butcher (to field dress, cut into manageable loads, knows how to save the Heart and other organs) give him any + for this endeavor?]
