Chye sings a sobering melody, as they drink tea...

THE MOON AT THE FORTIFIED PASS

"The bright moon lifts from the Mountain of Heaven
In an infinite haze of cloud and sea,
And the wind, that has come a thousand miles,
Beats at the Jade Pass battlements....
Sahud marches its men down Baideng Road
Whilst barbarians peer across blue waters of the bay....
And since not one battle famous in history
Sent all its fighters back again,
The soldiers turn round, looking toward the border,
And think of home, with wistful eyes,
And of those tonight in the upper chambers
Who toss and sigh and cannot rest...."

James and Percival muster away their forces, including the Merry men of Monsieur Hood , Chung and Xu. Are any joining this revolt, or do we return to Northport?

OOC: I am less enthusiastic about the sky iron, but I owe my loyalty to the Omo, and my job at present is to see the rice safely back to Northport and Little Sahud.

Saishi has no loyalty to Omo, and would not leave unless it was in the interest of the villagers for him to do so, ie to support the revolt. To leave back to Northport would be very hard for him to justify.

"Ideally, I would stay and help the villagers. However, the Omo will probably want his rice to feed the populace of Little Sahud. Also, I would like some of this space iron to study. "

Ales gathers his bag and prepares to leave.

"If we do attempt to retrieve the fallen sky iron, everyone must be aware that magic, at least as I work it, does not function properly near that place.  We will be reduced to defending ourselves and those with us with muscle power only.

"And in all honesty, I am not certain I could even survive approaching such a large piece of sky iron closely.  Much about me is very different from natural beasts and men."

"If we travel in two separate groups in the same caravan, you ought to be okay. You for example, ought to stay with the rice, and the iron, we will need to stay behind a ways, so you can use your magic. The priest can stay with us, since the divine overcomes such barriers."

*gods*
Local religion is a synergistic anamistic polytheism. You cannot worship wone without giving respect to the others in the heirarchy, and when you cast your agricultural spells, you not only infoke the god and goddess of farming, but also the spirits of the earth, the rain, and of each type of plant you are blessing.
