As he makes his way back to the house, Chou-Zhen will attempt to determine whether Tekeli-li has grown in the two or three days since it appeared.

"I found the congee before the sky metal reached the smiths -- and as you might notice, it has grown a bit.  Tekeli-li seems to consume life and power for its sustenance.  We should likely consult someone about its future -- perhaps an augurer, or perhaps a sage."

"Who is Damocles?  Is he a threat to us?"  The strange yellow mage pauses for a moment.

"It may be that there is a limitation to its growth.  This is why I suggested an augurer or sage, who might be able to foretell or look up in a book information about such things."

"I will not allow him to be banished without reason," Ales said, speaking up. "Maybe the solution to Tikki's growth issue can be found in the Omo's library. He seems to have many books on all sorts of exotic topics. I will seek information there, if no one objects."

Re: Pequenauds] in the Swamp

"He was a ruler who had a certain sycophant in his court who didn't understand the constant peril the ruler was in, despite the opulence in which he lived. So, he offered to let him live as he did, for one day... during a banquet, he looked up, to see a sharp sword suspended over his head, by a single horse's hair.... so, it's a figure of speech to mean a most dangerous situation, Senyor..."

Re: Pequenauds] in the Swamp

Chou-Zhen's inhuman face assumes an unreadable expression.

"That is clearly neither an Aralaise nor a Sahudese tale.  Aralaise would have used a mechanical trap, most likely armed by him taking his seat and triggered if he tried to rise, while Sahudese would have had a demon of some sort hanging from a spider's web.

"But I agree with you, Ales, and would offer my assistance.  I have some skill in research, read rapidly, and may be able to add the knowledge I have from my father to what we find.  I wonder, however, whether we should take Tekeli-li to meet the Omo, since it will seemingly be within his house for a time, or keep it away in case it might have been sent by an enemy?"

Re: Pequenauds] in the Swamp

"I fear you may be right, Chye.  Though it clearly does not consume mana, else it would have avoided the sky metal rather than be drawn to it.  The same is true of sanctity, but in the opposite way.

"It may well be that the energy it needs is that of the endless void of my father's realm, though it did say 'energy and life', which concerns me.  There is more life of people here than in the wilderness where it was created; but there is far less of the natural life of a forest or field.

"I think we should observe it to see if it seems drawn to certain things.  If it mainly consumes the chaos energy from between the stars, it should stop growing once the sky metal is broken up and forged."

"You speak truly, Saishi, but do not forget that we were already near the sky metal when the accident occurred.  Your spell failure might have momentarily opened a door for something -- or it might have simply been one of those strange accidents that seem to follow me around, like the incident in the Guild stables the day after I joined."
