Re: Return to temple hill

Stenet slaps the chain aside with his shield, blocking Melchizidek, and then prepares for the demon's next attack...

OOC:  Wait, interrupt with an Attack to disarm the chain on the demon's next attack.

Spending 1 FP on Feverish Defense.

00:06, Today: Stenet Fjall rolled 9 using 3d6.  Sacrificial Block 17 (Skill 15 - 2 position + 2 Feverish Def + 2 Higher Purpose (Demon Slayer)*).

* Forgot I had that until after I rolled.

In reply to Ginko Bitterpetal (msg # 213):

Ginko blinds its left eye, and grazes the right. The demon pulled out of its dive after being sliced in the thigh by the leaping gnoll, and retracts its hooked chain before looping back for another go at Mel, this time from behind!

It tries to swat away the pesky pixie- dodge Ginko! (Or take 6.pts cutting!)

He frowns at Stenet... he wants to fight this evil too ... but he moves away and sheathes his sword, loading a bullet for the little pests.

Looking for doom brats, he doesn't notice any... he wonders if he should return to the fight with the demon.

Re: Return to temple hill

The demon was like most big things and lacked to focus to deliver a blow that could really threaten the flighty pixie. Ginko flaps and spins away from the swat and evades harm by a wide margin. The fight was turning against the demon after his surprise attack fell flat. Already it had on blinded eye and had taken a wound to its leg. Ginko is shocked to see it circle about for another pass rather than to flee.

Instantly suspicious of what seemed to be a solo strike when the beast was so largely outmatched the pixie climbs sever yards into the air to get a good look around. This attack could very well be just a distraction.

OOC: Retreat 3 yards skywards as part of his dodge. Move 11 yards higher on his turn and take a look around for more attackers both above and below.

[Private to GM: 17:22, Today: Ginko Bitterpetal rolled 10 using 3d6.  dodge (aero, retreat, change plane) - 17.

17:16, Today: Ginko Bitterpetal rolled 12 using 3d6.  aerobatics - 18.

Goran feels the power of Hors flow through him, and feels satisfied that he has done what he can to protect his fellow priest.  With Stenet guarding Melchizadek in the front, Goran guards his rear, and also scans for other threats.  There was mention of more doombrats, but he has not seen them.

OOC  Wait, and attack or defend if anything hostile gets within reach.  If the demon attacks Melchizadek, Goran will try to block or parry it as best as he can.

While Urrun has gone noseblind to the stink of the little demonets because of the foul musk of the flying demon, Ginko can see three of them heading toward the sun priest. Singlemindedly, the half blind demon is focusing on charging at Melchizadek from behind (last turm was a move only) and is winding up the chain to strike!

[OOC: What would it take to use the staff to ensnare the chain on the next attack to pull the creature earthwards? A successful parry?]

[Private to GM: Rolled Last dodge, was 14, so without Stenets help, he would take damage. DR 5 armour from last encounter helps somewhat...]

Ginko shouts and points. "Three more right there!"

He remains where he is and calls out as the situation changes. He wanted no part of dealing with the exploding ones and had contributed well enough to fighting the big one to trust the others to finish the job.

Remembering the words of his LADY, Ginko looks for a body of water in which the small demons can be drowned.

Sorry the dice roller froze and I hit it a second time. The 15 was my first roll. I was going to attempt an area knowledge as well at default to know if water was nearby, can use second roll.

In reply to Hograth Podkarmen (msg # 224):

The demon's chain strikes a glancing blow, doing only 7pts before DR.

Disarming the chain cannot be done with a staff; either a hooked weapon or hands gripping it and a contest of ST, or a strike to the hands... the weapon is about 5yards long, and the chain needs be ensnared . A staff won't  do for that purpose.

The crossbow bolt appeared to do some severe damage, but wasn't enough to kill it.

Ginko spotted a pond not too far away.

Attacking to disarm them of their knives(-5) can prevent explosions. They do not have significant claws or teeth and are too weak otherwise to do damage.

OOC:  Technically a staff can.  It's an attack to disarm, and is -5 (-3 for attacking a reach 2 or greater weapon, -3 for not using a fencing weapon).  If Mel, or Stenet hit (Normally the demon could defend with a Parry or a Dodge, but as Kusari are -2U on Parry and it attacked, it can only Dodge the attempt to disarm... which makes no sense), it's then a Quick Contest of Weapon Skill (either party may opt to use ST instead of DX).  The demon gets +2 if he's using two hands on the weapon.  Which means the attack to disarm is likely to hit, but fail to disarm.  Note, if the demon attacks to disarm, it's at -5 to hit Mel's Staff and -6 to hit Stenet's axe.  It then gets a +2 on the Quick Contest because it is using a Kusari weapon.  So the demon would be less likely to hit, but more likely to succeed.

Re: Return to temple hill

Stenet takes a step and turns to block the attack against Melchizedek's back, and then strikes at the chain attempting to catch it with the beard of his axe and pin it between axe and shield...

OOC:  Wait triggers, Stenet turns to face the attack (Step), Blocks the chain, and then Attacks to Disarm.

18:04, Today: Stenet Fjall rolled 11 using 3d6.  Block 17 (Block 12 + 3 DB + 2 Higher Purpose).

18:07, Today: Stenet Fjall rolled 9 using 3d6.  Disarm 14 (Axe 17 - 5 Disarm + 2 Higher Purpose).

If the demon fails to Dodge, it's then a Quick Contest of Weapon Skills.  Stenet will opt for ST to use Extra Effort bonus to ST...

18:16, Today: Stenet Fjall rolled 7 using 3d6.  Extra Effort, Will 15, ST bonus.  MoS +8 for a 40% increase to the next roll.

If there is a Quick Contest (IE demon fails to Dodge)...  Stenet turns and uses his weight and strength to give the chain a hard jerk attempting to yank it from the demon's grip.

18:22, Today: Stenet Fjall rolled 9 using 3d6.  Axe 27  (ST Based Skill 17 + 8 Extra Effort + 2 Higher Purpose).

Demon made its roll by 9

OOC:  It's a QC of Weapon Skill (DFRPG Exploits pg 37).  We can use ST for DX, if it's stats are unchanged from the book (and making a ST roll by 9 when rolled an 11 it looks like it)... it would have a ST based Chain skill of 24, so it makes it by 13 (if it's Chain skill is higher than 16, adjust accordingly).

Stenet made his roll vs ST based Axe by 18.

18:16, Today: Stenet Fjall rolled 7 using 3d6.  Extra Effort, Will 15, ST bonus.  MoS +8 for a 40% increase to the next roll.

18:22, Today: Stenet Fjall rolled 9 using 3d6.  Axe 27  (ST Based Skill 17 + 8 Extra Effort + 2 Higher Purpose).

This is why Holy Warriors have such high Wills.  Extra Effort and ignoring Evil mind control.  Our two main reasons for high Wills are Extra Effort, nigh-immunity to Mind Control, and almost fanatical devotion to our gods.  Among our, no... our chief reasons for... no...

Look I'll just come in again shall I?
