Re: Return to temple hill

Seeing where Goran is running, urrun finally figures things out... sort of.

He pulls his sword and starts after Goran, who will need help, being a human.

Same as last time, when everyone (except Hograth) hies off in one direction, Stenet turns to make sure nothing is coming up on their rear.

Re: Return to temple hill

Goran advances until he is almost to the creature, then slows to approach it more cautiously.  He circles to the side, so the Bouda can try to flank it.

[Private to GM: He missed the shield block, but I'm not sure the demon was going to hit him this round.   He might be OK.  In my mind I was thinking 2 hex range until Urrun arrives.  He'll circle to one side, choosing the terrain that best fits his morningstar and board (no tree branches, open ground if possible, etc).  Your discretion.
18:10, Today: Secret Roll: Goran the Marked rolled 9 using 3d6.  Goran 2d+2 flail damage.
18:10, Today: Secret Roll: Goran the Marked rolled 12 using 3d6.  Goran flail 15 if the creature gets in reach.
18:09, Today: Secret Roll: Goran the Marked rolled 14 using 3d6.  Goran Shield Block 13 if attacked.

Ginko takes a moment to observe the situation. Knowing his own limitations he approaches each situation with a cautious intent.

OOC: Evaluate the winged demon.

[Private to GM: At what height is it flying? does it look like it is readying its chain weapon after swinging it at length?]

Re: Return to temple hill

In reply to Melchizidek (msg # 197):

The demon was flying about 8 yards uo, and had flung out its 2 yard chain down towards the pixie, who was at least 3 yards above ground (the demon had dove from about 20 yards to launch the chain downward to the pixie from above)

Only missile weapons have reach, like the sunbolt that Melchizadek has just raised in his hand.

The demon gathers its chain for another go, and flys toward Melchizadek,  who will be subject to attack at the same time he fires the bolt.  This will leave the demon 2 yards above Mel.

[Private to GM: Urrun is 7'2" and with a slight stretch or small jump,  should be able to reach. I'm figuring a 36" + reach and a 30+ inch sword. ]

Re: Return to temple hill

Ginko grins as the demon foolishly flies past him to lash out at the priest. One of the fundamentals of aerial combat is to protect your wings. Flying both behind and above the creature he now has a wonderful angle to test it's wing strength.

Ginko darts into the creatures back and unleashes a flurry of strikes designed to cripple its ability to fly.

OOC: Step into CC (Using up to 3 hexes of step) or Move and attack(heroic) if he is further away. Four punches into its left wing from behind (He would have had to fly past me to get to Mel so I'm assuming his back is now turned to me).

[Private to GM: 08:04, Today: Ginko Bitterpetal rolled 12 using 3d6.  punch 4. (telegraphic +4, wing -2, SM difference equals bonus to hit?, assuming effective skill for punch 1 is 14, could be higher)

08:04, Today: Ginko Bitterpetal rolled 9 using 3d6.  punch 3. (skill 14)

08:04, Today: Ginko Bitterpetal rolled 13 using 3d6.  punch 2. (skill 14)

Goran will give chase, and seek to hit the creature when it lands.  But, he is really slow.

I removed one die roll because I rolled damage with 3d6 by mistake.

In reply to Goran the Marked (msg # 202):

Several things happen:

The demon does not dodge the bolt, but manages to stay in the fight despite this.

Ginko beats ineffectively on its armored wings. Its scaly hide repels the blows.

Thirdly, it strikes (from 4 yards up) at Melchizadek with its hooked chain, delivering  9 points crushing unless dodged or parried at -5, or blocked at -3

Seeing how the fight will fair against this foe Stenet shouts, "Urrun, switch with me!  Get out your sling and deal with the cowardly imps!"

Then he moves over next to Melchizadek.

OOC:  If close enough, IE if he could Step, he Step and Waits to Attack the chain.  If not he Moves, and then prepares to Sacrificial Block for Mel.

Goran will keep on as before.  Running with an attempt to hit the thing, if it gets within reach.

[Private to GM: First choice will be to smack the thing.  Are the previous rolls OK?

09:06, Today: Secret Roll: Goran the Marked rolled 9 using 3d6.  Goran flail 15.

If he can't, he will put 2 points of shield on Melchizadek for 4 (-1 for skill) fatigue.  If Hors approves of course.

Re: Return to temple hill

Ginko rubs his fists thoughtfully. The beast's hide was too thick to injure it by conventional means, but there is more than one way to knock a flier to the ground. Changing his tactics the pixie simply remains in close with the demon and inhales sharply next to its ear.

OOC: Step to remain in CC and to its rear and Kiai.

[Private to GM: 22:57, Today: Ginko Bitterpetal rolled 12 using 3d6.  Kiai - 13.]

OOC:  The demon is 4 yards in the air.  Unless you have a Reach 3 weapon, are SM+1 or greater, or using a ranged weapon, you cannot hit it.  That's why Stenet is requesting you switch targets, I have a plan to take it out of the air.

Re: Return to temple hill

In reply to Stenet Fjall (msg # 208):

"This will leave the demon 2 yards above Mel."

Now Mel is likely around 5' 8 or 10" and Urrun is 7' 2", with long arms (Probably 38" or more) and a long sword... say 30-32" ... so two yards above Mel is likely very much in reach for Urrun. And his sword is magical, so it may indeed do damge as well.

Re: Return to temple hill

OOC:  Your height doesn't matter.  You count as a 2 yard tall creature (as long as your're SM 0), with I suspect a Reach 2 weapon?

In that case, eh...  it's a tough call.  If the bottom of it's feet are at 16' feet up, that's 5 yards.  You can clearly hit it if it's at 4 yards up...  you may need to jump to hit it at 5 yards up.

Re: Return to temple hill

In reply to Stenet Fjall (msg # 210):

Urrun is SM+1, being a bouda barbarian.

His Reach 1 weapon  is effectively 4 yards up. The demon is flying horizontally(or diagonally with a horizontal posture) and isnt dangling its legs, but kind of diving in to get at Melchizadek.

Urrun make a jumping roll and your attack will stand(what was damage again), -3 for the speed of the creature, +1 for SM+1, total-2

Stenet, block at -2.

Gorran,  the spell kicks in next round.

Ginko, your shout was resisted. You are still in close range of something that has both hands occupied, and its eyes ate not protected by DR the same way
The SM sifference betrmween you means you only have -3 to punch it in the eye.

Re: Return to temple hill

Jumping is the trained skill (as for long jumps or the like), but page 203 says use DX or Jumping  skill, which ever is higher... there is no default. As I read it everyone can jump, some just do it better with training.
I'll let you decide on a minus adjustment, but he is "fit" so in shape.
