That was Gareth's plan, but he does not want to split up the party...

To the top.
Was just looking, the way one would, but no deviation in footsteps.

In reply to Amelia Montaigne (msg # 439):

the area described was the ground floor, Safwan met you on lower level 1. you are ignoring this area (one of four archways- entrance, vestibule to one side, golem room  in the center with archways back to the entrance, south to the down stairs you just came back up through, north to the up stairs, and east to somewhere else.

Yes, ignoring the area (apart from taking notes and mapmaking) and continuing to the top.

Re: The Black Tower

In reply to Berry (msg # 446):

the spiral stairs up are made of the same black stone as the walls and floors that have not been covered with wallpaper.

unlike those rooms, there is no such design. the staircases (so far) have been devoid of decoration, at least as far as most of you can tell...
[Private to Berry; Gareth; Safwan; Var: each step has a dim blue glow on the front of the tread, and there are similar spots on the walls every few yards]

[Private to Gareth;Berry: the stairs are illuminated by magelight]

What light source is being used?

This stair ends in a chamber with two doors, one single, one double.

"Ah, indeed, magelight. The rest can use the light spell I cast onto a gem in my Bo...or a torch if any want it."

His Bo had continual light cast onto a gem that embellished it.

In reply to Amelia Montaigne (msg # 455):

He seems a little embarrassed, obviously not used to compliments.

"I try..." he says, handing her a torch.

"Want me to light it?"

[Private to GM: Flame Jet, if requested, 8 under skill, minumum size to light torch.]
If she wants, a jet of flame shoots out and lights the torch, perhaps scorching the wall behind it, since he makes sure he does not point it at anyone.

"Well, if you keep doing so well at trying," encourages Amelia, "..that would be nice." She nods, "Yes, please. If you would." She rewards the volatile mage with an encouraging smile. It might not be much, but it's a start and feeling more comfortable to be around him.
