This is some sort of solstice celebration?  ;)  The solstice was days ago, marked this year -- once every several centuries -- by a very close conjunction of two bright planets.  Given their symbolism (power and gluttony), and the predictability of the event, I'm rather surprised the astrologers didn't predict this past year's import, if not its events.  Or perhaps they did, and the media sensibly ignored them.

It's entirely possible Jareth just got the Oceanic Expansion of Wingspan with that kind of language.  :)

I wish I knew a non-violent, non-confrontational way to get the people I work with to wear masks.  At least one is a rabid Trumpie, and the only thing that'll convince him is dying of Covid-19, but the others are a less-rabid disbeliever and "I can't wear that thing all day."

Despite being in the orange zone of North Carolina, and under a city mandate for the business (my employer) to require everyone in the building to wear masks at all times except when actively eating or drinking, they won't enforce the requirement.  Since my own boss apparently doesn't consider it important enough to do something, I'm afraid to complain directly to the authorities...

Fortunately, I have a long history of ignoring viruses.  Unfortunately, that history has gotten genuinely long, so I'm not as confident of sending the virus packing as I would have been twenty or thirty years ago.

I'm waiting for the muffled *BOOM*, the pause, a slight cough, and then for McNealy's hair to start smoldering while he says, "See?  Nothing to worry about, everything is under control..."
