Re: The Alchemist's Lair

In reply to Narrator (msg # 191):

"Right. If there is nothing else here, then I might just wait outside with Jednessa..."

The recent thoughts of that corrupted book return.

"Did Crispin finish off the book already? Perhaps he can join us and we can find him some nice dead wood to eat..."

She has one more look around, looking for any magical auras that are not already understood or explained, before departing.

Did/does Christine know? It is easier to ignore if she does not...it will make her uneasy if she does.

Jednesa works her way back up the stairs and carefully down the dirt tunnel to sit beside the cart.

she saw it happen.A formulary is a big deal to an Alchemist, one would be willing to scorch their hands to get hold of.

Then she will not be comfortable with it, even if she understands its value.

"McNeally, scribe those formulas onto a less offensive book if you want to keep it, and keep it out of my sight, or I might do something we both regret."

She heads topside with Jednessa.

For the time being, Masugatan stays with McNealy, making sure he doesn’t get ambushed while copying those smutty formulas.

"Even if you scrape the ink off the parchment, what's left will remain faintly visible.  Whether that would be enough to satisfy her prudishness, it's hard to say; I don't know her that well.

"It might be easier to carefully paint over the doodles -- the time for the ink or paint to dry would be the longest part of that."

Re: The Alchemist's Lair

The elder sister gets a faraway look for a moment.  "I wonder..."

Then her attention returns to the moment.

"Possibly best, then, if we just lock up the book until there's time for McNealy to either copy it, or expunge those drawings.

"I do wonder, though, if the drawings might have some meaning.  I seem to recall wizards and alchemists being secretive folks, when it comes to their knowledge."
