Re: Tavern part 3

In reply to Aldous Hack (msg # 906):

The gate and its frame aremade out of magical materials-orichalcum and adamantine- it would be impossible to force this door, which incidentally does not have a lock!

Re: Tavern part 3

Aldous sheathes his smallsword and sets his lantern on the floor in front of the door frame on the side that will open, and pulls out his lockpicks (one of which still has a light like a candle on the tip).

sorry there is no lock, which means it probably is magelocked, and lockmaster would be contested by the strength of the spell.

Instead of lockpicks, then, Aldous brings out his vial of holy water and holds his lantern well out to his left side.

In reply to Aldous Hack (msg # 916):

"Not sure. Also not sure if I could open it again if it does lock..."

Would Aine know about whether the door will lock itself again if closed?

In reply to Aine Walsh (msg # 920):

the lock is magical in nature. you would need more potent magics than you have to dispell it permanently.

the door could be wedged if you have the right tools

Re: Tavern part 3

In reply to Aldous Hack (msg # 922):

you can jam a knife between the gate and the door frame and hope it holds.

in most of the halls you have been, the decorative tile worrk has been mostly pried off the wall.... the orange and white zigzags here extend beyond the frieze at shoulder height to cover the whole barrel vaulted ceiling  of this corridor.

Re: Tavern part 3

Once his knife is wedged to block the door open (leaving only two of the small knives on his belt), Aldous moves forward in to the better-preserved corridor with smallsword at guard and lantern high and behind.

the corridor heads due west for quite a distance before ethering an intersection where the cross-corridor is sealed off with newer looking gates that have padlocks on this side.
