After the Battle
Finally, he turns around, approaching the back-up wizard. In a surprisingly normal, almost boring voice, he says, "I'm a man, not a bird. I'll never be a bird. I'll never have wings, never fly, never hatch an egg." His lame little man voice starts to warble. "I'll never know the true freedom that only a natural born dweller of the sky has as its birthright. Are you satisfied now?"
He turns back around, kicks the ground and then walks away.
"Are you satisfied now," he repeats, Hamlet-like, this time speaking quietly to himself.
