"Apparently, though, your luck can't be counted on for some things -- to find opponents in games of chance, for instance, or to protect you from the holy touch. Luck may be better than skill once, but skill doesn't run out. Say I kick you in the head. You might be lucky enough to dodge the blow once or twice, but I'm sure I can keep kicking longer than you can keep dodging, luck or no.
