Re: Against the Baron
"I must consider learning some spells of Illusion." Chou-Zhen speaks softly to the Merry Men who came along to prevent repair parties. "Meanwhile, I will need to be quick to get to the outer door and then back out of sight or range.
"Let me see, nine feet by six or so by a foot thick including some bracing, that would be a half draught of paut; convert that to stone once raised would be another two and one half. One more draught plus a half for flight for the time I will need, makes a total of four plus a half. I will need to be rested before I move in, but it can be done with my last vial of paut and my own energy.
"Let us wait until they finish closing the outer doors, and I will make them much more difficult to open."
Once the outer gates are closed, Chou-Zhen starts by casting Lighten Burden on himself and resting for fifteen minutes (to recover casting cost of 2 and maintenance cost of 1). This reduces his encumbrance to Light. Once he has Recovered that energy, he drinks his remaining vial of paut, casts Flight on himself, and moves toward the gate at maximum speed (move 8 with Light Encumbrance), stopping against the wood, where he's almost invisible from the top of the wall. He flips his leather whip onto the ramp surface, and casts Shape Earth (on the actual dirt between/under the cobbles), causing 75 cubic feet of that earth to crawl up the face of the doors, forming a foot-thick wall in contact with the wood and braces behind it amounting to about a third of the wall's volume; he then converts that Earth to Stone.
This takes only ten seconds or so at the wall (two seconds casting time, and a few seconds for the Shaped earth to move into position); with more energy left than expected, Chou-Zhen returns at maximum Flight speed to the Merry Men he had brought with him -- and likely won't need to maintain Flight.
