Kichiro's eyes darted back and forth between the Baron and Ser James. He waited to see if the Baron's promise was true or just empty bluster. He held an arrow in his hand, ready to go at the first sign of treachery.

Chou-Zhen's voice is barely a whisper: "Is there a healer about?"

"Baron, perhaps if you renounce your evil ways, maybe your God would see to fit to heal you. Who knows, maybe even the priest your men are escorting out may even take pity on you and ask his gods to intercede on your behalf? But, that would require a lion to lay down with a lamb...."

Ales shrugged.

Kichiro turned to the men who were escorting Saishi out of the area.

"You men! You had best unhand the priest if you want the Baron to live.  That holy man may be his only hope.", he said with a no nonsense tone in his voice.

"He seems very confident in the faithfulness of a woman he believes was poisoning him."

Saishi moves to the dying man, assuming from his words that he is poisoned, and checks with Sir James. If he approves, he will pray for his recovery...the process will leave him physically drained if James approves and he does it.

Ales ponders the situation and considers  Bresnek's character and comes to a conclusion....

Bresnark always liked to see hos enemies defeated through his creations- poisoning was against his character.  He might choose the wrong side, but he was never a dastard.

Lowering his voice to a whisper himself, he replies to Chou, "I don't think he was the one behind the poisoning. He prefers to let his creations do his dirty work; poison was just not his cup of tea."

"Well, at least a worthy enemy, then.  Which leaves the question of who was poisoning the former Baron -- and if not the Baroness Lorraine, will they continue against Ser James?"
