Seeing that the tense situation seems to have settled down somewhat, Kichiro returned his arrow to it's quiver and slung his bow over his shoulder.  He eyed Ser James new troops to see if their posture had changed any.

The men still wearing the red, black, and gold seem perturbed by the idea of the transition. you suspect many will abandon service to the Barony.

of course, some will remain with the Baron.

Kichiro waited for a lull in the unfolding events and then went to address Ser James.

"Ser James.  A word if you don't mind.  I have been watching the troops here in the keep and they look to have doubts about the transition of leadership.  I would suggest that you put trusted men on guard at the armory and treasury, to prevent theft before the present Baron takes his leave.  I suspect many will desert their posts or go with him.", he said in a quiet voice.

The issue for Ser James appears to be that  until the Baron stepped down, James recognized his authority for matters outside the challenge- this is a function of his code of honor.

Making Sure James and those that assaulted the city under his command, and therefore by extension himself, outlaws? The Baron did order his surrender, as I remember.

OOC:  I believe that James is basically saying just don't summon the wasps again inside the town walls.  What's done is done and he's moving on to more important matters.

Since he is being accused of disobedience, and the only disobedience was rior to the Baron handing over power, that suggests ramifications for us all...

There had been a written challenge that was sent, with listed consequences  that were expected. Once the challenge was accepted, the terms were still in effect, and basic rules of hospitality and court etiquette still apply.

Champion generally implies such. This is not robot wars, he has to be able to choose to serve and compete and win if he is someone's 'champion', because a thing cannot be a champion. They would be disqualified from any competition. Remember , he was his champion before this duel.
