Unsure of the local protocols, the elder sister stays silent, smiling without showing teeth, and keeps her hands away from her weapons.

"Our friend, Jednessa, has accepted their surrender, though I have advised her that she may be required to relinquish them to local justice. I seek an audience with the great dragon."

"They are Jednesa's now.  Jednesa not enemy of dragon people.  They are not enemy now."

Masugatan turns away and picks his teeth.

She turns to her friend

"Do you understand and agree to the conditions of entry, Jednessa? Please, no fighting, and allow justice to be carried out for their actions.."

"Jednesa has sworn.  Harou has sworn."

In reply to Jednesa (msg # 169):

"Yes, I heard plenty of swearing, but will you follow local laws?"

Jednesa looks confused at the very concept of "local laws", so much so that her 'outdoor voice' returns.  "Other law than Camilla's Law?"

"Yes. As I said before, we are on the land of the dragonfolk. We must abide by their laws. Those that surrendered to you should also abide by their laws, but they broke the laws when they attacked us. Justice calls for them to stand trial for that."

Her voice lowers to an almost conversational level, "Only Camilla is law."

She straitens up to her full height of eleven and a half feet, squares out her shoulders, takes a deep breath seemingly to swell in size, and when she speaks she is addressing everyone in the very large hearing distance "Jednesa swore to gnolls, to Harou.  Jednesa is Hero."

In reply to Jednesa (msg # 173):

"Jednessa, we discussed this. Camilla is only law in Northport. We are now in Dragon lands. This means we follow their laws. You must agree to abide by their laws, or lead the gnolls outside of dragonfolk lands and wait for us at the borders. We cannot support criminals here and will expect the dragon to help us, and we need their help."

"If dragon priest say Christine must die for attack dragon soldiers, Christine will follow law?  Jednesa will not."

In reply to Jednesa (msg # 175):

"I have made every effort not to break the law. The gnolls attacked us in rebellion against the law. We want no part in that rebellion."

"I have no intention of accepting a death penalty, either, for myself or Holy Sister, or for any of the rest of us.  I think that's unlikely, though.  Aside from perhaps too aggressively defending their lands from strangers, these dragonfolk seem sensible and the bouda appear to have honor."

“I swear to obey the local laws just as faithfully as I have the laws of the land where I was born.”  Masugatan sucks in his gut and gazes honorably at the sky.

"I pledge to be as honorable as Masugatan. "

In reply to Valerie (msg # 179):

the path ahead is narrow, only three yards wide, and descends into the vale in a switchback style.

In reply to Narrator (msg # 180):

"Well, Jednessa, I always like having you around and I will defend you, but we accept the law here, so if you come with us, you have to as well. Otherwise you should wait peacefully outside with your gnolls friends. Please don't allow them to cause our mission to fail."

With that, she and Chris start down the road.

"I understand your reluctance, Jednesa.  I also don't know how you'd get that cart down that narrow path and around the sharp bends -- maybe if you and enough bouda manage to lift it to turn each time, but that seems risky, too.  Probably best if you and they stay up here unless the priest down below summons you -- and leave the cart here if they do."

The sisters take their backpacks from the cart, help each other make sure they're well settled for steep and narrow, and (slowly, with the combined weight of packs and armor) set off after Christine.

"Coming, Masugatan and Valerie?"

OOC: Both sisters at Move 2 with packs.

"Jednesa will not agree to what Jednesa does not know.  Jednesa will wait here."

Masugatan comes along, swinging his arms dutifully and whistling a merry tune.
