Jednesa just stands there, keeping one eye on the gnolls.  If the Frog Sisters move to try to get to her eye, or get between her and the gnolls, she'll gently move them out of the way and say, "Deal with eye after all fight over."



OOC:  Polite reminder, Jednesa is SM+2, so all spells cast to heal her are cost times 3.  However, she has 36 HP, so all spells cast to heal her also enjoy a times 3 effect multiplier.  Lastly her Magic Resistance 3 means spells are harder to cast on her.

Emma has the technique to ensure the extra cost of healing FP for Huge critters is not effecting her. Does that mean she heals more HP though with each casting of say major healing?

OOC:  If you have the Perk: Huge Subjects (Major Healing) lvl 2, then yes, for you Major Healing would cost normally, but heal Jednesa 6 HP per FP* you spend (and you can spend up to 4 FP or your Power Investment level whichever is higher).  For anyone else, Major Healing would cost 6 FP* to heal 6 HP, or 12 FP* to heal 12 HP, etc.  Jednesa was built to take loads of damage (and avoid loads via high DR), but not heal very well...  (though my next big purchase will be Very Rapid Healing which will increase her healing rate a bit, to x4 instead of x3)
* Before accounting for high skill reductions.

Evelina waits for Jednesa to sit, crouch, or kneel -- otherwise her eye is too far away to see well, never mind touch.

OOC: Umm, you mean 3 FP (before skill discount) to heal 6 HP?  Major Healing normally heals 2 HP per FP expended...

OOC:  Yeah, sorry, back pain causing mental short-outs.  x3 cost and x3 effect unless you have the Huge Subjects (Major Healing) Perk, which can be taken up to twice per specialization and reduces effective SM by 1 per level taken (and thus at maximum would make it x1 cost and x3 effect).

Jednesa stomps over to the Drgaonmen Leader, or at least the one who accepted their parlay before, "Do Dragon people eat other people?"

With things calmed down, the elder sister approaches the (presumed) unconscious Bouda and starts to triage, first, to find if there's something critical (like major bleeding or not breathing), then begins to diagnose.

"Holy Sister!  This one needs your help."  Then Evelina checks for crushed windpipe or larynx, or other blockage affecting breathing, while the younger sister runs to her.

"She may be bleeding inside; I need you to stop the bleeding."

While the elder sister continues assisting the bouda's breathing, the younger kneels and lays her hands on the creature, speaking softly once again, and once that holy work is completed, begins the next with extra care and time.

With that done, she sits down heavily next to her sister and the freshly healed gnoll leader.  "I need to rest."

Christine is happy to let the dragonfolk decide what to do with the interlopers, so she just surveys her team, and checks on Crispin and the Droagonfolk injuries.

Not fully trusting the dragonmen, Masugatan tries to keep an eye on everybody, making sure no one is being interfered with.  He has no delusions about being the king of chivalry, of course, but he keeps a particularly close eye on the ladies... although he supposes they can handle themselves just fine.

It occurs to him just how far he has come since his days on the streets...

"Huh, Jednesa know what that mean."  Jednesa turns, looks at the gnolls huddled watching her, turns back to the dragonfolk leader, this time when she speaks she uses her outside voice, intended to carny for miles, "They surrender to Jednesa, they are Jednesa's people now."

Jednesa stomps back over to the gnolls, stands a yard or so back, and slowly reaches out and puts her hand on the first one's head, letting her massive hand engulf it's skull, her fingers and thumb gently curl under it's muzzle and around its throat, "Do you serve Jednesa and do as Jednesa say on pain of death?"

"I suggest we all take an hour to recover our energy and sort out the injured, then heal who we can, before resting again and then moving on. "

She looks to the Dragonfolk for agreement...

Masugatan approaches Jednesa and speaks discreetly.  "I hope you aren't thinking of trusting those things just because they swear an oath.  Besides, the dragonmen might want them for sacrifices, as prisoners, or whatever."

the leader is still unconscious, and the cowed gnolls all give assent, some more begrudgingly than others. The one being questioned when Masugatan makes his comment shakes their head vigorously at the suggestion of betrayal, but flips off Masugatan once he and Jednesa move on.

Once they've all sworn, Jednesa picks up the unconscious gnoll leader and puts them in the cart, "Put weapons here.  Water here if thirsty", she moves the water barrel to the ground for ease of access.

She then flops onto the ground and stretches out on the other side of the cart, "Jednesa rest."

“We’ll lose a lot more than our purses, if this goes sideways,” He tells Val.  “I’m afraid that some of us have customs that don’t fit this situation.”

"You have something against taking captives, or accepting allegiance from the defeated?  Seems to me like pretty normal thing, at least based on the old stories they used to tell in the village.  Much less wasteful than just slaughtering them, not to mention if they know you don't take captives, they'll fight to the death -- and that might be yours instead of theirs."

The sisters each accept a portion of the fish, and supplement it with their own rations if there isn't enough to make a meal.

Hearing everyone eating, Jednesa sits up, grabs the other barrel from her cart, opens it, and hands out rations to all her gnolls.  And then one for herself as well, relids it, and stows it back on the cart.

Gnolls eat a lot, and I am not sure we have that many. How many were in the barrel?

OOC:  Plenty.  As long as they leave in a day or two... and there's 17 gnolls though one (the leader) is still unconscious (she took a charging Jednesa right to the sternum) so Jednesa just put her ration on her chest.

Jednesa checks on the gnoll leader, then stows the water barrel on the cart, and takes up the cart's tongue ready to go once more.

Jednesa half turns so the gnoll is in her good eye's side, "Jednesa defeated you, your pack surrender to Jednesa and in exchange for Jednesa protection, has sworn to obey Jednesa."

Jednesa turns to face her fully and gently sets the cart's tongue back down, "Do you swear to obey Jednesa and accept Jednesa protection?"

"And then my sister and I healed you.  I need to check if you need additional care."

“Did the ones who escaped swear the same oath?  If so, it didn’t stop them.”

Jednesa moves slightly and subtly, but enough such that should the gnoll matriarch do something ferociously stupid it will be the last thing she ever does.


OOC:  Moving just enough to ensure the matriarch is in Reachabd prepared to take action, but being sneaksy and sottle about it.  Well, sneaksy anyway.  A little sneaksy, only so much you can do when everyone gets a +2 to spot what you're up to...

Masugatan sighs, fearing they may be in for another fight.  He readies himself.

She glances over at Masugatan, flares her nostrils and then turns to Valerie

"If Jednessa was to send you on your way, would you promise to never attack us again? I am not sure she has the authority to protect you when we go to speak with the dragon..."

The younger sister can't suppress a snicker at the bouda queen's assumption.

"Sit, boy."  She winks at Masugatan, then smiles at Valerie.

Jednesa just casually reaches over from almost eight feet away, leans slightly forward, and places her hand on the Matriarchs head, gently cupping her fingers around it.

"Do you swear to obey Jednesa and accept Jednesa protection?"

Masugatan does a few jumping jacks.

In reply to Jednesa (msg # 143):

"To you and you alone I pledge, on my honor and that of my pack."

In reply to Harou (msg # 145):

"Including those who have run off?"

"Okay, this is barrel of water.  This is food."  Jednesa pats both barrels in tandem.  "What is gnoll leader name and is healed enough to walk?"

If the gnoll matriarch says yes, they can walk, Jednesa will indicate for her to get off the cart, and then (either way) pick up the busted tongue to get ready to depart.

the other gnolls all howl her name before settling down.

Having picked up the cart's tongue, Jednesa looks about to see if everyone else was ready to leave and follow the dragonfolk to where ever.

Jednesa waits at the cart with the gnolls, having gently set the broken tongue down.  She takes a casual look about getting an idea of where all the dragonfolk are around them in case this comes to a fight.

"Thank you for delivering our enemies. What do you seek in our lands?"

Unsure of the local protocols, the elder sister stays silent, smiling without showing teeth, and keeps her hands away from her weapons.

"Our friend, Jednessa, has accepted their surrender, though I have advised her that she may be required to relinquish them to local justice. I seek an audience with the great dragon."

"They are Jednesa's now.  Jednesa not enemy of dragon people.  They are not enemy now."

Masugatan turns away and picks his teeth.

She turns to her friend

"Do you understand and agree to the conditions of entry, Jednessa? Please, no fighting, and allow justice to be carried out for their actions.."

"Jednesa has sworn.  Harou has sworn."

"Yes, I heard plenty of swearing, but will you follow local laws?"

Jednesa looks confused at the very concept of "local laws", so much so that her 'outdoor voice' returns.  "Other law than Camilla's Law?"

"Yes. As I said before, we are on the land of the dragonfolk. We must abide by their laws. Those that surrendered to you should also abide by their laws, but they broke the laws when they attacked us. Justice calls for them to stand trial for that."

Her voice lowers to an almost conversational level, "Only Camilla is law."

She straitens up to her full height of eleven and a half feet, squares out her shoulders, takes a deep breath seemingly to swell in size, and when she speaks she is addressing everyone in the very large hearing distance "Jednesa swore to gnolls, to Harou.  Jednesa is Hero."

In reply to Jednesa (msg # 173):

"Jednessa, we discussed this. Camilla is only law in Northport. We are now in Dragon lands. This means we follow their laws. You must agree to abide by their laws, or lead the gnolls outside of dragonfolk lands and wait for us at the borders. We cannot support criminals here and will expect the dragon to help us, and we need their help."

"If dragon priest say Christine must die for attack dragon soldiers, Christine will follow law?  Jednesa will not."

In reply to Jednesa (msg # 175):

"I have made every effort not to break the law. The gnolls attacked us in rebellion against the law. We want no part in that rebellion."

"I have no intention of accepting a death penalty, either, for myself or Holy Sister, or for any of the rest of us.  I think that's unlikely, though.  Aside from perhaps too aggressively defending their lands from strangers, these dragonfolk seem sensible and the bouda appear to have honor."

“I swear to obey the local laws just as faithfully as I have the laws of the land where I was born.”  Masugatan sucks in his gut and gazes honorably at the sky.

the path ahead is narrow, only three yards wide, and descends into the vale in a switchback style.

"Well, Jednessa, I always like having you around and I will defend you, but we accept the law here, so if you come with us, you have to as well. Otherwise you should wait peacefully outside with your gnolls friends. Please don't allow them to cause our mission to fail."

With that, she and Chris start down the road.

"I understand your reluctance, Jednesa.  I also don't know how you'd get that cart down that narrow path and around the sharp bends -- maybe if you and enough bouda manage to lift it to turn each time, but that seems risky, too.  Probably best if you and they stay up here unless the priest down below summons you -- and leave the cart here if they do."

The sisters take their backpacks from the cart, help each other make sure they're well settled for steep and narrow, and (slowly, with the combined weight of packs and armor) set off after Christine.

"Coming, Masugatan and Valerie?"

OOC: Both sisters at Move 2 with packs.

"Jednesa will not agree to what Jednesa does not know.  Jednesa will wait here."

Masugatan comes along, swinging his arms dutifully and whistling a merry tune.
