She begins again, this time emphasizing the gestures, even to the point of moving her feet in a complex step pattern, while speaking several strange-sounding words in a clear voice.  This time nothing odd (or weird) happens.

"I'd ask you to do me, now, but I don't think you've learned this one yet.  You can Lend me the Energy instead."

She repeats the entire process, including the emphatic gestures and steps, but tracing the circle over her own head at the proper point.

Once done, she turns back to Christine.  "Thank you for reminding me the god had taught me that.  We're ready now, let's hoof it -- that spell won't last all that long."

She drops her backpack (the younger sister follows suit a second later), and takes off after the dragonman at a jog.

the water jet does nothing but irritate the flame lord; it seems to have some degree of damage resistance.

Odd, in Magic it refers to the damage as fire damage, and uses resist fire to cast breathe steam, so I was thinking that would protect. But if not, what sort of damage is applied, so I can work out how to resist it.

She is kind of an expert in fire elementals, and I believe has fought these ones before, so what would damage them? Has any damage been done to them by the waterjet?

steam causes heat damage not fire. I reviewed the spells and resist fire doesn't help- it is injurious to ice and fire elementals though

Clearly cold is the opposite of fire, but there are almost no spells, other than icy Breath and frostbite, that actually do cold damage. Even snow jet does not...

Masugatan hurt itmore than most of these attacks.  as you just figured out that Water jet does damage if it bypasses DR but might not be something it has a weakness to, you can proceed from this point.

It just feels weird that something like geyser or steam jet would be affected by resist fire be ause of which vlasses of elemental they affect.

Pretty sure the sisters, Emma, Christine and Masugatan all have resist fire, though we will need to clarify exactly what that protects against. Christine tries another ice dagger, though it also does not seem to be very effective. Frustrated that magic learner to combat this creature seems ineffective, she considers what else may be done.

Masugatan is doing real damage, it would just seem that this creature can tske a lot of it.

you can put up to magery fp per round up to 3 rounds- so you can make a 9d ice missle.

it does crushing plus fire, but everyone in melee is resistant.

Masugatan has been dishing considerable damage, but that kind of injury hasn't killed it yet.

Yeah, but as I understand I only get high skill benefits on the initial round, so it will cost me 8 FP, making it the only attack I get, and do 9d-9 damage, so still single digits potentially with the low damage rolls I have been getting...and after another 4 rounds Masugatan will have dispatched it if I have read things correctly.

It's supposed to be a Quick Contest of ST for Elaina to break the grapple -- I haven't seen any opposition rolls?  Based on his punch damage, he's not much if any stronger than a human, so it should be at least possible for her to break loose.]

"Too tired..."

Masugatan, still in a battle-hatched brain fog, hears the words 'holy sister' and somehow imagines she's talking to him.  He heaves himself up and slowly moves to help her.

"Oh!  Holiness, I'm so sorry, I thought you were hurt!  I forgot to Lend you for the Resist Fire, didn't I?  I'm so sorry!"  She rushes to her sister's side, stoops to lay a hand on the elder sister, speaks softly for moment while bowing her head and gesturing with her free hand.

She then helps the elder sister up, willing accepting Masugatan's assistance, and they both go to join the resting group.

OOC: Evelina will heal Elaina's bruised hand and face before they sit down to rest; they'll be fully rested in forty minutes.

The elder sister now speaks and gestures, and a wind springs up around her, though it doesn't seem to affect her.  A moment later, the violently gusty circle of wind expands until it's 3 yards across as she slips out of her pack straps and lets her heavy pack fall.

wirh counterspell, you need to match the spell being cast, so it works best when the spell takes more than a second.  The caster is doing something,make a thaumatology roll to recognize.

Masugat criti all swings past an attempted block, and cleave through a spot where there is no armor (crit effect) and actuallt drops the knight to the ground!

Masugatan keeps wailing on the knight he just brought down.

The younger sister lays hands on the elder, speaks in a clear, conversational tone, and makes a complex gesture; the elder straightens and smiles, then pulls the younger into a hug.  "Thank you, Holy Sister."

There are 5 daggers, four shields, and 5 broaswords and a baton,along with 5 suits of plate that need evaluation by someone with either merchant or connoisseur melee weapons/ body armor.

If others want a dagger or anything else, they can grab it. The rest should be carried by Chris.

Ok, so we have healed everyone. All Silver Daggers taken (Christine, Masugatan, Chris, Val? and Emma). Val has a set of armour, Chris has another, not sure who else has taken a set. Several have expressed interest in the Baton, including Christine. Emma will carry the broadswords if no-one else takes them. What are the shields like?
