Re: Into the Vale

In reply to Masugatan (msg # 881):

Masugatan is unable to find anything better.  Water has been a priority for the frog sisters, being fixated on amphibians as they are.
Good news is that Masugatan will be able to put some points into survival after this trip.

You set up camp for the night, and it is not the most comfortable, nor the most secure, but that can be alleviated by watches - Who is sitting first watch>

"We'll take first and last watch -- myself first, Holy Sister last.  One other would be welcome on each, of course, and then two for the mid watch.

"And Holy Sister will set Watchdog before we sleep, as always.  Ginger, that's a magical alarm that will alert us if any creature crosses its circle with hostile intent.  No perfect against wild animals, but very useful against bandits and such."

Yes, but on guard duty Christine will have standing orders to look out for danger, protect her and wake her and all others if trouble is seen, and follow directions of those on watch, but never travel more than 25 paces from Christine. Useful assistance...

Re: Into the Vale

Ginger isn't much help in improving the camp. He nods when Evelina explains about the ward. "If I need to go behind a bush, you know, whould I set it off?"

***
Without quite being sure why they're whispering, which he quite enjoys, again without being quite sure why, Ginger replies to the younger sister's query about a second blanket, "It's nice and warm and not so small. You'd be welcome."

When Chistine asks if he'd be happy to stand last watch Ginger nods.

"No, Ginger, the spell only detects hostile intent.  Now, if you were to stub your toe on Masugatan's tent peg on the way out and still be angry with him on the way back, it might wake Holy Sister -- but otherwise it shouldn't be a problem."

In reply to Ginger (msg # 897):

"Or perhaps if you were too vocal and obvious about certain activities...perhaps if you get up to your shenanigans on your sisters watch, when Christine sleeps, it might be safer for all of us."

It might benefit those who wish to engage in such activities to help Christine overcome that fear...Psychology, anyone?

Re: Into the Vale

Once the Watchdog is set (tiring the younger sister quite thoroughly), she'll stop by the sisters' own tent for a moment.

"Yes, Holiness, I'm sure.  Do let us know if we start to make too much noise; we wouldn't want to wake Christine."

After that stop, she takes her blanket to Ginger's tent and settles in.

"We'll need to keep quiet so we don't disturb Christine; I've seen her nearly destroy a valuable find because it had an erotic illustration in it, and I don't think it's a religious choice."

[Private to Ginger: Once settled in, Elaina will admit to Absolon that she's never actually done this before, but she's wanted to try it for a good while and is very interested in learning.  Having grown up on a farm, the mechanics are obvious, but it's also clear people don't do things quite the same way as cattle or dogs.]

Re: Into the Vale

The elder sister, as she gets ready to keep awake for a few hours while watching with Christine, moves close to Ginger's tent.

"Holy Sister, you should rest from your casting now while Christine and I stand watch.  You'll feel better later if you do."
