Balir tries hard not to become sick from Aethul's comment, and instead focuses on Chye "Stirges? I have heard of those. They suck blood, right? Exactly what are they, and about how many usually comes to the village?"

He smirks at Balir's response. He doubts Balir would be much different if he was with the woman of his choice.

Balir doesn't quite understand what he means when he pinches, but he thinks he gets the gesturing with both hands "So, they are about 18 inches then? Well, that is big enough for an axe to hit them. We still don't know how many there are, but being the new owners of the dark tower about a days travel in that direction," Balir points towards the tower, "I feel we would do well, to be on good terms with our neighbours, so I volunteer to stay outside and kill the little buggers if they come this way."

The ashigaru points with his chin accross the rice paddy where you can see a dragonfly.  a duck fles in front f it briefly and you have a sudden sense of scale... the sacred guardian is a dragon fly roughly the size of a small dragon.
