She can escape easily.  it os hard to read the narrow faces of the fish folk, and you would have to descend quite a bit to get to he bottom.

"Who was that in the water?"  Ardenas looks behind as the fisherman rows.  "I'm sorry about killing your recent fortune, truly.  The things we've been finding that came from that shop were pushing the world in bad directions, though.  The last one made a man into a maniac who tried to burn a public market.  Stopping him cost me a hand, and though I got a replacement, I'm not sure yet whether it's an improvement."  He holds up his left hand and wiggles the extra wiggly fingers.
