Atticus, Gordab, Anita, and Rosewood
 are passing through the bustling street of a thousand gods on their way to the temple of Janus on temple hill.

Atticus is looking around at the sights like an obvious tourist.

various persons try to engage you in group prayer, or try to sell you talismans of various faiths.  straing past the crowd, some of which seems to be rebuilding after a very recent fire, you canjust make out the path that leads up and into Temple Hill proper.

Rosewood does his best to stay out the way watching from Anita Drake shoulders.
A new purpose in the little fairy now means he more interested in understanding and learning first hand about how others act.  One that is now tempered by an understand that most creatures are out for their own gain.

Rosewood looks around.  The dark pixie dust in his eyes sparkles.  Almost as if they were on fire.
His wings sparkled with all the colours of the rainbow.


In a low whispered voice he says.

I see you evil leprechaun.  Even if you disappear and others don't see you I do. Rosewood Says.
Mark my words.  The days of you picking on Rosewood and fairy's are numbered.

This is going to take some explaining.  But this is a long running part of Rosewood story and the game.  A odd and confusing part of the game.  Also fits with one of Rosewoods flaws.  It will make little sense once the above post has been updated...  Players smiles at Anita Drake/Aine Walsh.

occ Rosewood has been respondi g to Mis-posts in the wrong character for the thread; Anita plays about 9 characters and it is easy to accidentally post with the wrong one... Rosewood incidentally has an issue with leprechauns and the error has played into that.
just to confirm, there has not ever been a leprechaun posting in this group except by accident

Rosewood cast the glow spell on himself to make it clear to the guards he spell caster and drew attention to himself.

As a result of some complicated issues involving high ranking members of both the summer and winter fay courts I need to visit the Autumn court and most likely the spring court as well.  The others here have join me to help with my quest to seek answers.

We do not wish any trouble.  We wish talk to some people in Autumn Court, gain some information and move on.  My name is Rosewood.

Hello François and Hello Montclair.  It is nice to meet you.  I do hope we can get along well.
As I said I am Rosewood.  The human is called Anita Drake and the creature behind is called Atticus Belvedere Silexum.  To sum things up.  I was asked to leave the Summer Court.  Mab, Queen of the Winter Court ask me in person to join her realm but I did not find myself at home there.  The Queen gave me direction to come here as the Autumn Court may hold the answer to where I may find a new home.  A realm I can call home.  That is why I wish to enter the Autumn Court and talk to the fay there.

OOC:
Look around confused - social skills - Rosewood spent most of his life talking to books.  Leroy du Lac was his first friend that was not a fairy from his childhood.  Social skills.  The only social skills he has it his blunt to the point innocent honesty.  So that something he going have add to his list of things to learn.

Rosewood looks around and sees Gordab Bardson.  He so big that sometimes Rosewood just see him as part of the landscape.
Oh dear. He says.  The fairy then flys off to face the big Ogre.
I am so sorry.  I am not good at this talking thing.  Leroy du Lac usually does all the talking.  Please forgive me?

He asks the Ogre.  Rosewood is clearly upset with his mistake and does not wish hurt the Gordab feelings.

If we have been directed to go to the Autumn court, do you want to front the court, or better yet, be the cause of your superiors fronting the court, to answer why you do not allow legitimate users who have been directed by the courts to pass through? Did you not hear what Rosewood said? She has been directed by thew Winter court, no less, to attend to the Autumn court. Guarding against incursion is one thing, but you are defying the courts to block legitimate users..."

Rosewwood decide to just keep quite now.  Hoping these human where not like other he come agree.  To willing to draw a sword and hit other creatures.

If I may quote Ambrosia Nocturne, Ambassador of the Winter Court.  You need to go to the hill and find the dome where the two faced one points, and take the third door. There you will find your desire.

Rosewood looks around.

the ogrekin minstrel gently puts down his implements and turns the statue with a grunt.   it rotates until the pointing finger faces the alcove framed with pillars surmounted by composite Corinthian capitols. The space beletween them and below the tympanum wavers slightly, and the air buzzes with static charge.

he finds himself falling!

Kiran comes walking up as Atticus falls into thin air. Whoa! That's not something you see every day. Curious about how it feels, he starts tightening his straps and checking to be sure his sword is secure.

As he walks up beside Gordab he comments, "When you said the road to autumn, I was expecting an actual road. Shall we?"

Atticus unfurls his wings and stops his fall, then looks for the two others who had gone through.

Atticus stabilizes his descent and can see Anita holing onto the bore of a tree, her feet not quite parallel to the ground...


a few moments later Gordab comes crashing through the trees, axe and fiddle trailing behind, followed  by a green haired person with a greatsword!


Kiran, make a dex roll to catch yourself.

Gordab slams full into the trunk of a tree, sending a cascade of brightly colored leaves into the crisp cool air.

Rosewood slowly flys over to Atticus.
He looks down at the others.  Clearly worried but because of his size unable to help.
Having growth magic may help I feel.
Looking at Atticus he says.
Wings are so useful I find.
Then look at extra body he never see before.
We seem to have gained an extra person.  Do you know who he is?

Welcome to the strange and odd journey into and with the fay Kiran Elavalur.  You are most welcome but please your sanity at the door.  It will help you in the long run I feel. :)

Kiran slid through the gate, but did not expect to be falling through a tree on the other side.

Atticus goes to catch whomever looks in most need of assistance first (probably one of the last two falling in after him).

Gordab leans into the tree, and plants his feet on the ground.
"This is Kiran, a friend from the rooming house and a fellow member of the league of outcasts. He was out of town when the Purists strted harrassing our people."

the large magician grunts and bushes some leaves off.

Kiran sits up a bit wincing at the pain in his ribs from where he hit a moderately sized branch on his way down. He absently brushes shed bark off under his arm as he looks around. "Uh, yeah. That's me. Sorry I'm late."

He slowly picks himself up and looks around.

make a DX roll all trying to stand. there is a vertigo like sensation you can't quite escape, that down is a direction diagonal to the ground and not straight toward it. you feel like you might fall forever on a misstep were it not for the trees.

The air is crisp and the sky looks close to sunset. the trees are riotous with oranges, yellows and reds.

What direction are the trees growing? Are we on the side of a mountain? Does Anita need another DX?

As he stands up, Kiran tangles his foot in the branch he's trying stand on and falls again. What the heck! This time he just wraps his arms and legs around the branches he lands on and takes a look around hoping to understand what this space is like so he can balance again.

Rosewood has move a little to the side and a little down.  So he does not get hit by anything coming out of the gate but otherwise he not moved at all but the letting others sort themself out.  Then he join Anita.

Kiran keeps wrapped around the branch he landed on. His backpack does not and has slung itself sideways unbalancing Kiran toward his left side. Worried about the slope, he turns to look in the direction gravity is actually going and where he would end up falling, sliding if he let go.

The pull sidewais not stronger than usual "down" it is merely askew, but unless you tread carefully, could result in falls

Kiran shuffles his pack into a more stable position and tightens the straps. Rotating so his head is in a more upright position before moving down the slope, sliding, crawling or bear walking as needed. Unconcerned about the slowness of his progress, he works his way down toward the pile of leaves, making sure to stop short of touching them.

Anita will carefully join him. It seems they are on the side of a mountain to her, but the trees are wrong...

encumbered by axe and bass fiddle, Gordab stumbles from tree tobtree and into the pile of leaves, which crunch and crackle in a satisfying manner.

Rosewood flys up to see what is above the trees.  He is careful to stay hidden as best he can.
The land of the fay our laws unto their own and Rosewood know anything could happen.

the tree canopy is a riot of oranges reds and yellows.
above it is a hazy sky starting to gather the luscious reds of sunset.

you can see the forrest comes to a large clearing to the south, where a partially harvested field of corn is near a small house.

Anita manages leading the group pretty well...

Rosewood follows Anita Drake but keeps flying as it seems to be the safest way to travel here.

Atticus keeps flying above, looking at the sights.

Kiran pauses before the pile of leaves that the other just ploughed through. Apparently the leaves contain no threat.

He tries to stand up to follow along with the rest of the folks, but again looses his footing an topples over into the pile of leaves. Churning around, he eventually makes it out of the pile in a wobbling crawl toward the house Anita had indicated.

there is a faint scent of cinnamon, apples and roasted squash coming from the little house.  Gordab helps you up aout of the crunchy leaf pile and together you hea to the edge of the clearing.

stalks of beheaded grain are tied together, and scarecrows on posts guard against corvid attack.

the house is a thatched stone cottage with a high peaked roof. died herbs hang from the eaves, as do a silvered glass ball.

you can smell cinnamon and cloves , apples and squash.

there are some pies cooling by an open window.

This is undignified. Gritting his teeth, Kiran stumbles along toward the cottage. Too distracted trying to stand means that he doesn’t notice the tasty smells until he gets close. Wary himself of strange folk in the forest, he imagines the denizens of the cottage would be frightened of rough visitors. He works to make himself less intimidating....not much of a stretch in his current state.

Rosewood stays in the air close to Anita Drake.

"This skewed gravity is unsettling. But I forget my manners. I am Anita, and this is Rosewood. We have some new friends joining us as well, we are seeking the Autumn court. Do you know of them?"

Kiran hauls himself on the side of her door, still trying to keep his balance. He looks at the young witch, smiling.

"Good day. Thank you for the welcome."

Once he stumbles through the door, he does wipe his feet.

Rosewood drops to the floor and wipes his feet.  Then flies back up to face the lady.

Thank you for your welcome.  As Anita said I am Rosewood.
For reason I like not to go into detail I am courtless.  I am seeking to understand all the different courts the fay have.  It seems the Summer and Winter courts don't like talking about the other courts.  My intentions are peaceful and I wish to have good relationship with all the court if possible.

Rosewood is as often the case to the point and maybe a little to honest.

The truth is I seek to understand the different realm that connect to the human world and the creatures that live in them.  I wish to build a realm where fairy and pixie can live in peace without begin bullied by other fay.  I also seek to create a large liberty of books.  A personal enjoyment I have.

He finds somewhere to settle.

Would you be kind enough to tell me about yourself and your home please?  Oh and my friends and I are sort of adventurers so we may be able to offer help as long as does involve hurting others.

A realm where wood and paper do not burn but metals do.  A realm where the movement of wings gently keeps you flying.  But I will have to be careful.  Still much to learn.

Kiran is leaning on the door jam, still thinking about his uncertain footing. He's barely looked around the interior. He does listen, and perks up at the hope she offers, "How long do you think before we can get our bearings?"

in addition to the three women, one young, one mature and one old, there seem to be a few cats, many dried herbs, a loom and shelves with jars, books, and curios. The place is clean but cluttered, and smells of cinnamon and patchouli.

I think I am confusing you.  I am thinking out loud.  It was a suggestion of something that was possible if you can write your own laws.  It was an idea from a book I read but I just realize it was possible.

He turns to the three ladies.

Would you tell us more about this place you live it.  How large is it?

Being a librarian I would ask.  What are the names with ruff locations of all the creatures that own books in this realm so I could contact them to allow me to read as many of these books as possible please?

Rosewood nods and smiles at the Mature witch in appreciate of what she had just called him and the information she had just given.  My years maybe longer than most fairies but even so I will always have much to learn.  However he turns slightly to the Older witch.  Partly because she was the one in charge and partly because the Mature Witch had not given a full answer to his question.

If for easy of play you want to create the list later and me move things along I am happy for that to happen.  As long as Rosewood gets a reassemble answer to his question.  I also take it that was not a wasted question :) .

The game of three questions has a long and great history in the fay culture.  The fact you allow me to take part is an honor.  It is also my understanding that it is just as much about the intelligence, wisdom, motivation, integrity and honesty of the people that play it, than it is about the information given.
I am happy with the answer.  I have learnt much and have much to learn.

With that in mind and using a saying of a poet I enjoy reading.  Who said.  How can you ask where the treasure is if you do not know their is treasure to be found in the first place.  Or that treasure is even a thing to you.

I would ask.  What do you think is the most useful peace of information you could pass on to me that you think I do not already know about this realm?

We are happy to wait and talk to Karen and Becky for a while if need be.

I don't remember anything about a market.  I thought the lady with the apples whas ment to show us the way.

Rosewood wants to go and look at the market but the sight of goblins make him unsure.  He now sees a value in having a all powerful queen incharge of a fay land.  Here anything goes as nobody seems to be here to keep the rules in check.  Then he realise.  What are the rules anyway.  They are unclear.

The market itself fills the clearing with all manner of booths and tents; you are surprised you couldn't hear it sooner, but it just might have moved in this moment.

Goblins of varying sorts and colors along with the occasional brownie or leprechaun seen to have shops set up, selling all manner of sundries and simples and strangeness.
A similar assortment of peculiar persons are about the business of buying or at least browsing the strange goods.  Few seem to be quite human at all,

Among those browsing is a tall, pale individual in full leathers, wearing a broad-brimmed black hat that makes it hard to see his face well.  He carries what looks like a long bone from a tall animal (or very tall humanoid?), and has a long knife sheathed for the opposite hand.

As he moves from booth to booth, he jostles a purse that doesn't seem to be filled with coins.

"Helo, Ebbie, Oes gennych chi unrhyw bobl sych yn cnawd i mi? Rwy'n rhedeg yn isel."

The odd vendor folds up the rest of their wares and seems to collapse the folding table into something improbably small that they slip into a pouch.
This you barely notice because of a commotion above; Atticus seems to have stirred up some corvid folk and much cawing and fluttering of wings. By the time you look down, Kiran seems to have been bustled off by some dryads.

The tall hatted figure seems to notice the goblin in yellow for the first time, then the woman he's speaking to, and addresses her.

"Nid ydych chi'n edrych fel lleol. Shawn Nyseth ydw i, croeso i farchnad Goblin!"

As he gets close and speaks, you can see his face under his hat well enough to notice he's quite ugly by the standards you're used to, with pale skin and very sharp-looking teeth, no visible hair, and pale blue eyes.

On sub note:-  A GM world is his own.  But in passing Welsh is Celtic (Britanica).  As far as I undestand elvish we use comes from saxson (Germanic).  If my understanding of Tolkin is right.
Oh and I did have the chance to learn Welsh from the natives (a proper couse) but that was just a bridge to far for a dyslexic.

"Even so, I try not to eat those I've known in life.  Many consider that disrespectful."

Ri-i-ght!  he replies in a dubious voice.

You might have to check with someone who knows alchemy to determine that.
in the meantime a greyish looking person has paused in their walk through the market
and staring at you in anger. They look vaguely familiar.

Her hand moves to her knives instinctively...

Shawn eyes the gray man and raises his bone rod in his left hand, then puts his right hand on the hilt of his long knife (but without drawing it from its sheath yet).

"If we're to travel together, best we get along."

Glancing sidelong at Anita, he adds, "Do you know this fellow?  He seems to belong to the underworld."

In reply to Shawn Nyseth (msg # 300):

"Yes, I may have had something to do with his journey. He was a fool in life who thought I was not worthy of life. Hence, I hope I will not have to repeat the lesson."

"I defended myself, most certainly. And would do it again. Question is, have you learnt your lesson, or do you intend on forcing me to do it again?"

"You say Miss Anita killed you, along with this tiny pixie?  And that you are in fact dead?  Seems to me the dispute is already resolved.  I only regret that I missed the opportunity to make meals of your body."

With a couple quiet words, a flourish of his rod and a gesture of his right hand, a hornet several inches long appears; its wings buzzing angrily as the iridescent colors shift with the light on its body.  The tall, pale man grins, showing his pointy teeth.

Rosewood turns to the Purist.

You do know your blond hair pure humans girl was a winter court fay that tricked you and made you look silly?
That you died at the wishes and command of a fay which you hate.
And your stupd action did this.

Rosewood points to his totally black eyes.

He then turns to Shawn and points to the Hornet.
Get rid of that thing or I will.
A rare anger in the little fairies voice.  His eyes totally black shows sparks of mulit coloured pixie dust in them.

"It is mine, and I control it.  It will not harm you; I brought it only for defense in case this one grows unruly."

As he speaks, the hornet lights gently on his hat and folds its wings, the lacy vein patterns of one set showing through the diaphanous surface of the other.  It begins to clean its antennae with its forelegs.

"Blasted fey are all around. I  seek Wodun's mead hall.
your insects trouble me not"

"Do. That thing is about as big as he is. Lets keep going.

Off to your mead hall then." she says to the once dead purist...

"Very well."  He lifts his hat, allowing the hornet to fly into it, then claps it back on his head.  "Yes, let us go with the procession."  He looks at the man who approached Anita.  "And as long as you behave, you'll have no need to fear my creatures."

as more people (?)come through, some parley with the merchants of the market, but others move onward.
Some seem as gray around the edges as the purists, others seem normal,
at least as normal as fey creatures and persons are.
Rosewood notes that there is a casual
mingling of both Seelie and Unseelie types;
the courts are mixing freely here.

As he and his new companions move away from the purist, Shawn notes: "I wonder whether his flesh here is truly flesh, or if that was left behind in the human world?"

Anita watches the folk with interest.

"I wonder what this procession is all about?"

The witches had told you the procession leads to the tree of the Dark Mother, and that you were to follow it and see what ails Her.

Various creatures, some spirits, some fey, some lost all begin to mingle with some of the more mobile peddlers of the goblin marjet, and begin to maje their wayvthrough the forest.

Anita will continue as well, being very cautious who gets too near her.

As the small group of his new acquaintances joins up with the Procession, Shawn moves closer to Anita so as to speak to Rosewood, who'd been riding on her shoulder.

"I wish to apologize for any offense my little display may have caused.  I assure you, that hornet could have done you no harm.  I do not yet have the skill to create one that could, and when I gain such skill, any creatures I create will be fully under my control."

In reply to Shawn Nyseth (msg # 317):

"Could it carry her? Oh, wait, she can fly herself, right?"

"Alas, no, my creations can carry nothing at this time."  He looks around at the other travelers, then lowers his voice to a whisper.  _{"Not to put too fine a point on it, but aside from creating the most mundane of unliving objects, which last only so long as they are held, I can make nothing with any substance or solidity.  I am skilled, however, in images and illusions."}

"Interesting. Can you change your appearance to seem less...undead?"

Some of the folks walking with you are more than gray aroud the edges;
They are downright bony in places, but aome are talkative amongst themselves and some of the fey, who are being carefully polite with them.

Shawn smiles, giving a glimpse of his teeth, which are much more like those of a predator than human dentition, but keeps his voice low.

Following the procession, you start to enter an area where the trees have less vibrant foliage,
the area is bleaker and the sky is becoming gray-violet.

Rosewood stays close to Anita Drake.
The little fairy is wondering if this was really a good idea.  It was however to late to turn back.
