He starts meowing to the cats.


Brunhilda just pats them as they eat.

Virgilio perks up, previously unaware that domestic cats had their own speech.

"Wait, cats can talk?" Looking at Tommy, Jendrich adds "the four legged ones, I mean... But seriously why did no one tell me about that? And do other animals talk?"

Not knowing the answer Bratu remains quiet.

Tommy shrugs, and continues meowing to the cats that are largely ignoring him and eating what Brunhilda offered.

Seeing the reaction...

"Oh, should have known.  They can understand us, they just don't bother to answer back."

"Would bribery with food help?" suggets Bratu.

"I don't bribe my friends. i just feed them." Brunhilda objects.

"Friends that won't talk to you, I see," replies Bratu. "Perhaps friends that won't talk may be comfortable with helping by showing."

Dne’s head abruptly twitches from one side to another as he struggles to make sense of the conversation.  It doesn’t help that there are cats around… he doesn’t necessarily fear them, but their presence is never pleasant for a bird.

Brunhilda originally appeared to be wearing a patchwork fur coat, but was actually covered with cats.
They had fled when the Shoggoth showed up, and apparently had made their way up here.
They also seem to be indifferent to Tommy's meowing.

eventually you all move across the ladders until the sounds of the chanting ooze start to fade.
Much like the pattern of the Goblins' attire, the walls, ceiling and floor are painted in a zigzag pattern, only it seems to move.

Dne stares at the pattern, trying to figure out if the apparent motion is just an illusion or not.

Bratu, crushed shoulder still aching, moves along with the crowd.

Jendrich uses one of the walls as support, trying not to stare at the dizzying paint.
