"He's drunk his pay away, so bring him back when he's flush."

The only answer the barman gets is a brief nod as Che helps Novak to his feet.

Che gently eases Novak to his feet, saying, "Cash is the last thing you need my friend. What you need is willow tea for the pain, sweetened with just a little honey so it will help with the raging thirst, Then we both need a good fry up and unless you've paid the rent in advance, we need to get your stuff from your digs and to make up a bedroll for you at my place." 

With that Che half supported, half carried Maj to the nearest place that bit only serves what they need but will also serve it to them.

You make your way to the recently re-opened Mug and Cauldron, just a few blocks away.
Unfortunately, despite the Yurick family serving Shevnian cuisine, they will not serve Maj, which gets him in a foul temper.

Luckily, your own landlady is still serving food at the refrectory of the converted friary where you live along with a number of displaced Demi-fey.

Che smiles and tips an imaginary hat.  "He needs something for a hangover and I think we both need breakfast, thank you very much for asking.  Sadly even Mrs Yurick won't serve him, which reminds me.... "Maj, naštval si pani Yurickovú alebo je to všeobecná nechuť k tvojim ľuďom? Ak je to to druhé, porozprávame sa o tom, keď sa budete cítiť lepšie."

"I don't mind that the Madame Yurick is a witch, it is just that they are Shevnian, and sadly many of them are a little close minded about bloodlines.  Not me, if you have coin and keep clean, you can bed here.  Speaking of which, when was the last time his gambeson was washed?"

Maj brushes at some of the more noticeable stains on his jerkin.

Che smiles to both of them.  "A problem for later I think.  Umm how long IS it since your Gambeson was washed Maj?"  He shrugged.  "Never mind. Let's see if we can keep you out of trouble long enough to get it washed shall we?"

In reply to Che Beethoven (msg # 11):

The landlady, Madame Guarona, calls over Claria, her servant to see if she can scrub some of the satins out of it.
Once he unbuckles it, it is obvious that the rest of Maj's gear is equally stained and scuffed.

Claria rolls her eyes, but takes the arming garment outside to wash it.

In reply to Serving woman (msg # 12):

Madam Guarona shakes her head at the swordsman's appearance.

"Rough as he is , I wish he had been around the other week.  Some locals were making it difficult for my other tenants,
and if it hadn't been for Renolan and his fireproofing, we might have been burned out.
Things have been strange here ever since before the street collapse a few blocks off, where those oak trees are now."

Che frowns as he listens to Madam Guarona.  "Locals you say.  Would you have any idea who and whether it was any tenants in particular who were... what? Attacked?  Threatened?  Inconvenienced?  Are said locals still around?  I think once Maj's clothes are dry, we should go and have a chat with them, or have I misunderstood the situation perhaps?"

Madam Guarona shakes her head.
"Maddo and Hypatia pooled their money and hired a gang of counter-vigilanties
 who went and fought with these rotten fellows with armbands.
I swear, some people have no tolerance for what is different from themselves.

I suppose you could have a word with Maddo about whether or not that was resolved...
Oh look, there is himself."

In reply to Landlady (msg # 15):

An odd looking fellow trots in. He is almost handsome except for the small horns, hooves, and longish ears;
all of which speak of a satyr in the family.

"How do you do?"

Che frowns again. "Armbands?  So they were some kind of political faction?"

He offers Maddon his hand and says, "Hi Maddon, pleased to meet you.  I'm Che.  This here is my friend Maj.  I wonder, was it resolved or are these people with the armbands still an issue?"

In reply to Che Beethoven (msg # 17):

"Oh, Gordab, Anita, Leroy, Marcus, and Rosewood destroyed them.
There was much bloodshed, and the neighborhood is better for it.
I hear that their old base of operations is vacant for now.
I would feel more secure if any of that group were still around, but they have gone to Faerie,
or at least to Hyacynth's Hoofprints..."

Che smiled a grim smile and said, "I'm glad to hear that it's sorted for now.  Perhaps we as a community should consider what we should do to stop anything similar.  Do you know who owns their former base of operations.  Perhaps Maj and I could go an investigate? It's always good to have a community centre where people can get together and help out in a neighbourhood.  That's what I've oalways found anyway."

In reply to Che Beethoven (msg # 19):

"Problem has to do with the way the local bluecloaks are -they don't care.
Not about fey troubles, not about 'green' troubles.  There were near riots a month ago over
a goblin athlete courting an orc cheerer that nearly destroyed the artisnal (goblin) district.
The guard would not involve themselves in that, and nor would they help us.
Using the Rathskellar as something other than a base for the Purists might not be a bad idea."

Che considers for a while then says, "Then perhaps we should make it happen. Do you know who controls the Rathskeller and how we could get permission to take over?  If I knew who to talk to, I could maybe go and have a chat just as soon as Maj's gambeson is presentable.  Would you be in if we tried to set up some kind of community enterprise?"

In reply to Che Beethoven (msg # 21):

"The League of Outcasts would do well with such a meeting hall.  I do not know if the barkeep there was cowed by the purists or fully one of them, but they must be lacking in trade with the purists gone.  Let us go see, as they are but a few streets away."

Claria returns with the nearly dry arming garment; it still has some staining but is a shade lighter.

Che smiles and says, "Well there we go then. Looks like your stuff's cleaner then.  Would you like to come along and meet the landlord?"

In reply to Che Beethoven (msg # 24):

Maj pulls on the gambeson and buttons the frogs that secure it, and rebuckles his swordbelt over it.
He looks slightly less hungover, but very much a mess just the same.
"Let's go. If we have any luck they may have something to drink there."

With a nod to Madame Guarona, the two of you and Maddo head out of the former friary and a few blocks over.
This neighborhood, on the eastern edge of redlight, is fairly run down.
Tightly packed townhouses with tile rooves, many of which seem abandoned, crowd the cobbled streets and lean into each other.
The western portion of the district has a large orcish population, and this area borders on Little Shevnia, which has its own
policing and bureaucracy.

You find the Rathskellar partway down a cul de sac, where a few steps down lead into the basement level tavern.

There look to be bloodstains on the steps, and there is a strong smell of woodsmoke.
The front door has a small window with its own door. finding it unlocked, Maj pulls the door open.

Within is a barrel vaulted cellar. There are several tables with benches, a long bar with barrels of wine and ale behind it, and a large fire place.

The partial outline of a door is drawn in charcoal on on wall, and there scrubbing it off the wall is a bearded man.

Che smiles his best smile, all full of warmth and empathy as if a warm spring day could be rolled up into a lifting of the corners of the mouth and a wrinkling of the skin around a pair of eyes. "Good day to you sir, my name is Che and these are my friends Maj and Maddo and we have a proposition for you if you're interested?"  With Maj and Maddo's presence, he didn't even need to ask whether or not Piers were a Purist himself. They'd know soon enough.
