Kalvo parries the shot to his hand, and takes the hit in his armored torso with a grunt, but swings down hard with his broadsword, cleaving into Arvak

[Private to Arvak Garver: I prerolled a parry and strike pairing, he is also a weapon master. Hit does 14 cutting on the swing]

Re: Time for a beating

I manage to deflect his strike, but not much else...

18:46, Today: Arvak Garver rolled 6 using 3d6. Parry (16).  Success!
18:49, Today: Arvak Garver rolled 18 using 3d6. Short sword (wooden) targeting leg, deceptive (x2) (effective 15). Critical failure!

[Private to GM: I didn't have a private message the first time he swung at me, was my parry there possible alright?
Also, I'm not sure what to do in cases of critical failure, but I figured that I wouldn't get to use my second attack after that.

The orc arrives just in time to see the halfling drop his sword.

Good.

Maybe now the fight will be interesting.

"As mercenary is fine. As gladiator is fine. As boxer is fine. As wrestler is fine. Fight to death, fight to knockout, fight for points, is all fine. Full contact, no contact. For sport or for real, is all fine, as long as opponent is strong."

He considered. "Only fight with fists and feet and elbows and knees, but if opponent is weak and needs knife or stick or whatever to be challenging, that okay too. Recommend they give up crutches and master the true art of fighting, but that their choice."
