Re: OOC - Started May 2014

If i assume anything, i assume i dont have to do the bookkeeping, which is no suit.  She wants one, she speaks up for herself.

Hina says no to the suit.

I was tempted to do the same, but nuffle hasn't liked me recently, so won't risk it.

also my previous post was based on "If I have to make a commanders decision"

Re: OOC - Started May 2014

Just to be clear.

I'm on top of the bookkeeping and paced a little aggressively mostly because (to me) there was a lot of bookkeeping to be done, and i didnt want to get bogged down.  It also means i have to keep a paper trail on what i'm doing, what other people is doing, and what's been done.

Im pretty good at this stuff, but i admit i'm probably at the edge of my paper shuffling skills, so to help me keep things straight i make to do list, on what's been done, what's left to be done and to make sure were  both on the same page.

nothing worse than me waiting on something from a player and them not realizing it and there for not answering me.

So... please dont take it badly if theres a flurry of papers around.  Were still way ahead on the schedule to start before June, my desired start time, and even if were not and go over, no biggie, it's just a soft deadline.

I dont mind waiting on the players here and there, i just want to get to the point that no one is waiting on 'me'.

Requesting suit.

Also, on my character sheet, you had for CT 18a(7), it should be 18a(6).

Concerning missiles, would each group of 5 damage (or fraction of) get a chance to decompress a target?

In reply to Donovan O'Brien (msg # 14):

Will fix, yes, each group of 5 on a LRM has a chance to decompress, you roll a location when you hit, you have a chance to decompress.

Sounds like a nasty and ugly, but weapon fire will also be reduced because of heat issues, so it might not be as bad as you think.

Honestly i have no idea how it's going to turn out either.  Like all things dice will be king.

I assume by "safe speeds" you mean our normal (un-boosted) movement speeds?

It's listed as our usual run speed or less, in the original post about this :)

Where?

In Kitten's original post, or somewhere I can't see?

Because Kitten's post says what happens when you exceed the safe speeds, but doesn't specify what they are...

Your safe speeds are your normal Run MP (now your Low-G Walking MP) and your normal Jump MP.

Right, but where? It's not that I don't believe you, I just want to know if I missed it, or if it was clarified in a thread I don't have visibility to :)

Re: OOC - Started May 2014

I'm working on the mission thread, unit commanders can see them to make certain that i get the unit information correctly.  When the mission threads are complete and ready i'll make them open to general view.

Theres no point in giving you half a mission to tease.

Ok, so the question was already asked in a thread I can't see.

No worries! And thank you for the quick answer :)

Nope - it's any hit can cause a breach on 10+.  If all armour is removed from a location, it automatically breaches (on top of the normal crit check if applicable).  Fighting in vacuum SUCKS!  LBX's are killers in this type of environment.

Ack, wow okay, talk about poor engineering. Unfortunate that it makes the dice rolls even more deciding.. should be interesting.

It's the same if you're fighting underwater.  Granted it is a bit of an abstraction, but it simpler than saying "X continues to function, Y fails, Z roll for failure."

When you look at it, 'Mechs are the most versatile environment "vehicle".  Conventional Infantry I guess would also qualify, but they require all the right equipment.  Aerospace fighters are built for vacuum so they don't have the same problem as 'Mechs, but they don't go underwater (I believe).  Standard Vee's and Industrial 'Mechs both need Environmental Sealing, and then their only as good as 'Mechs.

In reply to David Crain (msg # 29):

At this point, you only have the "For Sale" options left. Since they are a bit buried by now, here they are for reference, with the Edenite only options stripped out:

quote:
Mission Six, Seven ~ FOR SALE!

Select ONE of the following.

For Sale ~ Omni's Gratitude {Non-Eden Pilot}
Important information and tech was recovered on the last mission, not the least of which are the new EMP warheads being developed by the Taurens.  It's good to be on Omni's good side.
Select a piece of Advance/Omni Tech Equipment (most 3050 IS equipment) to purchase.
cost List Price to purchase.  Does not include installation cost.

For Sale ~ Omni's Gratitude {Non-Eden Pilot}
Omni has developed the new "A" series Power Loader.
They have a surplus of X-3 Power Loaders, that they are willing to part with, that they are willing to make available to the Freelancers.  Includes a spare set of modules for alternate configuration.
1 294 584 ~ X-3
1 808 300 ~ X-3A

For Sale ~ That which does not kill us, makes us stronger.

They say it's always nice to do 'win' and do 'well'.  The harsh truth though is that you learn more from brutal defeats.  The drop did not go well at all, and many mistakes were made.  Mistakes are the opportunity you learn from.
There was some really ugly fighting on the last contract but no fatalities.
cost 20,000 C-Bills per experience point.
Maximum of 25 experience points.

Re: OOC - Started May 2014

In reply to Kurt Steiner (msg # 30):

Heh, it just seems a bit odd to me, that a leg or torso has enough air in it to cause any decompression problem, or that it requires the absence of vacuum to function. Water imo is more complicated than space, since it adds mass, disrupts electricity and so forth.

Having the cockpit punctured would be my normal expectation of bad, but then if were using space suits, I'd expect to be both securely strapped in, as well as having vented the cockpit atmosphere, removing the old decompression problem.

Of course its simple to say mechs just arent built for space or vacuum, though it seems like that would be a bit odd, given the age old problem that is aircraft or spacecraft in this instance and that of maintaining ground control.

Anyways, thats just me over analyzing it, being influenced from a tech/engineering background, and having been exposed to way to much Macross and Gundam :)

There is actually such a thing as way too much Macross and Gundam?
