Re: Mission Nine

Dont mind waiting a bit, like i said he has a little less than 24 hours.  I just dont want to wait on a turn resolution too long for one players turns.

Re: Mission Nine

Updated.

Not a horrible turn.

You took out the Shadow Hawk and Commando, but lost Avenger's Jenner.

The Clock continue to tick against the mercs.

Reinforcements are noted as on the way from the Decoy mission for the Op Force, but

Reinforcements are noted as on the way from the Sentry mission for the Merc's too.

Off to turn Six then.

Re: Mission Nine

I have a question for Kitten.  Seeing as how one of my Blackjack's arms has been decompressed, does this mean the mech can no longer flip its arms and shoot anything behind it (as it only has Shoulder / upper arms actuators a la Rifleman)?

Re: Mission Nine

In reply to Mattias Hudson (msg # 890):

You may continue to do so.  It's in the design to flip the arms, that one of the arms is out of commission shouldnt stop the one that works from flipping.

The Blackjack does have a lower arm actuator though, which means that it cant flip it's arms.

Re: Mission Nine

Only the BJ-1 Model has lower arm actuators.  The BJ-1DB and the BJ-1DC do not.

quote:
Helia may make a scout check (Base 8 + 3 Jump = tn 11+) tn 11+

So I know I already made (and failed) the roll. But I must respectfully protest.

Finding out that my movement effected my scout roll caught me by surprise.

When I looked, I did see in the reference thread that the scouting rules do say that movement and terrain modifiers apply.

HOWEVER, that still seemed odd to me. So I checked the previous mission log. From what I can see, not a single person who scouted a crater in mission 8 ever took a movement penalty to their scout TN.

I know that's the rules as they are written, but it feels a little unfair that they are only just now actually being applied. (yes, I am butthurt because I was all excited that I was going to maybe do something useful, only to have my hopes dashed by TN11 :P)

Anyway, I will go with whatever you say, but I felt the need to bring it up. :)

Re: Mission Nine

Ok will leave it a flat scout check this mission.

You guys really don't need more of a handicap.

Should be noted that after this that movement and terrain will modify scouting.

Re: Mission Nine

Helia Scanned hill 1803...

Youre trying to scan 1106...

From what youre saying it sounds like you believe 0304 was scanned... by who?

Ana failed her scout, and Avenger was shot down in the fire phase and never made it to initiative to scout, so.... who do you think scouted 0304?

Re: Mission Nine

I can't find any message with a scout roll from him, but it would have been after he got blown up, so during this initiative phase...

since he said he scouted it, i didn't give it second thought, and mvoed to the alst hill i thought needed scouting.

if he hasn't scouted west hill I would have gone to that, not center hill.

Re: Mission Nine

Yeah he was decompressed during counter-fire and wouldn't have been considered 'live' during the following initiative round for it to count.

His scout skill appears to be 7 and we are dropping the movement modifiers to Scout rolls.  He rolled a 6.  Looks unfortunately like a miss.

Re: Mission Nine

Hmmm. Well poop.

On the other hand, we are both not great at scouting, so having us both on the middle hill still isn't the worst thing. It is likely to take 2 rolls.

Re: Mission Nine

actually that's not eeven what i'm thinking about:

scout rolls and sprint rolls have been specifically mentioned to only be legal if rolled during the initiative phase.

I do however believe the roll is made for the previous turn? (not sure, but i do think it is)

-

helia this jsut lost the mission.

IF ziro cna get  to the west hill next turn, we have 3 turns to mvoe to and kill the bunker...

hwoever this assumes nothing damages him.

if he is damaged on this turns fire, we can't scan it till after turn 8, thus leaving us turn 9 and 10 to get to, and destroy the bunker, assuming we findd it on the first roll.

bottom line: If ziro gets hit, we just failed the mission.

unless kitten is really nice: kitten i thought david had it scouted, becuase he said so, i know i've shot already, but would you permit a replot of my move based on him not having done so (essentially to 0403 SW, where i can scan the hill, which is what i would have done, if i knew it still needed scanning)

Re: Mission Nine

Hm... Well maybe Kitten will let you change your move, since it was based on false information.

Right now we will be scouting the middle hill at the beginning of turn 7. Assuming we succeed, Either you or Ziro could run to get back to the left hill, and scout it at the beginning of turn 8.

Assuming that Kitten chose the Hill that would make things most difficult, that would be the right hill. Since it would take us pretty much all of turn 8 just to get people over there, we would basically be scrambling to get there asap and take what shots we could.

So in theory it would still be possible for us to get lucky and disable the controls, but yes, very unlikely. Hopefully Kitten will let you take back your move.

Re: Mission Nine

No.  You make dice rolls and i've very uninclined for take back moves.

It's just too fuzzy.

Just the confusion of war that you thought something was done and it wasnt.

Regardless of how it plays out, you still only need to make all the hills scouted to achieve one of your objectives.

While it would be nice to complete the Destroy portion of the mission, not completing it, while not a good thing, is only one of three objectives.

Obviously anyone standing on a hill to make scout rolls has a special place in my heart for being targeted at the moment to stall you from making scout checks.  (Its part of the reason David caught so much fire when he went down, he was the only one capable of scouting that hill.)

I've already cut you slack but not counting movement for scouting for the rest of the mission and offering you merc reinforcements from another mission.  Which is still in doubt of being used at this point.

I suggest working on at least scouting all three hills before worrying if you can destroy the bunker.  You can do as little as 30 damage and hope for a lucky roll to disable the bunker.  (shrugs)

I wouldnt bet the farm on it, but it could happen... >.>

In reply to Helia Quinn (msg # 906):

No.  If i muck something up and it's against the players, yeah it's on me and to make it right I'll do stuff.

I dont see how i'm at fault on this one.  False information was not provided by me.

So... sorry, no take backs on this one.

On the bright side, after you scan all three hills i just point at one and tell you the bunker is here and it's a frenzy to destroy/protect it.

Obviously you should expect me to pick the most inconvenient hill to house the bunker.
