10-4.... Cover is cover.

I guess I'll take position along side Odin and push the right side of the field then per the PoA. Odin do you want to scan the crater directly in front of your position?

Re: OOC - Started May 2014

Akarian Euclid:
So wait does the -2 level craters actually block LOS? I've been flip flopping on that, as the whole "firing downhill" bit seems like it would be in play, and thus allow LOS (Unless treating craters like water which has special exceptions). That and partial cover would only come from being adjacent to the raised level 1 tiles, not 2+ tiles away from them.

So if someone can clear that up, I'd be very grateful :)

Using deadzone rules for this mission.
That means you ignore level one cover unless youre right next to it to take advantage of it.

That means if youre in a level two hole, you have pretty good cover unless someone moves to the 'edge' to look down and blast you in the hole.

'Edge' is reletive to the hole... where you are in the hole, and how close to the hole they are.  I have the rules clear in my mind... but they're hard to explain so just 'deal' with it.

ie.  Ana does have full cover at the moment cause she's at -2 level and no opforce is close enough to see her.

Re: OOC - Started May 2014

I believe i'm still waiting for move/fire from Lucius, Pax, Lina, and Jake.

just a FYI...on LOS...

Akarian is in a -1 Level Crater, with a level 1 ring around it.

Teri has full LOS to Akarian, and Akarian has full LOS to Teri.

Roger and Joaquin has LOS to Akarian, and Akarian has partial LOS to both of them.

Kurt has Partial LOS to Akarian, and Akarian has Partial LOS to Kurt.

No one else can see  Akarian.

Ana is in a -2 Level Crater

Helia and HIna has Partial LOS to Ana, and Ana has Partial LOS to Kurt.

No one else can see Ana

If there was someone in hex 3333, they would have full LOS to Ana, and Partial cover against being shot by Ana.

HOpefully this helps...

You'll get to see the map after the last four characters move.

Re: OOC - Started May 2014

Alright so there is some sort of distances at work, but it seems to be more in line with what I mentally expected, vs what I read in the actual LOS examples/rules, which fits me just fine :)

Thanks for clearing that up Kitten.

In reply to Akarian Euclid (msg # 164):

yea, i know how the standard rules are written, and i dont always agree with them.

If i'm in a -1 level hole, and youre at level 0, you should still get partial cover becauase youre in the hole.  Your feet are in the 'deadzone'.  You wont see the feet till youre close enough to love over the lip of the hole.

Battletech rules, say... you see the full mech, just cause youre elevated...

The entire concept of a 'fox hole' goes out the window as non workable under those rules, and that's what the craters are... really big mech sized fox holes.

Keep in mind, that partial cover does not provide any to hit modifiers, but does provide location protection by nulling any damage that would hit the legs.

Did I miss my turn window?  Catgirl didn't jump and is still at her starting hex.

Re: OOC - Started May 2014

Avenger, Jake, and Viking have lost initiative and need to move at this time.

Dust Storm and Scorption need to provide me with initiative rolls, and if they lose, movements for turn two.

The rest of you get to look at the map and wonder where you might want to go next.

jenniffer you don't have to move yet, partial success means you get the option of moving after the alrger part of the opforce, if you want to :)

of course you're allowed to move now, just saying :)

Questions on exceeding safe movement limits. Does a failed piloting check cause you to fall in addition to the internals damage? Also just to verify, I assume internals damage from this, doesn't risk decompression?

Re: OOC - Started May 2014

As per Kitten's informational, no failing the PSR only does internal damage and doesn't force a PSR to remain standing.

But...

If you take damage to your IS then you'd also have to roll a potential critical against yourself and damage your foot/lower/upper/hip which would then really make your day bad...perhaps not as bad as a decompress but still bad.

Is the internals damage applied in one chunk, or is it randomized?

Re: OOC - Started May 2014

It's damage to your legs so the randomization would be limited.

I'd imagine that the first 5 points would be determined by a standard 1-3 RL 4-6 LL like a kick at the front, then the next 5 points would be clustered into a random leg, and so on.

Oh damn, I didn't think about the critical roll aspect there.. Yeah sounds like a bad day.

Re: OOC - Started May 2014

each legs takes a point of internal damage for each MP above the safe movement/jump.

which may lead to a critical... which may lead to falling down.

nothing is for sure though.

Speed kills, one mistep and youre wounded waiting for pick up.

Really everyones walk is pretty uber at the moment, if youre running or jumping it better be for a really good reason.

Think of the low gravity as Uber MASC for everyone... it's cool till you fail the roll then.. youre out of the battle.
