Re: Omni's Gratitude

lol, should aseen what i did for a friends birthday then, he asked for lots of various chicken kebobs, so i made 5 different ones.

orange-chili  marinade
BBQ marinade (not even going to TRY compete with americans on this one)
soy-sauce marinade
Beer and honey Marinade
Garlic marinade.

I had a massive FUBAR on the Soy sauce one, so lets not speak of that (somehow managed to write down my soy measurements in deciliters instead of in tablespoons... wtf!!!???) suffice to say, those were horrible!

Beer-honey one was flat and bitter... (I blame the availability, or lack of availability of any beer that doesn't taste like piss)

Garlic was... outshadowed, becuase both the remaining two also contained garlic

Orange-Chili was the one i was expecting people to be the most sceptical about, yet they realyl liekd that  one, it's an itneresting mix, and adds a sweetness and then the burn of the chili and garlic... I really enjoyed this.

their favorite was the BBQ one, which was pretty much based off of what i had tasted  in previous BBQ ones, a bit of tomato pure, some brown sugar, a bit of garlic, pepper, paprika, salt.

simple, but they lvoed it... and i was left wondering why that was the one they favored... becuase I never considered it to be my best marinade.

edit: also now you guys got me started on talking food :)

If it's an auction item, you might want to post that info in the auction thread.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

*grins*

Leave the Omni Gratitude here, cause that's what Kitten wanted.  Erase the Omni Gratitude from the auction bid...

Then put the auction bid in a PM line to Kitten.

Mind you...

The auction goes to the highest bidder, not just for dropping the minimum bid.  so unless I'm mistaken you won't take the Rank bump by dropping only 100k.  On the plus side any bid you put in the auction that you don't get is returned to your current Bank.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

Yeah didn't realize it was a silent auction. I'm still getting used to this process. Its quite different from the usual form I'm used to.

I talked over options already for things with Kitten privately, just so she and I were on the same page for what I had intended to do with regards to modifications when the equipment was available.

I'll make the changes accordingly.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

Kitten (or anyone else), is there any chance you can explain the handicap points calculation bit? I've read it over and over, and I seem to be missing something. From how I'm reading it, every 5 ton difference is +1 or -1 handicap point, and only if gunnery is under 4, there is +2 handicap per point under 4, and only if pilot is under 5 there is a +1 handicap per point under.

Yet the example seems to somehow come up with 5 points of handicap to buy a heat sink, despite only a 1-2pt weight difference, and the handicap numbers next to actual players have me even more baffled. Unless every point of handicap is really worth or minus 5 points perhaps? Though even then the numbers tend to not make sense to me.

Edit: Although looking at it more, it seems that every point is really worth perhaps 5pts, and also piloting skill is really using initiative value instead of actual piloting value for calculation? Thus my 4/2 is worth 15pts as 5 to 2 is 3 x 5 points a piece or what not?

Re: Omni's Gratitude

The sample breakdown....
quote:
So if the Merc Pilot is...
David Crain ~
Jenner-F    35 tons
Adj. Gunnery 4
Adj. Pilot   5

Gunnery = 4 = +0 Handicap
Pilot   = 5 = +0 Handicap
Jennery = 35 ton mech.

X-3 = 25 ton mech ~> 35 ton - 25 ton = 10 ton handicap
X-3a= 30 ton mech ~> 35 ton - 30 ton =  5 ton handicap

On message 3, i have a list of skill handicaps for use.

For...>
Akarian...
Gunnery 4 = +0 Handicap.
Pilot   2 =+15 Handicap.
Mongoose = 25 ton mech.

vs a X-3 the Omni player get a 15 ton handicap
vs a X-3a the Omni player gets a 10 ton hanidcap.

Handicap is used to improve the gunnery or pilot skill of the omni player or pick up more conjecture tech.

Better?

Yes.

Since there is a unit award, it wouldnt be fair to have units play one another, and the potential problem of omni players throwing matches to inflate their score.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

Thanks Kitten, that confirms what I figured out in the edit. It was just confusing as you are talking about things being 1 or 2 points handicaps originally, than suddenly every 1 point is actually 5 points. That and pilot skill in this case is really also using initiative value and not pure pilot skill. I mean I don't have a pilot skill of 2 :)

All cleared up for me anyways.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

Exactly Akarian.  Most people get lower Gunnery/Piloting through the various Specialties that they take and the fact that it's cheaper to buy them up than the actual related attribute.

Early September they close, there are some players on vacation and i dont want to penalize them, by the time they come back i'll be on vacation.  So auction results are not to be used for the Tourney.  (Though you can use for sale, and mundane purchases)

Best Gunnery and Pilot scores after adjustment.  So your pilot, after heirloom, and tactics is '2'.

Ana's gunnery after Missile option is '3'.

Omni player has a gunnery of 6 and Pilot of 6 to start, so i have no problems with counting options to give them a little handicap bump to purchase skills or tech to help level the playing field.
