Re: Omni's Gratitude

No tanks here Ziro ;)

Kitten has dabbled back and forth with troopers, vehicles, vtols and even aerotech in addition to the Mechs but what usually ends up happening is that it's a lot more work that starts detracting from the Mech portion because they get paid substantially less than Mechwarriors and it's hard to do the mixed-combat-arms battles without a lot of hard feelings and confusing work that ends up having fewer and fewer people playing the alternate pilots/drivers/infantry.  Or at least that's my observations on the times she's done it before.

That said I'm sure that the Eden crew will always be happy for extra Mechwarriors.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

Tankers... bad.

A lot of the time if youre on offense, i make you drop from space in hot combat zones.

Tankers dont drop well from space.

Jake was originally a tanker, but got stuck in space for much of the first few contracts.

That said... The Edenites have some really cool Conventional units...

ie... a VTOL with a module bay large enough to sport and LGR... inspired by the Thunderbolt Tank Killer.

Hawk Eye support carriers in the form of VTOLs and Hover tanks to provide close combat support from off the map.

stuff like that.  granted the cadets cant hit anything moving with it, but it looks cool on paper.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

Lucius is correct.

Its not that i dont have rules for them, its just notable bookkeeping and really really tough to keep up with because my free time is thinned as it is i'm ignoring other campaigns and feel really bad about it.

So i'm not looking to expand.

Really leery at the moment cause Half the BMs are out on vacation over the summer and i'm about to be too, so for the next few weeks you have to amuse yourself with the tourney which is meant to be player self run.

It's almost ready i just need to pick out a nice tourney map to use.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

VTOL's would be neat too.

I just kinda want to try something totally different. But I completely understand if Kitten doesn't want to add anything. There are already A LOT of characters :)

Also, I would not be opposed to mastering some battle... :P

Re: Omni's Gratitude

Well that all makes sense. :)

Definitely don't want to make it harder on you than it already is. Those conventional units do sound cool though! Maybe one day... when we all have infinite free time. Thanks for indulging that thought though.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

VTOL's are...a bunch of misses followed by a rotor getting hit and the pilot dying in a fireball.

On the bright side, you do get to add a new crater to the landscape when that happens. That way you don't have to worry about a burial or anything.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

Well a flaming crater maybe.

Though if you want to try out Troopers for a change of pace Kitten does have a totally different game (that's been on the backburner because of her camping and upcoming trip) that uses the Trooper rules but instead of being Battletech is XCOM.

I'm not sure if she plans on ramping up speed and possibly people in September or not though so...

I'm in it! It made me reinstall XCOM--and reminded me of the sheer terror of accidentally running across a Chryssalid with a lone trooper.

Makes that flaming crater seem attractive somehow.

The first time my friend ran into Chryssalids was on a terror mission.

It was like a Dawn of the Dead Zombie movie, everyone in the town was converted then the X-com operative... it was to say the least a total loss.

I never did well in the game.  Always just killed anything that moved.  Scorched Earth wasn't a good policy to get extra money from the people that fund you.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

Scorched Earth or no, there was something just incredibly satisfying about shooting through a wall to take out the Muton that had been taking cover on the other side, and was about to gun down your best guys because he was flanking them.

Catgirl really need to be able to shoot better.  Would the Sniper option be better for her than getting the Energy Weapons specialization?

Edited for brain failure.

Sniper would come into effect after you've taken 2 levels of Energy Weapon Spec as it is one of the 'Specialties.'

Re: Omni's Gratitude

A new player and a few alts being created has created a murky situation among who in the Valks will be competing in tourney.  Tourney on hold while i sort this out.

Mostly waiting on Brini to submit character, and for Ziro to figure out if he wants to compete as a Freelancer or Eden Pilot.

Mattias will join the Freelancers with Joaquin.  They will form a 'team' of two.  Which may become three if Ziro joins them.

Re: Omni's Gratitude

Pretty close to starting tourney, just need to iron out teams and pick out a map.  Will try and get on that tommorow.

Still need to look at Helia and Brini's character sheets, last two for the Tourney.

Will look at Mattias' and Ziro's alts as time allows.

In reply to Kitten (msg # 196):

Pretty much everything I want to do vis a vis my character sheet won't matter until after the tourny when I can get my A-3, so really pretty much nothing is changing that will matter for the tournament.
