Beyond the tower door is a long, ornate hallway.  It must be within the castle walls, because there are no windows along the sides, though there are skylights lining the ceiling above. Through them, you can see dark clouds obscuring the night sky.  It's starting to rain.

The hallway is lit by magic lanterns.  Minor enchantments set to cast light.

There isn't anything obvious in the hallway.  But your Zuni senses are tinging Zuni.  Whoever that blonde was...she's somewhere around here now.

Selvin and Lucky, you are looking through the door into the hallway.  You haven't yet moved into the hall.

Selvin hesitated just inside the hallway. Zac was really hurt, even with the fast healing Selvin had put on him before the fight started. Which seemed so long ago but hadn't really been but maybe a couple of minutes.

So he cast a healing spell on his friend as he looked around, a good chunk of wounds healing over. The two of them slowly moved in to the hallway a bit more, slow and alert.

OOC: How high is the ceiling? Moving on the ground, half-speed after casting the spell.

When Lucky saw Selvin start a healing spell for himself, Lucky grabbed one of the potions and chugged it down.  He was battered and bruised all over and this helped quite a bit.  "Good thinking Selvin.  Honestly, I could use another one."  Lucky stated after he downed the potion.

The ceiling is high overhead.  It looks like there is no upper floor and this hallway is built into the castle wall.  So it's as tall as the tower was.  Three stories. You got room to fly if that's why you are asking.

Behind you, you can hear guards screaming as the purple worm roars.  But even though it's probably only seventy feet behind you, it feels like it's happening a mile away.  All your senses seem focused on this hallway.

And then you see her.  And her.  And her.  And her again.  There are in fact nine of her halfway down the hallway.  And they are all raising a wand to point your way.

"Ah crap.  Heads up, boys." Zuni said, pointing down the hallway.  Of course no one could see what she was pointing at, the motion being more out of reflex.  "I don't suppose you can tell me which one to bury my blade in?"

Selvin blinked and the let out a sigh. He hoped that there wasn't too much more since for the first time in a long time he was actually starting to think he might run out of juice if this kept up much longer.

"Hang on." He flew up a bit and then cast a spell on himself and Zac to allow them see true.

Selvin, your eyes feel itchy and then you can SEE!.  Wow.  That was a bit more intense than it should have been.

None of the images are the Queen.  At least not as you recall last seeing her.  One of the ones at the back kind of looks like her and that Dragon-Lizard-Man-Thing that off'd Chandanar had a baby.  She's scaly and kind of dragon-y looking.  But with a big mass of red hair tied up in a fashionable hairdo.

She mutters something and </b>KRA KOWWW!</b>, a blast of lightning arcs down the hallway, filling it up...

Sorry Lucky and Zuni.  59 pts damage/Reflex save 18- for half.  Unless you're immune to electricity.  Of one of your crazy feats.  Anyway.  Do those rolls lady and gent.

Not knowing if he had drunk enough of the healing potions or not but as Lucky looked up he saw a bolt of lightning streaking toward him.  That gave him plenty of time to dodge to the right behind the open door into the hall. 31 on the reflex save for no damage.

Not wanting this to be a ranged battle Lucky took action.  First, Lucky came around the corner, and within his first few steps, he tossed his starknife that he had taken from his belt.  The toss was perfect and he aimed for the head.

Not sure if they are mirror images but the one closest to us is his target.  Lucky will end his movement at the first her.

Selvin called down, "She's near the back an'...wow. Looks nothin' like the images." He shook his head.

Then he charged at her diagonally, streaking towards the correct entity, ignoring the other images. He unleashed a flurry of electric-charged attacks at her.

Zuni narrowly dodged the bolt of lightning, and cursed.  Selvin had marked their target, and now she had to get to her.  Keeping to the walls, Zuni skirted the edge, racing to try and get behind the 'Queen'.

Selvin frowned as he only actually managed to seemingly hurt her one time out of all of that. He rethought his attack style for the moment, putting a bit more finesse in and less power out. Then he launched another full series of strikes, moving slightly to the side of her for his allies. And tried to pretend he was vulnerable to fire. "No! Not fire! I'm almost out of my resistance ability!"

OOC: So with successful save and resistance, 6 fire damage. Whew.

Lucky moved forward towards the real deal once he recognized the one in front of him was just an image.  His powerful attack had been for nothing.

When Lucky got close he moved to a flanking position with Zuni and slashed his blade one time but hit nothing but air as he completely misjudged his opponent's defenses.

Zuni danced around behind the 'Queen', wincing as she watching the woman jaw unhinge and spout fire.  She hesitated only for a moment.  Regardless of the Queens abilities, she had to go.

"Queen of Korvosa!  Your evil schemes end here with your life!" Zuni snarled as she slashed at the woman back with her Dragon Slaying sword.  The blade flashed in a series of slashes as Zuni became visible.  As she finished her last slash, Zuni reached out with her free hand to grab the womans neck.  "Hold still and take your slaying like a Queen!"

The jaw unhinges again.  This time it's a roiling cloud of acid spouting out of her wide, yawning mouth...

A small, evil smile showed up on Selvin's and Zac's faces, then grew a bit as the acid was completely ineffective against them. "You did better with the fire against me."

He charged at her once more to unleash another set of his normal less-carefully-controlled-than-normal attacks on her, and that seemed to frustrate him as most of them couldn't hurt or hit her.

OOC: Derp. Saw the Fort save bit further down and when I went to roll, rolled that instead of Reflex, lol. Reflex is 1 lower, so still made the save.

Not being able to get in a solid set of attacks on the queen pissed Lucky off as she blipped away.  She didn't go far though and so Lucky turned and charged her with his lead Kukri.  When he neared he slashed at her connecting solidly with his blade.

Zuni raced around the side again, trying to get behind the Queen in her new position, and into a flank with Lucky.  Once in position, she struck out with the longsword.

BTW Zunis Banner ability gives everyone +1 on attack rolls while charging.  And Lucky you get an extra 1D6 precision damage while flanking with Zuni from her Tactician class ability sharing out Precise Strike.  I think Selvin can get it as well.

The mouth once more unhinges.  This time it's a blast of icy air.  Colder than the heart of a landlord in the slums.

And that's pretty darn cold!

Selvin let out an annoyed growl as she disappeared again. "Jumpin' lil'..." The rest trailed off unintelligibly as he was blasted with cold. Most of which he shrugged off, but not all.

He pivoted and then streaked towards her once more, flying low to the ground. He again went more for accuracy than power and this time was rewarded! Most of his attacks actually seemed to land this time around.

OOC: Made the save but even with Cold Resistance 15, some got through. Wait. Crap. UGH. Forgot they have Evasion together so I shouldn't have taken ANY damage from ANY of the breath weapons. Ah well. Remember and learn.

Lucky charged in once more and went to his knees sliding to dodge out of the way of the chilling breath.  Popping back up, Lucky slashed with his kukri hitting her just barely in the Queen's belly.

She took off on Lucky's heels, veering to the side slightly to slip around to the other side of the queen.  Once in position opposite Lucky, Zuni slashed at her with the longsword.

Selvin cocked his head to the side for a moment when she didn't teleport away. She also didn't attack him directly - unsurprising since Zuni was using 'the sword' on her and that was most hurtful he assumed. She breathed again and he shook it off.

Then he unloaded another barrage of attacks, but two of them didn't manage to connect or hurt her.

Lucky took the hit the Queen and took a deep breath in when he saw the Queen open her mouth again to breath on him.  He was about to spring away to dodge but as a cloud came over him he stayed put closing his eyes.  Then Lucky sprang into action and unleashed a flurry of stabs and slashes hoping to put her down before she could do anything else.  "Die bitch!!"

Zuni winced as the Queens claws ripped into her side.  At least it wasn't that nasty breath of hers, the young woman thought.  Ironically, the Queen followed up her slashing attack with just such an action.

Zuni was too close.  She couldn't evade in time and was off balance from the painful hit.  She staggered backwards out of the Queens reach, one hand reaching into a pouch on her belt, fishing for a healing potion.  Still moving, though slower now, she drank the potion.

Zuni, you suddenly feel really, really heavy...Affected as a Slow Spell for the next 8 rounds.

Queen gives you the stink eye Lucky.  She swipes at you but misses quite boldly.

She takes your sting there Selvin and then...leaps upwards.  Straight up until she is high above you.  A pair of large dragon looking wings unfold from her back.  She seems to be getting longer too...

She is definitely transforming.  Probably into a...anyone? Anyone?

A dragon!  Would have also accepted "A real pain in the ass" as a correct answer.

But not quite yet.

This was getting old. She just keep breathing and telepor....oh. That was new. They cocked their heads to the side once more, "Alright then."

Then with a pair of big grins and a roar, they launched themselves in to the air flying directly at the transforming queen, and unleashed what hell they could - and this time more of their strikes had the same old power as usual, but with a bit more accuracy.

When the Queen moved out of his range to strike with his Kukris Lucky cursed his luck.  So, instead of standing near the others to make for a better target for the now transforming Queen, Lucky moved 30ft towards the door.

By the time you arrive and attack Selvin/Zac, Queenie has completed her transformation.  She is now a dragon black as the space in the night sky between stars.

You launch into her, but she seems to ignore you as she pounces downwards...

Roll that readied attack Lucky.

Lucky and Zuni, she is pouncing.  Reflex save 22- or 55 pts damage and you are pinned beneath her bulk.  Not really expecting that to happen here, but you never know.

Zuni, if you took an action while she was in the air, you can post it as well as your action this time.

To be clear:  I expect to see two actions from Lucky (one for the readied attack and one for this coming round), up to two from Zuni (letting you post late from last round and actions for the new round) and one from Selvin (assuming you continue your attack)

Lucky was ready for the dragon queen as she swept down to pancake him and Zuni. Lucky skipped out of the way of the Dragon but stayed in close enough to get in an attack. The blade was nothing compared to size of the dragon but Lucky's attacks were strong nonetheless.

"Ugh" Zuni groaned, her body feeling heavy and sluggish.    Whatever Illeosas breath weapon had done to her, it sucked.  Not as much as the Queen leaping up in to the air and growing dragon wings.  She cursed.  Fancy sword meant to kill the Queen and Zuni couldn't reach her.  She needed to get up there.

She was momentarily stunned as the Queen finished her transformation and then dove down at her.  She cursed again.  It was fast becoming a habit.  Zuni slashed out with her sword but the newly Dragonized Queen was fast.

Lucky, you roll out and come up stabbing, your knife drawing both blood and sparks off the dragon's thick hide.

Zuni, you get a stab in before the weight of Queenie comes down on you like a ton of...well..dragon.

Oomphing, you try to recover so you can attack again...

Not hitting those saves, are you Zuni?

You have a couple of options here.

First, you can try to clear yourself from Queenie.  STR check vs. a 20.  Sorry.  She is a dragon.

Second, you can stay pinned and attack.  Make a STR check vs. 12 to attack and you are at a -2 on the attack roll.  You also need to make a FORT save vs. 12 or take an additional 10 pts damage each round you are pinned.

You can try to quaff a potion as well.  No roll needed for that.

Selvin?  Post me two actions next time please.

Selvin let out a growl of frustration as the queen 'fled' from him again and ignored him, going after his friends instead. He hesitated, seeing how much she jumped around earlier. He cast a quick spell and pointed a finger at her. A green ray spat out and lanced towards her, ignoring some of her protections.

Then he followed her down, charging in on her flank as she dove. He unleashed a flurry of blows once more, lightning surging around him.

OOC: To try and catch up, not sure if he gets an attack of opportunity when she leaves melee with Selvin, but if so, AC 31 for 20 dmg & 1 electric.

Then, last round, he casts Dimensional Anchor on her, Touch AC 28. Not sure if she has Spell Resistance.

Then this current round he charge-pounces her in return in to her back, possibly with flanking, or a -2 for her charging maybe.

With the dragon queen so close and pinning Zuni, Lucky was certain he had to just keep up the attack on her.  He was doing damage and that was all that mattered.  So he slashed with both his kukris drawing more and more blood from the queen.  "Get off my friend you lazy ugly dragon bitch!"

Queenie returns the favor with a claw slash Selvin 22 pts damage, and a wing slap Lucky 17 pts damage.  But she is obviously flustered enough by your attacks that she leaps backwards, off Zuni Thank your fellas Zuni.  No save needed from you this round now.

She lands against the far wall and bellows.  Oh.  No.  That's another breath attack.  This one  is scalding hot steam.

Reflex save 19- or 18 pts damage.  It's more a sauna than a breath weapon.

Selvin and Zac both let out a combined in-unison grunt of pain as they were struck by the Queen Dragon. Then she flew away from them, and they lashed out with a snap of their fangs. Once at the wall she breathed on them but they shook it off.

Then they launched into a charging flight at her once more, lightning streaking behind them as they pounced again. But they mostly just bounced off the scales she had, frustrating the pair more.

OOC: Made the Reflex save. Missed even if she did provoke an attack of opportunity.

And rolled shitty for the attacks. Hit AC 33 for 23 dmg & 6 electric. Hit AC 31 for 24 dmg & 6 electric.

A wide grin spread across Lucky's face as the dragon queen jumped off of Zuni give her companion a chance to rise up again.

When she breathed once again Lucky felt the heat but managed to lower himself to the floor enough to escape the worst of it.

The Queens claws knocked the wind out of Zuni, cutting off her string of curses.  She tried to say something else but her voice was inbetween gasps as she sword her sword.

Zuni gulped in air when the Dragon Queen leapt up from her back.  Feeling like she still had a sleeping, or a preferably dead, dragon on top of her, Zuni slowly rose to her feet.  Just in time to duck a stream of hot steam.

As zesty Zuni regains her feet, Queenie takes the attacks from both Lucky and Selvin.  If they hurt her/it, she/it isn't showing it much.

Queenie suddenly swings around, lashing out with her tail 22 pts damage Selvin and a claw I actually hit Lucky!  18 pts damage!  Ha!  What? Is that like the 3rd time all campaign?

It looks like she's taking in a deep breath.  Probably another breath weapon coming.  It's like she's got a zillion of them.

As you watch Zuni, you suddenly feel a pleasant warmth travel along your legs, and then into your spine.  You recognize this feeling, though it's been a while.

Izzick finishes chanting and nods at you.  He sped you up.  It only cancels out what Queenie had done to you. But you're at least back at regular speed again.

I keep forgetting about Izzy.  You guys should make use of him you know.

Zuni.  He hasted you, which cancelled the slow.  You're back up to Zuni speed again.

Queenie is within striking range of all of you.

Selvin and Zac let out a combined grunt when the Queen hit them. It wasn't the worst hit they'd ever taken, but it wasn't a small one either exactly. They stood their ground, however, with teeth grit. Then they lashed back out with all their attacks, again taking more care for accuracy rather than raw power.

Lucky looked back up after drinking his potion and found the queen gone.  A quick glance had his eyes on her again but at the far end of the hall.  He couldn't get to her to do anything at this time so he reached in and grabbed another potion and chugged it.  "Now, that feels a bit better!  I think we are wearing her down!"

62 HP now

Selvin let out an annoyed growl and rolled his eyes. This was getting very annoying. They launched in to the air and flew towards their enemy in a screaming line, trailing streaks of electricity behind them.

But they kept eyeing the mouth and what breath might next come out of it, only managing to strike her twice.

Zuni looked skyward and let out a frustrated groan.  The blasted Queen kept on jumping away!  How was Zuni supposed to kill her if she kept on teleporting away?!  Sure it made sense tactically to put some distance between herself and the little human with the nasty sword but it was just dragging this fight on.

"How many times can she keep doing that!?" Zuni moaned angrily.  Glaring daggers at the Queen, she pulled out a small vial that she had previously opened and drank it down, feeling the magical contents of the liquid soothing her aches, pains, and burns.

As Zuni and Lucky take a potion break, you charge forward Selvin/Zac. But Queenie swishes a wing which you have to sidestep/side fly, and that throws off your charge.  You land one blow, but she seems to be fine with that.

Instead, she swivels her long neck and lets lose a thick cloud of inky blackness.  It starts to fill up the hallway...

She's casting a massive Darkness spell ya'll.  Lucky and Zuni, you are in darkness at the moment.

Your guys go.  Zuni and Lucky you are about 75' away from where you last saw Queenie.  Selvin, you know where you and Queenie are.

Zuni cursed, finding some more choice words to utter in the darkness.  "Can't see a blasted thing!" she said, taking several steps with her arms outstretched.  If she could find the wall, maybe she could find a way out of darkness and back into the fight.

Lucky couldn't see in the dark but he could certainly hear the combat occurring in front of him.  Not wanting Selvin to stick it out alone, Lucky drank down another potion and then moved towards the sound.

Drink Potion and move 30ft.

Selvin kept pace with the Queen. He was going to try not to let her get away. But he was having some trouble connecting with her often. Too often. He unleashed another flurry, barely noticing the darkness growing behind him. It wouldn't have bothered him anyway.

Zuni, you move in the direction of the wall. Zuni, not to nitpick, but I am assuming you are going for the southern wall since it is closer.  If that is not correct, let me know.  You feel it push back against your outstretched hand.

Selvin, you make some connections.  They seem to sting her but you get the feeling you aren't getting through.  At least she still seems to be bleeding from the wound where Zuni stabbed her.

Queenie turns on you and unleashes a couple of blows that...well.  They're pretty good ones.  18 and 25 HP Selvin.

Lucky, you can hear the combat.  It sounds like it's just up ahead...

Unless something happens with Selvin's post, Lucky you will be out of the dark next round.  Zuni, you can start following the wall towards the sound of fighting.

Go Team!  I would say we're at least half way through with this fight.  Maybe.

Ha!  Found the wall! Zuni grinned as her fingers felt the cool stone of the wall.  Now she could figure out how to get out of the darkness.  It shouldn't be too difficult, what with all the sounds of fighting going on.

First the symbiote lets out a grunt of pain. Then the half-elf inside lets out a sharp noise of pain as well. Both grimace at the same time, however. The fire in their eyes hadn't diminished, though they knew that they might have bitten off more than they could chew this time.

They hesitated for only a second between two decision.

Their mind made up, however, they unleashed another flurry of attacks once more instead of whatever other thing they were contemplating. They had to keep the Queen busy until their allies could rejoin the fight. "THIS WAY!" they bellowed to try and help guide their friends out of the darkness.

She lumbers back.  And seems to start disintergrating.

From the point Zuni's last blow sunk into her side, her skin seems to flake and turn into dust.  The effect spreads, soon radiating out from the wound and along her entire flank.  Queenie's head rolls like she were drunk and then flops down, slapping against the ground, narrowly missing </purple>Lucky</purple>.

Her dragon body is soon a big mass of dragon dust...

Whatcha doin' now?  Huh Tough Guys?  Whatcha. Doin'. Now?

Selvin's lip curled up a bit in disgust as he watched the sight before him happening. "Uh...gross..." He shook his head and took a step back. "I don't mean it t'sound like this was nothin' or anythin' but...was that it? I thought there'd be..." He and Zac both waved one arm around a little, "...I dunno...somethin' spectacular, big explosions, fanfare..."

He looked down at the mess, then up at Zuni. "Heh. Zac an' I're really messed up right now. Gonna need t'heal." And indeed they were both bloody, goopy, terrible-looking messes. "Is there more we gotta do?"

With that said, he cast a spell on his friend.

20:23, Today: Selvin Larst rolled 22 using 3d10+10.  Rejuvenate Eidolon.

"Of course there's more to do." Zuni said, staring at the mass of dragon dust.  She poked it with her sword and then gave it a kick with her boot.  "Zuni is taking over.  We need to anoint her as the new Queen of Korvosa.  I hear she'll rule with an even but firm hand."

She gave the pile of dragon dust another few kicks.  "...this can't be...it..." she muttered.  The fight had not been easy, Selvin and Zacs wounds were proof enough of that, but she was still not entirely sure that they had defeated the Queen.  Surely she had to have another trick up her sleeve.

Of course these thoughts might just be covering up for the fact that Zuni had no idea what they were supposed to do after killing the Queen.

Dodging back a few steps as the dragon began to fall towards him, Lucky watched on with amazement as the dragon became dust.  "Damn, now I can say I never witnessed anything like that before."  Lucky wasn't sure what it meant.

When Zuni basically proclaimed herself Queen, Lucky asked, "You are the new Queen?  I don't follow.. does you holding that blade make it so?  If so, Congratulations are in need."  Lucky gave her a quick bow to further emphasize his point.

Lucky was also trying to hear if there was fighting still outside the hall they were in.

From behind you can still hear sounds of battle Lucky.  But a quick peek through the door shows the fight has moved on.  Apparently the purple worm took care of those behind you.  The sounds of battle sound like they are coming from somewhere deeper in the palace.

Izzick scratches his head.  "Maybe she just wasn't that tough?  I mean...what are the odds something out of left field is going to suddenly occur that would put us all in a desperate fight for not only our lives, but the lives of every man, woman, and child on Glorathania?

And that's when a bright light shines out of the pile of dragon/queen ash, enveloping you all...
