Re: Welcome!

HEY! and thanks for the acceptance. I didn't think we would get in this fast.
Sorry for my delay, but I have been playing Warhammer 40K and Starwars d20 the last 2 days.

My so far thought out concepts are:
-A Dwarven Fighter, former soldier turned adventurer. He is a fierce friend and enemy, holding friends in great esteem, until they truly don't deserve it. And holds a grudge, till things have been sorted out. He loves singing when on the road and will also multiclass to Bard soon.

-An Elf Ranger, going Paladin for the Forestgod after some ranger levels. He is a defender of the forests and nature, becoming more and more obsessed with eradicating anything and anyone that would exploit, corrupt and destroy nature.
The use of nature, both it resources and animals is ok, but over-hunting, extensive deforestation, digging and destruction of spirits and the like will receive a harsh hand.

I am mostly keen about the Elf, but he requires a bit ok "OK'ing" from the GM, as the rules does not allow for it's existence.

If we still need a healer, I can play one, just give me a day to work out a background that is actually interesting.

Zagyg has withdrawn from the game, so we will carry on with 5 adventurers.

Re: Welcome!

So could the other 4 players say definitely if, they want to play, their concept, or a healer, I 4x no thanks on healing, I'll make one, and I can have a sheet ready by mid Wednesday for a Healer or alternative Elven bowman.

Re: Welcome!

I'll definitely be sticking with my original Wizard concept. I'm waiting until everyone else's class is finalized before getting the last touches in on the spellbook, though. I want to complement the party well, and Collegiate Wizard allows a degree of flexibility.

Re: Welcome!

Well like I mentioned if nobody else is interested in playing a healer, I'd be happy to. As far as I can tell, this would leave us without a rogue, but if I had my choice I'd always prefer having no trap expert to having no medic.

...Spirit Shamans have healing spells, don't they? Same list as Druids, but spontaneously cast.

Y'know, I really don't recall. That's a class I've actually never played.

Re: Welcome!

Ganurath is correct.  There would be some limited healing ability there.

Actually, since its spontaneous, it wouldn't work out that bad.

Ganurath:

They make good secondary healers. They are weak primary healers, though, always being a level of 'cure' behind the 8-ball. I also do not want to be the 'healer', I've done that enough over the last 12 months, someone else can do that for a change. I will be using my spells to enhance my combat (and for utility)

My SS is a melee combatant. Do not rely on him for healing the party (although from level 2 I can assist with it).

Well I suppose that decides it. I will have a healer concept worked up and submitted later this evening.

Re: Welcome!

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present Desra Jalarond, adventuring priestess of Heironeous. With blade and bulwark, prayer and pride, she seeks to best the foes of righteousness and justice. Daughter of a poor country cleric of Olidamarra and veteran of one ill-fated expedition (of which she is reluctant to speak).

  ...and Healer.

If who's who has been fleshed out, feel free to submit your character sheets.

Post here when you've done it, please.  Thanks!

Re: Welcome!

Two questions for the DM:

1. You said anything from Unearthed Arcana is fair game. Was that statement strictly regarding variants, or did it extend to content such as traits? I have my eyes on Focused and Polite, you see...

2. I have disposable income! Would you be terribly opposed to a Masterwork Tool of Decipher Script in the form of a linguistics manual, or a scholarly tome on a particular Knowledge field?

Re: Welcome!

1)  I'll allow one flaw and one trait from the UA lists.

2)  How exactly would it be used?

Re: Welcome!

1. I'll favor Focused, then.

2. The Knowledge Tool is simple enough: It's a book that covers the field in broad strokes. By referencing the content, a character would have reference that might jog their memory for more specific information. For example, a field guide for Knowledge (local) might have a list of landmarks for each community referenced, and on that list is a location relevant to a rumor my character is trying to remember.

As for Decipher Script... I'll admit, that's trickier. In hindsight, it'd be hard to fit enough data to warrant that bonus in a 1lb book.

Re: Welcome!

I think I could find a way for the Knowledge Tool...perhaps it gives a 1d6-1 bonus to your skill check.

Decipher script tool might have a 25% chance of having what you're looking for in it.

I'd have to think on the cost though.

Re: Welcome!

Well, in the PHB a Masterwork Tool for a skill that there isn't one pre-written for provides a +2 circumstance bonus for 50gp.

Crayon hasn't logged in since last Thursday (when the game was created).  If they don't log in again before everyone's sheet is finished, we'll continue with four and I'll see another replacement.

Three sheets down and Theridan's should be ready tomorrow.  We'll aim to start once I get his info (no pressure, haha).
