Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Desra poked the howler with the tip of her blade, a couple of times on different parts of its body, just to make sure it was gone for good.
"Well done, Karga. We make a fine team... although you did most of the work." She said it candidly, as if it was necessary to point it out. To an outside observer, that statement was an exercise in obviousness.

"We should drag it away from these tiles..." the naive priestess said while looking at the path with a pout. "I like nothing about this pattern. Will you help me?" she asked and sheathed her sword.

Not possessing the physical strength to be of much help to Desra, Mina closely examined the patterns and markings in the tiles.

"Team....yes." Karga says.  He listens to Desra's suggestion but shrugs.  "The circles must remain guarded," he says slowly.  With a courteous nod, he hops down off the ledge and back into the pit with the summoning circles.  He doesn't even bother the clean the howler's blood off his blade.

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Desra was still recovering from the shock after the Howler had exhaled his last breath. This monster was a formidable opponent, and they were no match for it. Had it not been for the mechanic guardian, they would likely have fallen to its maws...

Quietly, she gathered herself. One deep breath, and she whispered:
"Let have a look at the other end of this Pattern..."

She walked cautiously around the marks on the ground, made sure to not step on it, and walked with her back to the wall, towards the flight of stairs. He shield was still casting enough light for the whole group to see what was going on ahead of them, as well as behind and on the ceiling.

She approached the steps and took a look up. He sheathed her sword, kept her shield strapped on and started climbing.

We're back! Let's go people, follow me.

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

The party moves steadily towards the stairs, Mina pausing to inspect the pattern, and Haaj ready with his bow.

With a shrill battle-cry, three goblins approach the balcony and glare down at the party.  Dressed in hastily-donned armor, they each carry several javelins and have short swords on their hips.

The three goblins launch a javelin each at Haajrayn, Desra and Scalesa.  Haaj is able to deftly dodge the projectile, while Desra deflects the one aimed for her with her shield.  The javelin headed for Scalesa falls short and harmlessly skids to the wall behind her.

Haaj, who had an arrow at the ready, fires at the goblin on the western balcony.  It hits the wall well below the goblin and shatters.

What luck!  I'm loaded!

Scalesa's eyes widen when the projectile aimed at her devout companion bounces off her shield.  Her cross bow is brought up, and fired at the one that she thinks almost succeeded in skewering the Priestess.

Scalesa's arrow whizzes by the goblin's head, but flies wide.

The goblins launch another salvo of javelins, all of which miss their targets as well.

Haaj moves east a little, drawing an another arrow in the process, and lets it fly before the goblin can anticipate it, but the shot goes wide, again.

OOC: Move NE & E for skirmish to kick in, but miss anyway: Haajrayn rolled 10 using 1d20+4. Attack roll.

In reply to Haajrayn (msg # 289):

For the moment the mage chose to stay where she was apparently out of throwing range of the goblins. She really didn't have anything prepared that would help in their current situation. The group really needed to find somewhere to rest, so she could gain her spell powers back.

Then smiling the wizard stepped forward about 5ft and began an incantation. And she let loose her spell.

(Center grease spell on G2, it's possible all three will need to make a save or risk falling, possibly off their perch)

Ranged attacks are unreliable, Desra notes, and she dashes forward to climb the ladder, shield firmly held above her head.
"I'll take care of the last one," she asserts.

Once she reaches the balcony, Desra unsheathe her sword and makes ready to slash some goblin.

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

OOC: Desra can modify her turn if she wishes.

The grease quickly forms under the goblins' feet and catches them completely unaware.  With comic twists, goblins 1 and 2 slip and fall awkwardly...right over the edge!  A sickening *crunch* echoes through the room as the first goblin lands awkwardly on his neck.  He lies still.  The second goblin lands a little more gracefully (which isn't saying much) and ends up in a crumpled heap on the floor.  A slow, painful groan comes from the pitiful creature.

Not at home computer, will update map tomorrow!

Desra only had enough movement to make it to the bottom of the steps.  This map is updated after Mina's turn, in case Desra wanted to change her turn based on the goblins falling.  If not, the next turn will reflect you up on the balcony.

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Desra and Guelph move up the steps and into close combat, while the others maneuver and try to provide cover fire.

The first goblin to fall (G1) remains still, while the other (G2) slowly gets to his feet, looking disoriented.  The goblin left on the balcony takes a slow step towards Desra and swings it's short sword...a miss!

Desra and Guelph can now see an opposite set of stairs leading down the other side of the platform.  Two hobgoblins, alerted by the sounds of battle, move up the stairs.  They are dressed in half-plate armor and the trip up the stairs looks laborious.

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Her hand moving to reload her cross bow once again, Scalesa stops when she hears the rustling of plate armour...and sees two very large Goblinoids come at her companions!  They clearly meant to do harm.

'Not on my watch...'

The Beguiler-of-Fools aims some magical energies at the Hobgoblin closest to Desra.  Strange gestures are made, stranger words are uttered...

Daze on the Hobgoblin who thinks he can handle a Cleric and a Ranger!  Let's not forget, Scalesa's got Unsettling Enchantment!

Once up there, the cleric drew her sword (move action) sent a silent prayer to Heyroneus', asking for his assistance in dispatching the miscreant (immediate action). He sword flashed for a brief instant with a blueish glow.

Desra decided to take advantage of the dazed condition of the hobgoblin. She went for simplicity: a good stab between the ribs, hopefully bypassing the green-skin's armour.(standard action)

Hit AC18 for 3 damage (please tell me she gets a +1 for some reason!)

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Haaj decides it would be best not to have enemies at the party's back and moves a little east before attempting to pincushion it, however, his awful luck holds true and the arrow flies way wide.

OOC: Move east 10' then shoot G2. Unfortunately rolled a 1, for a total of 6: Haajrayn rolled 6 using 1d20+5 ((1)).
