Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Guelph quietly approaches the eastern doors, pointing to them as he looks to Desra. He moves up until he is next to the northernmost of the two doors and waits while the others get into position.

Picking up his bow, Haaj moves to stand 20feet from the doors, and 10feet to the north of the center.
Haaj nods to the ones at the doors, bow and arrow ready.

Once everyone is in position, Desra opens the door.

She hides behind her shield and has her sword at the ready.

"Mina."  Scalesa makes use of more eldritch words and gestures, this time walking up to Mina and tapping her gently as the last syllable is uttered.

If any time is left, the half-elf will return to her former position and load her crossbow, pondering a way to scatter or bewilder the opposition.

Casting mage armour on Mina Black.

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Torchlight reveals a wide and high chamber of gray-green stone.  Chains and manacles hang from the walls.  A round wooden table surrounded by four chairs sits in the middle and copper doors are set in the northern wall beyond.  Painted in red across those doors is a word of some sort.

These goblins wear mismatched pieces of leather, and they are carrying javelins and notched short swords.  The goblins are involved in a game of cards, but turn when the doors are yanked open.

Surprise round for our heroes!

Pretty sure I can only take one action during a surprise round. That's right, isn't it?

OOC:  Yep, one move or standard action.  Also, the goblins' AC is 14.

And yes, ignore the H's....these are goblins, not hobgoblins.

:srd:
If you are able to take only a standard action or a move action on your turn, you can still charge, but you are only allowed to move up to your speed.

ooc : if you allow it, I'll do that.

Desra waits no time in preparation or parley. She rushes forward and takes a wide swing with her longsword, but the goblin ducks the blade easily.
  hit AC12, damage 3...

As the doors open and Guelph rushes forward, Haaj releases the arrow.
It streaks behind the barbarian, descending on the goblin furthest away.

The arrow smacks into the table, scattering a few coins.

Haaj takes a few steps forward to stand in front of, an apparently petrified, Mina.
From here he shoots again after the same goblin as before, this time though, using a moment longer to secure his aim.
This arrow hits the goblin in the left side, inflicting a gash from front to back, the arrow then hits the wall and stays.

Desra did not hesitate much. Her move was straightforward and simple : a wide swing from her sharp blade. Simplistic as it was, there was efficiency in the gesture and the longsword bit the goblin's flesh in depth.

Haajrayn's aim is slightly skewed by Desra, and his arrow flies wide.

OOC:  Desra is giving G3 soft cover from Haaj, +4 to AC

Desra's longsword pierces the goblin in the heart and it falls back across the table, dead.

G3's dead, G1 and G2 are up...

Her attempt on the goblin's life was laughable.  Clicking her tongue, Scalesa keeps her crossbow at her side, but removes her mace from its harness at her side and moves close to Desra.

Moving behind Desra with my light mace drawn.  I don't want to fire any friendly fire at any of you!

As Haaj and Scalesa enter, they can see more of the room:

Piled in the corners of the room are crates and burlap bags, some of them marked with the same moon-and-sheaf sigil you saw on the Sumberton city pennants.  To the east and west are passages, the arches over them are fashioned to look like demons' gaping maws.

Scalesa steps up to the remaining goblin, and swings at it with her mace.  Her attack suggests that she did not pay much attention during whatever lessons she may have had, but there is at least effort in it!

Attacking G3.

Scalesa rolled 2,1 using 1d20,1d6 ((2,1)).

Oh, sweetie, "A" for Effort, indeed!   :(
