Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

With the light from Desra's shield illuminating the way, Guelph moves forward towards the next bridge. He stops for a moment and casts a spell.

Move: E E E E E
Standard: cast Shillelagh on club (lasts 10 rounds, so I'm not stopping lol)

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Desra's light reveals a pair of menacing rats that have climbed up from the bottom of the cavern!  They snarl menacingly, disease-ridden mucus falling from their teeth.  Before Guelph can even cast his spell, they charge towards the heroes!

The first rat strikes Guelph, its teeth sinking deep into his calf.  The second rat's teeth miss Desra with a loud *CLACK* just inches from her leg.

OOC:  Not a surprise round, the rats just beat everyone in initiative!

In reply to Guelph (msg # 130):

Mina yelled out to Guelph, "Duck left Guelph, I have something for him!"

Mina moved right as much as she could to get a clear line of sight and cast the spell she had readied.

OOC: Cast Orb of minor electricity at R1, can you crit with a spell?

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Bow and arrow already in hand. Haaj sees Guelph getting ready to cast a spell, knocks the arrow, while taking a step back, then draws the string and waits for Guelph to finish.

As Guelph takes a step to the side, Haaj lets the arrow go, which misses the critter.
Making Haaj curse yet again

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Desra has some experience fighting rats. It is a classic training exercise at Heiroenus Academy ( ooc : is there such a thing ?). Be quick, always hit sideways, and aim a little behind them... which she fails to accomplish properly. Her blade scratches the stone floor, producing a few orange sparkles to no effect.
Damn those rats are quick !

  hit AC9 !

In reply to Desra Jalarond (msg # 134):

Mina smiled at she watched the effects of her spell on the enemy. She just wished she had been a little quicker, then perhaps Guelph wouldn't have been bitten.

She looked and saw more rats coming, but what concerned her was what happened to the armored goblin? And his friends that he sounded the alarm for. She took a slight step to the left herself and targeted R3 with another spell.

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Mina's blast turns the first rat into a pile of sparking flesh.  Haaj shakes his bow in frustration at missing the small target, and Scalesa takes a defensive posture on the brige, keeping a lookout from behind.  Guelph's club turns into a menacing weapon.  Desra, despite her vast knowledge of rats, misses her target.

The second rat bites at Desra, but she blocks it deftly with her shield.  The third rat approaches and also tries snapping at Desra.  She left an opening with her previous block, but luckily the rat bites nothing but the scale protecting her foot.

Mina's spash of acid lands on the third rat's skin, causing it to blister.

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

OOC: You don't feel any ill effects from the bite.  You're going to fall off the ledge on your turn (the balance check was DC 5)

You can still make a tumble check to avoid some of the damage.

Actually, I can't. Tumble is a trained-only skill and not a class skill to boot.

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

Desra focuses and tries her luck once more, this time putting more heart in the attack. The move is nicely executed and cuts the rat ! It should be dead, but the blow lacked strength...

hit AC23 (crit not confirmed with AC11 I guess) for 3 damage (or 6?)²

In reply to Game Master (msg # 140):

Mina took a breif moment to assess the situation and determine her next course of action. The out of the corner of her eye she saw the warrior Guelph struggling to maintain his balance to keep from plunging headlong into the ravine below.

One second she was standing ten feet away behind Desra, and in the blinking of a eye she just appeared next to Guelph. The warrior suddenly found a delicate hand on his shoulder righting him enough he regained his balance.

"Let's do try and be more careful in the future shall we Master Guelph." she said giving him a little grin. "Now if you don't mind, I detest rats! Vile filthy animals! I believe you were about to introduce them to your club."

Having regained his balance with some assistance, Guelph now focuses on his target. He watches Haajrayn's Arrow sail over the rats, then jumps in and swipes at it with his enchanted club.

Re: Slaughterguarde Laboratory

OOC: Nevermind! :-)

Haaj continues to curse his bow, but fortunately the others in the party are able to pick up the slack.  Guelph, with an appreciative nod to Mina, leaves the third rat as a splatter-mark of blood and viscera.  Desra is already in mid-swing as the blood from Guelph's blow splashes across her face and armor, yet the distraction doesn't bother her one bit.  She pierces the rat's side and it squeals one final time.

The cavern falls silent after once the squeals of the rats are silenced.  Desra's shield casts light out on the ground immediately in front of you, but the cavern outside of 20' remains in the shadows (except for those with low light vision).

"Good lord !" Desra interjected as blood splattered on her shiny plastron and droplets even reached her rosy cheeks.

She wiped it with the back of her glove and grinned. She was not happy, but said naught as it was no one's fault, clearly.
"Let's go," she simple said with a scowl and started moving north, her shield casting light ahead of the group.

move (total defence) uto the edge of the bridge (right side of the map) ; and assess the situation there

"In your debt," Guelph says to Mina after slaying his rat before following along close behind Desra to the next bridge, careful not to topple off the edge.
