It's dark.

A drum beats slowly. Like a heart beat. Somewhere Feather Wait dances up the spirits, those others present likely following suit...

Ohanzee had thought to bring his drum, the instrument that he most often uses, but when he went through his gear to the tortoise shell lyre seemed more appropriate, what with its strings!

So, there in the Darkness he begins to dance and as he does so he plucks on the strings of the lyre as he has seen a spider pluck on the strands of its web checking for the location of any trapped victims.

All of the clans's members of the Shadow people are here, for the anti chaos magic that Granny Eight Legs offer is welcomed amongst warriors.

Feather Wait wears a costume representing the ancient spirit, four extra limbs sown on to it's side. With all the magic about he looks the real deal...

Despite a natural predisposition to avoiding all things spider Salen knew he had to be here, and for many reasons, not the least of which was to represent Condor. He tried to avoid bringing anything valuable, or tasty, and painted his face a mixture of black (from charcoal) and war colours. The Wandering Rangers tended to attract trouble, and they might need all the help they could get.

Grandmother Spider. The Squishy, sticky thread.

Melock emerges from the absolute darkness of the Wastes at night into the close darkness among the Shadow people, leading a bison. He smiles when he hears the sound of many instruments playing their own tunes merging magically into a coherent thrumming, beating sound. He approaches Feather Wait and tethers the bison and then hobbles it as tightly as he can, knowing full well that it won't go quietly to its fate.
His face and neck has also been blacked out, but the four scars on the left of his neck have been highlighted in white and extended across to the right to form 8 legs with the body of the spider where his adams apple is with 8 red dots for the eyes.
Melock turns a full circle to see who is attending, when he see's Ohanzee and Salen, he nods slightly in acknowledgment, though he guess's Salen won't be able to see him in the darkness.
"Let us begin, as the hour is drawing close."
To the beat of the music he draws a web with the bison in the centre and as he draws he sings loudly, expecting the others to join in.
"Grandmother spider what will you do...
When no ones there for you......
Great killer of Chaos we are here for you
When no others come to you....

   I hear spiders crawling
   Dying by others hands
   I hear spiders crawling
   Grandmother Spider accept this gift
Grandmother Spider ...Please don't eat us
Grandmother Spider ...Please don't eat us"

As he finishes drawing the web, he carries on singing and starts to dance around the web, dipping down and touching each outer point on the web.

   "Please help us Great spider
I will help defend your children when they are threatened
let us help each other destroy chaos
In your mighty web...Deep in the dark
Grandmother spider  ...please let us approach
Grandmother spider  ...please let us approach"

Each loop gets faster and more frenzied.

"I see your children, but I can't find you
So please crawl out so I can see you
I know your close but I can't find you
So please crawl out so I can feed you

   I hear spiders crawling
   Dying by others hands
   I hear spiders crawling
   Grandmother Spider accept this gift
Grandmother Spider on your holiest night come to us
Grandmother Spider ...Please don't eat us"

He stops dead and stares in to the darkness.

Ohanzee walks around the edge of the web Melock has etched in the ground and at equal spaces around the wed he places white soft leathery skinned ovoid objects, eight in total; eight lizard eggs.

For you or your children.

Standing in the absolute dark Salen has to rely on senses other than sight, but the unseen ways are familiar to him. The thought that his two companions might be offering him up as one of the sacrifices pass uncomfortably across his thoughts. He stands silently, listening, waiting.

First one eye appears, orange red like a glowing coal, then one after the other until scores float in the darkness like some evil constellation in the night sky.

Next comes the click click of mandibles snapping together hungrily.

Through the air tiny spiders float lazily atop strands of their mother's web, coming to land on all available surfaces...People, ground, offerings...Open mouths, hair, eyes.

"Feed me."

There's a surge of movement more felt than seen, then the Bison grunts, sags, expands and then sags again before dropping to the ground, shrivelled and spent.

"Worship me" comes the still hungry voice of the ancient darkness spirit.

Feather Wait and Melock lead the celebrations, with many of those present sacrificing for magic, summoning spider spirits and offering their promises of further worship.
