How does an outlay of 100 lunars to cover food and equipment for the trip into the Rubble? Means you have everything within reason you might need.

No repeating crossbows, healing potions etc. Though you can possibly buy those.

Great list, Melock. Lightwall might be handy in an emergency. Anyone got it? Potion or matrix time? I'd buy the latter if affordable. And inscribed on something one can hide in the Stronglands.

The inland areas are the coldest in the winter.

Im on the coast in the North just below the arctic circle. Summer last year was in the mid 30s for months. It was just like being back in Oz.

Hud:
Anyone fancy going rat hunting?

Shall we do so in a PM for Greg during the hiatus of our beloved GM? PM as we'll not then impact on the post limit on this thread. I propose we discuss swearing harmony in order to tap into Issaries' ability to allow us a use of Becx's "levitation" to equalise our Mv. rates on condition no-one eats anyone else (on pain of the Levitation going haywire and dumping the malefactor head-down in a fuller's bucket until fatally and permanently drowned in wee). Premise: Issaries approaches us in our dreams and offers us a POW increase roll (GM to confirm or disconfirm for the real game) if we save a favoured grain merchant from a problem.

Snakes and anyone else has RQ2 rulebook stats rolled for ourselves. Manul cats and others treated like their nearest equivalents with proper HP e.g. Shadow Cats. Rolled for ourselves. Not translated to the real game. Rats like rubble runners (no offence) but less bite damage as no "flip-top head". Whole thing like a dreamquest. Off the cuff idea, not clear on mechanics yet. Initial thought is we have the same number of enemies as us, ability to tap into our binders' spells, and so forth. Abort the whole thing if GM returns to activity while the game is afoot as that will be ipso facto more interesting.

Freeform scenario but in combat we roll dice for ourselves and the enemy. Death = minus one permanent POW to stuff the dream self back into the real body. Any takers on the concept?

If enough of us like the idea, I'll set up the PM and set a scene but am not volunteering to be an ersatz GM. I have neither time nor robustness for that sort of responsibility. Collective storytelling with some dice is the basic idea here.

Sorry to hear that Amara.  Hope next year is better for you.
Life for me this past year has been just too busy (as with last year).  I had hoped to reply on the PM story that Hoskar was suggesting but got too busy, and now I'm at the office even though we officially closed for Christmas on Friday.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and hopefully we'll pick up the game again when everyone's ready.

Terribly sorry, people. Started something as Four Paws that I proved unable to finish. Issues with the old depressive Black Dog plus geriatric parents being in danger of ending up in a home. "The old folks say there's no place like home, but you try putting them in one..." :)

Bless you all. Should the game never restart, I am Ralph Hayward and Melock has me as a friend on fb. Having known and loved* you all please do drop by. You have given me the best of times, and I hope I too have spread some sweetness and light.

Don't let it get you down Hoskar, I hope there are other places on the inter-webs where you can get a touch of the RQ medicine.

I'm William O'Neill on Facebook, and I think we may have crossed paths on one of the forum posts. If anybody prefers to go on calling my Temush there, then that's OK too. You should see a friend request from me, if my escalating age is not sufficient bar to technological progress.

That's fine, Hoskar.  IIRC, I had said I was going to post something, but I never got around to it, so I'm the one who should apologise.  The last 2 years have been particularly busy for me.

I hope you and your parents are better now.
I've really enjoyed playing with you all (and hope it'll restart some time).  This game brought me back to role playing after an absence of many, many years.  It's been inspiring to see how creative you all are, which always spurred me to try to lift my own game.

While I've been too busy to join any other PBP game (I'd feel like I was letting down the others if went AWOL for stretches), I have started playing RPGs with friends here in Perth Western Australia (on the odd occasion when we all have the time to meet up).  Not RuneQuest, sadly, since they all mainly play D&D or Pathfinder, but I live in hope of introducing them to RQ sometime...  (they're probably sick of hearing me talk of it.)

I try to avoid social media, so apologies that I don't friend any of you online.  For the same privacy reasons, I prefer not to post my name online, but am happy do so if anyone asks via direct message  :P

It has been good being part of this, sadly looks like its not coming back to a live game or at least no time soon.

I tend to be more easily found at RPG.net where I post as Monster Mash.

I am lucky in liking old school D&D games as well as RQ as I can usually play in a couple of those online, but having a job finding another RQ game at the moment.

YE GODS, is this old den of rapscallions still kicking about?!?

I gave up PbP almost overnight about a year ago, not that I'd been prolific in recent years in any case. I just lost my mojo. But once in every red moon something stirs the soul - an accidental PM on Dragonsfoot that was deleted, but remained in my inbox; my best mate buying Gloomhaven which we played for the first time last week; one of Melock's many FB funnies (yes I'm on there too, I can find some of you)...

The road goes ever on, as someone once said, though in Prax it usually leads to an ambush. Here's hoping Malia's latest trick doesn't bite you in the ass too hard, and happy hunting.

I'm fine.  Not sure when I'm eligible for a COVID vaccine shot.  The rollout of vaccines started just a few weeks ago and now the EU is restricting export of vaccines (including to Australia)...  :P  But I'm lucky that I live in Western Australia, where there has been very little incidence of COVID-19 (though small businesses suffered due to restrictions for several months in early 2020 to stop any outbreak).  Perth was in lockdown for 1 week earlier this year because 1 case of community transmission was found.  No further community transmission since.

As Temush mentioned, I've been playing another RQ game here (but RQ Glorantha rules) with some others from this game.

I've always tried to avoid social media like facebook, sorry.

Homebrew, kinda inspired by Glorantha, Conan, GoT (less so), and other fantasy backdrops. Heavy on the culture stuff.

Slavery has just been abolished (in the last 20 years) and the heroes are the first generation born “free.”
But something is wrong, and it seems like someone isn’t honoring the treaties.
The party has been asked by the Emperor to help find out what’s going on.
The threat is greater than anyone could have imagined, humanity’s worst sins transformed into its worst nightmares

Or something like that.

It’s a reimagining of an arc I had in mind in a game I ran before, and I’m going to use a variant name “Branneron’s Stone Guard” (the first was “Branneron’s Black Guard”)

It would be a mix of a bunch of scenarios, a lot of them published. A lot of the “Book of Quests” stuff, Monster AND Griffin Island, as culture and source material, and other stuff I’ve bought along the way.  Possibly some Constantinople/Cities stuff down the road. All peppered into an overall arc I have in mind.

If folks are interested, I can invite people when it’s built out more and ready to run.

Glad to see folks are well. It's been an age...or feels like one now. Afraid I'm currently rushed off my gourd at work (lockdown's been a tough old time for the students) and when not at work things are a mite fraught too so I'm in no position to commit to games at the moment. Drattit. Wish it was otherwise. These both sound fun. All's okay with the Better Half, I hasten to add, but "family stuff" more generally plus a friend defending against legal shenannigins.

Still, at least I got a dose of Pfizer in the arm a few weeks back, so here's to kicking Mallia right up her bony old behind.

I'd be interested in some RQ gaming.

Not a big social media user on FB, though I use other things like twitter a bit.

Re: OOC 21

Hello all!

I am going to start taking Players for my new game.

I don’t want to take on too many players (it makes GMing on RPOL much more difficult in my experience), so I’m trying to keep it to 4-5 players.

I’m also going to try to (at least) start with a bang, and a fast posting rate (3-4 times per week), which may calm down after the initial adventure or 3. So if frequent posting isn’t possible, it may not be the game for you. I am always open to letting folks be added lurkers and readers, so if you’d like that, we can do it.

I’m using the Mythras system- a branch of the RQ tree, and as such should be easy for everyone Familiar with this system to pick up. There are some modern gaming wrinkles added to the system though, so it’s probably worth picking up and checking out if you want to join up.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Here’s the game!

Technically in 3 real life/face-to-face games at the moment (one Pathfinder 1e, one D&D 5e, one Call of Cthulhu), but sessions are irregular and take place every few months...

I too have been gameless for some years, but might just about come back to life at some point. Although I only have RQ6 (not Mythras), I might give Akala a nudge. I've  kept up on the new Chaosium Gloranthan materials, but trying to keep up with the Jonstown Compendium stuff is too rich even for my blood.

Temush Blinking-cloud:
But really, is it going to tell me anything that wasn't in Cults of Prax 40 years ago?

Perhaps it's because of my fascination with the works of Oliver Dickinson, but I can't wait to see what they make of Vinga: will she be Orlanthsdottir, or an aspect of Orlanth, or both depending on one's myth, or something else perchance? Whatever they come up with, I imagine there'll be a new "Griselda was a Vingan" line of argument to squish.
The other one I'll be looking forward to is the Solar book: what on earth they do with [Y]Elm[al][io] could be fascinating.

In the "real world" my dad passed away (C19) August 2021 and I'm still helping my mum clear out his lifetime of hoarded stuff. Don't waste your sympathies on me on that one though - my current growl is, "Instead of bequeathing me an inheritance he bequeather me a bloomin' job". Oh, and t'missus is fully recovered and cured after spending a year on chemo for Hodgkins. So it's been an "interesting" couple of years but all is merry and bright now.

Hope the Wandering Rangers are doing well; and still keeping my fingers crossed that our beloved GM (who doesn't seem to want to be found and is damn good at hiding any online presence) is OK. Or at least not dead in a ditch.

Hope you made a complete recovery, Salen.

I got Covid in December last year (when there was expected to be a spike of infections where I am).  Meant I missed Christmas get-togethers, but I was fortunate I only got a mild version.
And I was very fortunate in that, if I had to get Covid, it was the best time - 2 weddings in November, then got Covid/isolated in December and recovered in time to fly overseas in early January for a 3rd wedding feeling safe that I should have immunity while overseas.
Unfortunately none of the weddings were mine  :(

Re: OOC 21

Yeah, couple of really horrible weeks and still didn't feel great after that, but fine now.

I actually tested positive with my eldest on Christmas Eve 2021 - she had symptoms, I didn't. Meant we had to cancel all our plans for Christmas, but as we were meant to host my wife's family it didn't upset me that much! (They're nice, I'm just having a laugh)

Re: OOC 21

Congratulations Amara, good luck with the sleep

I also had Covid for the first time over Christmas, and then again in August, immunity perhaps shorter than I would have hoped, but both were relatively mild, so all good.

Re: OOC 21

I've ended up with pneumonia 3 times over the last 18 months (was hospitalised once) and each and every time I had a COVID test that returned negative. I think I may be the only person in my work unit or even back home that has not caught COVID. It really sucks and I hope you all feel better and I REALLY hope I don't catch it myself.
