Ohanzee is now (since the talk preceeding the wyvrn incident) hooked on the idea of obtaining a flying mount. Options I can think of are (shout of any more in the riffing thread and I'll update here):

1. Given the Orlanthi centric nature of the Sky Watchers he has perhaps heard of the Stormwalk Path heroquest.
2. A large flying insect traded/stolen from the Uz....
3. A more thought out approach to gaining a wyvern as it's been done before.

Win the hand of Whispers from the Sky

Shaman Apprenticeships. There will be a week long ceremony that I will deal with IC. This is to see if you are accepted. The apprenticeship will take a year. During this time you will be unable to do anything else.

I suggest we do this from Sacred Time to sacred Time next year.  We can skip a year, which is something I always said we would likely do. Everyone will go up in skills and we can discuss what you'd like to achieve in that year and we can do some small encounters/raids etc. Those doing Apprenticeships can have some time off, sent by their shamans. Perhaps a trip to the paps to find Ronance. Finish cleansing the waters of the GFH, etc. The clan will move to the Zola Fel so we could fight settlers. Those not becoming shamans can advance their initiations in their other cults.

Then at the end of the year we could then decide on a major expedition:

Big Rubble* to search for Emesh-Ga's armour and axe, the White Lance, loot etc.

Follow on leads from the up coming river scouting.*

Search for some of the great treasures of Prax#

Look for Genert's Palace and Body=Expedition to the Tunnelled hills#

find some friendly elves to help us speed up the greening of the wastes.

Go to the Garden in the Big Rubble.

There's some good stuff that links them, the gardeners and the old Pavites, especially mani's fort.

Ohanzee has unwittingly been drawn into the Tada and the Beautiful Woman HeroQuest which was initiated by Tella Falabdur.

He has been through the Meeting station when the quest brought him to Corflu and brought he and Tella together, she being noticed through her sheer beauty and he getting noticed by intervening to prevent her getting swindled.

The Wooing station required feats that would show his worthiness and was completed with the successful removal of the Black Eel threat.

My addition: White Lance is back being important for me, having seen it when dead and then in a vision. I can imagine someone like Amara being able to pierce the bleedin' Lunar Bat with that thing.

White lance is important to Amara too, but primarily because it's a rhino rider hero that carries it.... and being able to pierce the foes of the Lunar Empire's Crimson Bat's hide with it

This will certainly happen during the trip to Pavis. The party has met some Lunars earlier and I'm sure if you ask other Ohanzee or Amara they will be only to glad to share their experiences...

Perhaps join the Thirstless Society.

What is the Dawn Beast?  Something from Prax, I imagine, but that's all I know.

And personally, I'd like some encounter with Uz (with the Pavis trip providing an opportunity).

I have no idea either. But yes to the Uz, they are my favourite creatures of Glorantha.

A quick search tells the Dawn Beast is a unit/spirit/entity from Nomad Gods.  That's all.
Uz are my favourite too.  Love Trollpak.

in David Scott's post on BRP about 'Ecology in the Wastes' he mentions that 'The High priestess of Aldrya at the Paps always encourages heroquests to establish plants, she clearly works with the elves of the Garden in the Rubble to this end'
So if the elves of the Garden won't talk to us, then we could go on a quest to the Paps and talk to her instead, I'm guessing she would be interested in that seed from Whitewood.

Cleaning the murals

Despite his words about catching up with Melock, Hoskar finds himself cleaning murals. Not sure if I was invited - maybe they have Raven business - and there might be writing here

As he scrubs away, one new picture draws his attention; a strangely-garbed caravan of merchants approaching the post with faces brightly illumined as Bright Treasure sets before them. The faces are strange to him, bearing a cast to their eyes quite unlike the men of the plains or even those living to the west. They seem robed in a shiny material patterned with realistic images of something...a something with legs but also scales covering long sinuous bodies; nostrils broad. Not a snake for sure, nor a wyvern. Perhaps closer to the latter, but presented as if exuding more raw power. The men themselves look almost akin to the robes somehow: exotic, thin, hair straight, long and tied back...or are those things plaits? One man - trader prince perhaps - is bowing low; as if in greeting to the artist.

As he reveals more of the picture, it seems their cargo is a statue, man-headed but with a body akin to the lizard-thing on their robes. On its chest is a rune Hoskar has not seen before: a square balanced on its point, crossed through in both directions.  Although the background is clearly near here, the whole image has an unsettling quality of otherness to it, unfamiliar runes and visages adding to its disquieting note.

Hoskar draws breath sharply, an audible hiss of amazement. Horn and hide. If this is taken from life, they had some weird visitors here.


Voras grimaces upon learning of Umbra's demise.  "If we plan to do any more investigation in that direction, we'll have to come up with another method."

After spending the night in the courtyard, he rises with the dawn the next morning, whispering a quick prayer to Sun Hawk before returning to clean the murals in a small side room.  As he cleans, he notices that the grime is not quite as thick in one section of the wall.  Wiping the built-up dirt and dust away, Voras discovers that whatever the original mural here was has been painted over. This mural is old enough to have been once again covered by the ever-present sands of the wastes, but clearly far younger than the rest of the trading post, as is evidenced by the scene depicted - the Red Goddess wrapping the earth around her as the Red Moon first rises to the sky in Dara Happa.

Who were those who made this painting and why did they travel here?

Unicorns

Are the Skywatchers a unicorn clan that when they lost their unicorns at the end of the green age, transitioned to the next best thing? A bigger bulkier horse with a horn on the end?

When we restore the green and bring back unicorns....will the skywatchers move back to being a unicorn clan.....or will they stay on rhinos?

Not sure how all the men will deal with that as only women can ride unicorns. Nice concept though.

Obviously, the men rode rhinos originally. :-)

The Skywatchers are a fusion clan, an amalgamation of a rhino clan and a unicorn clan, so the unicorn clan would survive post unicorn...

Facts:

1. Only women can ride unicorns.
2. Melock is riding a unicorn.

Conclusion:

Melock has inadvertently started a heroquest the result of which is that he becomes a woman :D

If, because of his short ride, Melock has a visit from Mr Floppy, I guess he'll have to find some more unicorn riders and persuade them to lift the curse. Yet another reason to go to Pavis.

The Raven ostrich-brave Hide in Cover (who traded intoxicants with Melock) was the best qualified Big Pecker to escape the Broo pursuit, (if he lived long enough to choose to run away).

When is the Garhound contest? Might be fun to get drawn into that if it coincides with our visit, especially as it is all about winning the hand of the Harvest Bride and so  bringing fertility for the year.

There's an Orlanth ceremony at Pairing a Stones to defeat Daga and bring rain to Prax and Pavis on Orlanth's high holy day, Windsday, Movemnet week Storm season.

Should have brought the pot with Daga in it!. This will also be Amara's initiation day and for anyone who wishes to initiate in Orlanth adventurous.

It might still be good for the snappy couple to be in on the ceremony though, since they have previous in confronting Daga
