BTW, I'm going to be out of the country from April 19 to roughly May 9.  I'm visiting my brother in Botswana again, and, unlike last time, we'll be heading out into the bush.  I'm not sure there will be cellular out there, let alone internet.  Last I may be able to post will be next Tuesday evening.

Yeah, sorry.  I'll make a post tomorrow.  Busy days at work.  Getting ready for a short vacation to NYC while the grandparents watch the kids.  It's hard to choose activities.  So many things I want to do on a couple child-free days.  Ride bikes in Central Park?  Enjoy a slow-paced brunch?  See a Broadway Show?

Any thoughts on items?  Obviously the War Razor and the Leather Armor aren't any use for Cato, though the Ring of Protection is probably useful for pretty much anyone.  Cato certainly wouldn't say no to it, though maybe someone who gets hit more in melee would get better use from it.

I'm hoping for a Bat Computer.  Wouldn't that be cool?

But, on the topic of loot, Pisca could use the Ring of Protection if she's going to continue to perform the role of shield in combats.  Pisca, as a bard, has no option for defensive spells.  But, then again, we've all been attacked at one time or another.

What might ultimately be the best option for this sort of gnome-as-shield tactic, would be a wand of Mage Armor.  Pisca's coming up on a time at which the chances of UMD success are pretty good.

Another tactical possibility I'm going to pursue is the Dervish Dance feat.

To reflect your work together, during the levelling process, each party member may take a free teamwork feat of their choice (subject to my approval).  Of course, teamwork feats are more useful if multiple people have them, so you'll probably want to figure out which one or two feats would be best for the party.

Pisca is BACK!  Well, sort of.  Got back into Gaborone last night and am posting from my brother's place.  Internet.  A bed.  All mod cons.  Ahhh.  Still have to make the long flight back home.

But the trip was amazing.  4-Wheeling through the African bush.  Getting stuck in the mud.  Getting stuck in the sand.  Breaking down kilometers from any form of civilization.  The couple who came to tow us out were so nice that it made the breakdown worth it.  Then having the transmission repairs all covered under warrantee.  What a nice surprise.  We had an elephant come right into our camp.  Baboons who trashed the camp right next to us.  Got to within feet of a lion pride around their kill.  And so many stars in the night sky.

I hope you're feeling better, Liseth.  That teamwork feat sounds very cool.  Didn't we discuss this before?  What feat had we decided on?  I think you had narrowed things to one or two that were very nice.

Re: OOC Thread #10:  Commandments

Wow Pisca, that sounds like a real adventure!  I hope you didn't have trouble with gobbies.

But we had discussed Escape Route as our teamwork feat, I think we settled on it as being the most generally useful.  There were a couple others that we looked at too if we want to reconsider our options:

Lookout:
Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, you may act in the surprise round as long as your ally would normally be able to act in the surprise round. If you would normally be denied the ability to act in the surprise round, your initiative is equal to your initiative roll or the roll of your ally –1, whichever is lower. If both you and your ally would be able to act in the surprise round without the aid of this feat, you may take both a standard and a move action (or a full-round action) during the surprise round.

Let's more of us act in the surprise round.  If one of us isn't surprised, none of us are.

Outflank:
Whenever you and an ally who also has this feat are flanking the same creature, your flanking bonus on attack rolls increases to +4. In addition, whenever you score a critical hit against the flanked creature, it provokes an attack of opportunity from your ally.

This would mostly benefit Pisca and Kellan, when Pisca flanks for him Kellan gets +4 to hit instead of +2.  And the chance for free attacks!  The rest of teh party would probably select something else if Pisca and Kellan took this one.

Coordinated Defense:
Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, you receive a +2 competence bonus to your Combat Maneuver Defense. This bonus increases to +4 if the creature attempting the maneuver is larger than both you and your ally.

This is just pure defense for us, though I'll admit it probably helps me more than anyone else.

Escape Route:
An ally who also has this feat provokes no attacks of opportunity for moving through squares adjacent to you or within your space.

But this one is generally very useful.  Less AoOs for movement helps us re-position in combat.  I know it's come come up with me quite a lot!

That feat seems like it's right up Kellan's alley.  Then you could get Vital Strike too!  Since Felling Smash is a single attack, you could mix it with Vital Strike (which can only be used when making a single attack) so that your Felling Smash rolls double the damage dice on top of tripping.

That's why they call you Kellan "Ogre STOMP" Storval!

I did some research and there's actually a thread about this on the Paizo boards:

http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2l...?Oracle-Life-Mystery

If you look at the first post it says "Staff Response:  no reply required."

Thanks for the help, Paizo.  :P  But what I'm guessing that means is that Life Oracles get neutralize poison as a third level spell, like Druids.  So it will count as a third-level spell for spells per day purposes and for DC purposes.

Re: OOC Thread #10:  Commandments

That's what I was thinking too.  Consecrate would also help in any situation where we were fighting undead; -1 to attacks, damage, and saves as well as +3 to the DC of my channeling against them.

The drawback is that Consecrate is an expensive spell to cast.  The Material components amount to 50 gold; a vial of holy water and powdered silver.  I was thinking that I might be able to get by with purchasing a scroll or two of consecrate.

Sacred Space is almost the same effect as consecrate, but targets evil outsiders instead of undead and has no material cost.  That's why I was looking at it too.

But the more I look at level 2, the more I think Burst of Radiance is a good idea.  An area blind that also damages evil creatures.  We're always fighting evil creatures, and blinding a bunch of baddies can't hurt!

We should go to the Cathedral.  It wouldn't do to take these bodies all around Sandpoint with us!

Also...

My SECOND niece was born yesterday; her name is Madeline.

Now I'm wondering how I'm supposed to give toys and things to each individually without both laying a claim!

Congrats Liseth!

Sounds like a wonderful little family.

And the Cathedral works for me... The consecration issue is pretty pressing. Maybe Liseth could even learn the ritual in game for this purpose specifically?

Cathedral sounds good.  Though, I've been thinking that a visit to Jubrayl might be in order too.  I don't think there are many better sources for information on a shadowy organization out of Magnimar than Jubrayl.  Also, now that Pisca has shaken her illusions about her relationship with Jubrayl, I think now might be a perfect time to start afresh with a more business-like one.

Re: OOC Thread #10:  Commandments

I'm done leveling to six.

Question: How are we going to handle equipment and upgrades?  I know we haven't been keeping a very strict accounting.  But acquiring equipment, especially magical in nature is part of the game.  Kellan, specifically has mentioned upgrading.  How would you like to go about it?

Here's a suggestion that might be the least onerous.  The list below charts a suggested wealth by level.  Why not let us design our equipment based on the suggested amount?  I believe you let me do this with Pisca at Level 5.  So, in her case, I would simply add equipment equaling or less than the difference between Level 5 and Level 6, which is 5500GP.  All equipment is, of course, subject to your approval.

I am in complete agreement with visiting the Cathedral and then the mayor.  Cato also wants to visit Brodert, to pick his brain about anything he might have to add about liches and/or a secret cavern under the grounds at the Foxglove Estate.

Oh, a point about equipment: I am intending Cato to be able to help craft some magical items.  He has Craft Wondrous Item already, so we should be able to get those for half off, if we have time to spend on crafting.

This sounds fine to me.  Total up the gp value of the equipment you have so far, then you can add equipment up to the wealth-by-level standard.

Give me a list of the equipment you're planning to purchase and I'll let you know if it's available in Sandpoint.  There will of course be a wider selection of items available in Magnimar, so if Sandpoint does not have an item you're looking for you can hold off and wait until then.

I'm going to experiment with UMD.  Gold at this level will be invested in Muleback Cords (having nothing to do with UMD), a wand of Mage Armor, and a Circlet of Persuasion.  With the Circlet, she should be pretty close to hitting the 20 for activating a wand every time.

I mean, I know what a wand costs, I just don't know how many charges they have left.  I think I've used a few from the Wand of Shocking Grasp vs that creepy 7-star carrying enemy.

Sorry I vanished for the last month plus...

I've been in a stress-panic since June; I'm moving to a new city to attend the University of Oregon.  Between finding a place to live and fretting over whether I've been accepted by the university in the first place, I pretty well shut down socially.

Too much stress and I become a buttoned-up introvert.

But everything is finally settled; I can register for classes starting August 7th, and I can move in to my new place starting August 11th.  I'm glad I managed to beat the Eclipse Rush; finding a place was next to impossible.

Sorry again everyone; I hope I didn't hold the game up too much.

No, you haven't been holding up the game.  I'VE been holding up the game.

Yes, a crazy summer.  Health issues in the family.  A trial.  Co-workers getting sick, forcing me to pick up cases that I have zero familiarity with.

So here's my plan.  I'm going to Alaska starting July 31st.  I'll be back on the 11th.  So why don't we extend our hiatus until the 13th.  My kids will be starting school again as well, so I'll have a lot more uninterrupted time during the day to get posts up.

Again, I can't apologize enough for this summer.  Hopefully we can hit the ground running in mid-August.  Thanks for staying tuned in!  :)

Re: OOC Thread #10:  Commandments

So I'm thinking that everyone's ending up back at the Rusty Dragon.  I'm going to post a response to Kellan from Ameiko now.  Let me know when you're done for today and I'll kick off the next day heading to Magnimar.

As far as the next day goes, do you want to start out in Sandpoint the next day or would you rather just have me write something that gets you to the gates of Magnimar?

Beautiful description of the bazaar.  Very nice.

I take it that this ...
The Raconteur:
“Yes, that Arwick Tosscobble.”  He looked up to see if any of the party took notice of his name.  Disappointed at the lack of reaction, he continued.

... is the result of multiple failed knowledge checks among us?  If not, mayI have just such a knowledge check whereby I might discover what it is that he's talking about?

Hmmm.  In fact, Taking 10 using the bard's Lore Master ability nets me a Knowledge Local of 20.  Can we go with that?  Knowledge History Taking 10 and using Archaeologist's Luck gives me 21, if that doesn't work.

So ...

Muleback Cords
Wand of Mage Armor
Circlet of Persuasion

And, maybe, with the addition of Muleback Cords, a longspear.

Re: OOC Thread #10:  Commandments

I am so sorry that I was away for so long.  All Summer, really...

The last few months have been an event, let me tell you.  Moving to a new city, starting at the University.  I had to pack up my house and put everything in storage; then move everything into an UPSTAIRS apartment.  I'm still trying to get everything organized; I might just be forced to keep some boxes of things in a few closets.

Also, a desk fell on me during the move.  That was less than fun.

Anyway, everything has settled down into a routine, finally.  Classes are going well but I am having to get used to being surrounded by teenagers.  Thousands of them.  It really feels weird, like being the adult taking classes in high school.  It's kind of sad to see all these kids treat it like high school minus their parents too.  But I guess I'm a little lucky that most people think me a lot younger than I actually am.  At least I look like I belong.

So, I have some reading to do in order to catch up.  I am so sorry...again...about being gone for so long.  I will try to update between classes tomorrow, during the weekend at the latest.

Sorry...

And there's the conversation about magical items.  Did we have gold to buy things individually?  I'm not sure what I would want...maybe a lighter (mithril) shield to complement my armor...or a headband of Charisma just to boost all my abilities.

Oof, I spent 14 hours over the last three days doing physics problems for homework.  Some of them I had to beat over the head with math until the numbers worked.  Checking answers and calculations.

Then I come to class with the completed homework and not only is everyone talking about the assignment, but they all have the wrong answers!  They're trying to convince me that they have it right, when I had already discounted their solution as impossible by checking my own work.  And since no one else arrived at the answer I had after hours of number crunching and assessment, THEY think I'M wrong.

Lousy teenagers, there's no way to convince them that arriving at a quick, simple solution in physics is so often wrong.

I'm going to post later tonight, sorry for the delay!

Ugh!  I got home from classes today and find my dog missing.  My roommate left the front door open after taking a walk, and my dog decided to follow without them ever noticing.  They didn't know he was gone until I got home and asked where my dog was!

This whole mess cost me 3 hours, a trip to the animal shelter, $100 paid with my student loans, and my faith in my roommate's competence.  Now how am I supposed to go to class in the morning when I'm worried they'll let the dog out again?

Possible Restart

Hello all,

Well, I apologize for my disappearance!  But here I am.  I am willing to get this game restarted again, but if we do that I think we all need to re-commit to the game, meaning everyone posts every day during the week for at least the first few weeks to get things rolling.  That's what kind of disheartened me about the game previously . . . it seemed (to me, at least) that the commitment to the game was waning.

So I'm willing to get back into the saddle if everyone else is willing to do so.  I'm thinking about a restart date of April 16th or 23rd, whatever works best for everyone's schedules.

If you guys are over the game I completely understand.  But if you want to get it back into gear and are committed to doing that I'm on board as well.  :)  Let me know.

It's not that I've ever lost any sort commitment to the game; far from it.  I just...button up when my depression gets too deep.  It's been pretty bad for most of the last year but I feel like I'm on the tail end of a long spell.  I've been seeing a new (much better) counselor since I began taking classes at the U of O.

Suffice it to say, this is the best game and group I've ever been involved with.  Of course I want to get everything rolling along again.

Re: Possible Restart

So I've been giving this some thought.  I think what we need is a way to keep everything fresh; fresh and new is exciting, once it becomes routine is when posting rates decline.

What I want to propose is that we alternate campaigns on occasion.  Don't run two games concurrently; that's a big hassle.  But have another game with different characters that we switch between.

For example, say we play Runelords for a few months and finish the chapter that we're on in the adventure path.  Then instead of jumping straight into the next chapter, we take a break from Runelords and play in a different campaign with different characters.  Maybe even have another one of us GM if we're all up for it; to give Racon a break.

We do that campaign for a while, then switch back to Runelords.  That way we can keep things interesting and hopefully combat the laxness that comes with everything being too routine.

What do you all think?

A solid jump back into the meat of the story would probably be a good call I think. To start building that momentum again, and then we can always come back to the more low key RP after we are back on track.

I can go either way of course.

The halfling had similar news for Pisca; he actually had Muleback Cords on hand, and he could find her a Wand of Mage Armor inside of a week.  But the Circlet of Persuasion, he informed her sadly, was (to his knowledge) not available in the city.  At least at this time.  But he promised her to keep an eye out for one.

Muleback Chords for certain.
No Circlet of Persuassion for certain.
Wand of Mage Armor maybe?

Since the Circlet of Persuasion is a no go, could you rule on these items, please.

Boots of Striding and Springing: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-...riding-and-springing
Slippers of Spider Climbing: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-...s-of-spider-climbing

I seem to recall that the way we were handling funds was to simply put our wealth at the expected 16,000 for PCs at our level once we made it to 6.  As a way to get around the hassle of tallying up the treasure from Foxglove's Manor.  Then calculate the value of the magic items we already had and use the difference to purchase new ones.

Did I have this correct as anyone else recollects?  Or am I sailing on a different ship entirely?

Do you guys have any thoughts on the best way to have the combat characters (Kellan and Kerr) upgrade their weapons and armor?  Just have Arwick deliver it to the Sword and Anvil?  I was thinking about having Kerr have his ancestral bow and breastplate enchanted, and I'm sure Kellan would like to have the same sort of thing.  But I don't want to have the party just have to sit around and wait for the enchantment process either.

Re: Possible Restart

Could go with the idea that the weapons have gained an inclination towards magic after their recent use.  I mean, Kellan has used his polaxe to slay demons and monsters with special damage reduction; killing inherently magical beings with a mundane weapon is bound to alter the weapon, right?  And Kerr is constantly channeling divine power through his bow when he uses it to Smite.

It's nothing found in the rules as written, so far as I know.  But I've always liked the idea of a weapon gaining power as it is used to perform great deeds.  The weapon gains it's own history and legend; and legendary weapons are usually powerful, right?

Instead of having them go through the lengthy enchantment process to make them stronger, these inclinations gained through extraordinary use are recognized by an enchanter.  This allows them to construct the magic already present into a usable form much more quickly than starting the enchantment process from scratch.

It's a method I've used before to circumvent players immediately discarding a family heirloom weapon in favor of the first +1 sword they come across.  Basically an excuse to speed up the enchantment process in certain situations.

Consider the level of generosity that Aldern displayed before.  This was someone who really wanted to be well thought of.  Someone like that would never propose splitting two meals seven ways with guests.  That's absurd even with a normal host, let alone someone like Aldern.  Not when the alternative of inviting us out to an inn or other venue in Magnimar exists.

Even if we did not know this about about Aldern and Iesha, that alone would have given this away.

Book 2, Chapter #2:  To the Manor Borne Msg 558:
"They abducted my Iesha.  Told me the only way I'd ever see her again is if I did their bidding.  They made me eat some of that," he pointed to the fungus on the wall, "and my transformation began.  Soon after they took me upstairs to see her."  His voice was ragged.  "Or what she had become."

"I am sorry for what I did."  This to Liseth.  "You reminded me so much of her, and I had already learned of her abduction.  He is fixated on you.  I don't know why.  I believe this is yours."  He pointed to a white, horse-shaped figurine on his desk.  "I don't know why he does anything he does."

I didn't detect any sort of undead.  So either there's illusion magic at play or someone masquerading as Aldern Foxglove.  Also, we should smell cooking before we've ever entered the house; unless it was part of a glamour.

+1 Spell Resistance (13) Chain hauberk would cost 9,000 + cost of a masterwork chain hauberk.

+1 Guardian weapon would cost 8,000 gp + the cost of a masterwork weapon.

Either one sounds good for Kellan (he's certainly been targeted by enough spells), but combined that's a little above your current limit (16k gp).  Plus you'll need to factor in the items you already have.

Re: Possible Restart

I've been considering allowing characters to have backup magic weapons that cost 1/2 of normal.  So for Kellan that would be a ranged weapon, for Kerr it would be a melee weapon, etc.  Pisca could probably choose.

The backup weapon couldn't cost any more than the gold you have already spent on your main weapon.  This lets combat characters have a little flexibility without necessarily costing them an arm and a leg.  And I'm not certain it would necessarily be worth it to get more than a token magic weapon for a backup in any event.

What do you all think about that idea?

Re: Possible Restart

Pisca has several ways of channeling magic through a mundane weapon now.  That's the reason she does not possess even one magic weapon to begin with.  Her weapons are currently only Masterwork at best.  Arcane Strike, which requires a Swift Action.  (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/...rcane-strike-combat/)  And Archaeologist's Luck. (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classe...types/archaeologist/)

For Pisca any magic weapon would be ... somewhat superfluous.  Not entirely.  There's advantage to having a reliable, always-on magic weapon.  But that's the reason that Pisca does not currently even have magic on a primary weapon, let alone a backup.

Strikes me that the situations are somewhat similar in the case of both Cato and Liseth.  The magic weapon is just not that important.

I'm back!  Awesome trip; my professor is crazy and eccentric and Australian.  We found ammonites and permineralized wood and leaf imprints and fish scales.  Also it snowed on our campsite.

So many misadventures too, but it's so much to try and share here; I don't want to blow up the OOC.

Kellan:
Does a...Spell Resistant Chain Hauberk sound reasonable?

Wouldn't that force me to make a caster level check just to cast a cure Spell on Kellan?  I actually don't have a lot of experience using Spell Resistance.

Racon:
I've been considering allowing characters to have backup magic weapons that cost 1/2 of normal.  So for Kellan that would be a ranged weapon, for Kerr it would be a melee weapon, etc.  Pisca could probably choose.

I'm not even sure what I would do with a backup melee weapon.  With Strength 7 I'm already at -2 to hit and damage.  Something like a Light Mace might be the most appropriate melee weapon for Liseth, but a +1 Light Mace would only amount to +3 to hit for d6-1 damage.  I suppose it could be useful with features like Merciful or Holy, but that's beyond the set price limitation.

Re: Possible Restart

I show Pisca having 38 Hit Points.  If she's taken 38 Hit Points that would put her at Zero, wouldn't it?  And at Zero, isn't she Disabled? https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamem...isabled-0-Hit-Points-

quote:
Disabled (0 Hit Points)
When your current hit point total drops to exactly 0, you are disabled.

You gain the staggered condition and can only take a single move or standard action each turn (but not both, nor can you take full-round actions). You can take move actions without further injuring yourself, but if you perform any standard action (or any other strenuous action) you take 1 point of damage after completing the act. Unless your activity increased your hit points, you are now at –1 hit points and dying.

Healing that raises your hit points above 0 makes you fully functional again, just as if you’d never been reduced to 0 or fewer hit points.

You can also become disabled when recovering from dying. In this case, it’s a step toward recovery, and you can have fewer than 0 hit points (see Stable Characters and Recovery).

That is, as opposed to into Negative Hit Points and Dying.

quote:
Dying (Negative Hit Points)
If your hit point total is negative, but not equal to or greater than your Constitution score, you’re dying.

A dying character immediately falls unconscious and can take no actions.

A dying character loses 1 hit point every round. This continues until the character dies or becomes stable.

Or have I figured something incorrectly here?

They're not illusions.  We've determined that much.  Alternatives are disguise and shape changing.  If we're talking disguise, then we have CHA in play.  But, I'm wondering whether the CHA is placed where it can compete with us.  That is to say, in diplomacy.

Liseth is the diplomacy queen.  If she can convince the city guard, we may have an ally that could tip the balance in this.  Either way, it may be an interesting competition, trying to sway the guard to one side or the other through reason and/or charm.

Re: Possible Restart

From reading various Google links I get the impression that most folks want to use Diplomacy to convince the people that they are currently fighting to stop.  That, of course, is not what we have here.  But, my impression is that the difference is only one of Attitude.  That is to say, if you're fighting someone, their attitude is likely to be Hostile.  In this case, it may be Indifferent.

As the thread below suggests, to rush a diplomacy attempt involves penalties.  Unfortunately, Paizo is not clear about what those penalties are.  The thread suggests -20 as a holdover from 3.5, but I think that in Pathfinder that's left pretty much up to a GM decision.

Re: Possible Restart

It seems like this falls under "Making a Request" which can be accomplished in 1 round, especially for a relatively simple request versus the "Influence Attitude" which takes 1 minute.

Given that, you can determine the DC, but the guard is probably indifferent or unfriendly, which is a base DC of 15 or 20, then it might even fall under "Give Aid that could result in punishment" because if he lets a bunch of strangers murder a lord, I could see him getting punished.  So that pushes the DC to 30-35 depending on his initial attitude.

Re: Possible Restart

This is a little different than making a request, though.  Liseth actually needs to convince the guardsman that she's on the right side; he's not going to help her if he thinks she's on the wrong side, and right now he's (rightfully) highly skeptical.

So what I've done is create a chart of the guard's attitudes and reactions:

BELIEVER - Actively assists in combat

SEMI-CONVINCED - Will defend attacked party members

NEUTRAL - will defend himself.

SKEPTIC - will attack party members who attack the Foxgloves.

ENEMY - Actively assists the Foxgloves

Right now he is at "skeptic."  Where he ends up depends on how Liseth does on her diplomacy roll.  The DCs are for my eyes only.  :)  Roll away, Liseth!

Liseth, can you perform some sort of burst healing?  That would allow you enough spare time to converse a bit with the guard while healing at the same time.

As for Pisca, she's going to heal herself.  The spell will put her one point into negative after the completion of the act, but the spell itself will bring Pisca up into positive hit point territory.

quote:
Disabled
A character with 0 hit points, or one who has negative hit points but has become stable and conscious, is disabled. A disabled character may take a single move action or standard action each round (but not both, nor can he take full-round actions, but he can still take swift, immediate, and free actions). He moves at half speed. Taking move actions doesn’t risk further injury, but performing any standard action (or any other action the GM deems strenuous, including some free actions such as casting a Quicken Spell spell) deals 1 point of damage after the completion of the act. Unless the action increased the disabled character’s hit points, he is now in negative hit points and dying.

Though, I think we're pretty much dealing with a Roleplaying situation as things stand right now.  We should be able to keep things rolling for a bit with that.

From what I can see we have two issues to deal with here.

1) Do we kill or not?  And how does each of our characters deal with the decision either way.
2) How do we dispose of the bodies?  Or do we even bother?  And why do we choose a particular way.

Yeah, I was thinking of something to counter Pisca's argument.  While I think Cato is perfectly content to kill intelligent creatures that oppose his goals and threaten those things he holds dear, killing enemies and then disposing of their bodies seems like a step too far.  Though that still leaves the interesting question of what exactly to do.

Pisca is something of a trickster.  In her mind it's better to leave the people behind the critters wondering what happened, than to leave open evidence that we've disposed of them and that we are now here in Magnimar.

I'll admit, though, that I have no reasonably viable way to get rid of the bodies in what appears to be the limited time we have.  Both of Pisca's suggestions, though fantastically interesting, most obviously, involve conduits that we have no ready access to.

I've heard it's easier for beginners, and some people have felt that they included a lot of house rules they were already using, like feat tax stuff or background skills.

That's my inclination as well.  Not that it's bad to drum up funds, but it feels like the same deal as college textbooks.  Change just a little bit and then charge full price for the new edition.

I'd not heard peep one about 2E.  TTYTT, I'm just getting my feet wet with D&D 5E.  From what I've seen so far, I'm liking it.  It doesn't have the complexity of Pathfinder, and that's both good and bad.  Complexity adds richness.  But, to throw in a Pisca-ism, complexity is complex.

What have you heard about 2E?

I'm in a game that offers background skills.  It's nice to be able to devote some skill points to arts or performance even if it doesn't back up your class.  Or to devote skill points to crafts that don't have anything to do with combat.  Craft[Cooking], for example.

Happy New Year!

What have I heard?

Overall, the game is much simpler to play and understand.  But they still have a lot of character options, but they expanded the feat system a lot rather than making each class a special snowflake with a lot of class specific rules.  Maybe they repurposed my Flavor Feat idea!  ;D

In combat, they did away with Standard, Move, Free, etc actions.  Now each turn every character has 3 Actions.  Different activities take different number of Actions.  Most things take 1.  Casting a Spell takes 2.  Moving takes 1.  You can attack 3 times from 1st level now, if you don't do anything else.  It's just that every attack after the 1st gets a -5 cumulative penalty.  You score a critical hit if you beat the target AC by 10 or more, and no more rolling to confirm.

There are now 3 power sources for Magic:  Arcane, Divine, Primal, and Occult.  Wizards are Arcane.  Clerics are Divine.  Druids are Primal.  Bards are Occult.  Sorcerers pick a source based on where they get their powers.  So, you could have a Sorcerer that cast Divine Spells.

There isn't a specific list of spells for each class.  Each class just falls into one of the boxes for a source.  There is some overlap.  A healing spell might be both Divine and Primal, for example.  It's a way to categorize the spells without having 15 different lists or 3 different spells that do basically the same thing.  The mechanics of spellcaster vary from class to class, depending on whether you are a prepared or spontaneous caster.

So a lot less complexity.  I think there's only 40 pages of rules in the new book; everything else is class descriptions, creating a Character, spell List, skills, feats, game master section, equipment, treasure and that kind of stuff.

Sounds a lot different to me!

That does sound very different.  To the point that I can't imagine how it plays.  I like taking out the Critical Threat roll.  I wonder if the AC+10 for a crit rule would make the game more deadly or less?  Certainly would make better armor more valuable.

Do you know if they took out the Touch AC concept like they did in D&D 5E?

Das Korvut was a lot of fun to write, and I think it's where we really established the relationship between Kellan and Alergast.  And Kellan's rolling?  Perfection.

I also greatly enjoyed the meeting with Vorvashali Voon

The return to Sandpoint, with Pisca's reaction to Shalelu's "jackanapes" and then Quint and Santo's (love those guys!) dramatic recap of the Battle for Sandpoint and Alergast's Charge.

Heh, yeah. Racon is something of a perfectionist.

While I'm sure we would all love to continue this story, we did set the bar pretty high I think, and resuming before everything (and everyone) was "ready" would just do it an injustice.

Yeah, we'd all need to be able to commit some time to it.  If I was to restart it I'd probably ask everyone to designate a week a couple of months later where they could commit to being available to posting for most of the day.  I think one of the things that really kicked us off well at the beginning was the high volume of posting we were able to do right at the beginning.  I think we'd need that again to "prime the pumps," as it were.  And the couple of months would give everyone time to reread things and get a sense of their character and where we were.

But as I said before I'd also need to have enough free time to do it justice.  And I'd need a commitment from everyone that they would make it a priority.  :)

I started up my Echoes game again, with Pisca and a few other players.  Just getting things off the ground and one of the players had to bow out already.  The GM life is a life of frustration.  And fun.  Funstration.

I woke up with this idea this morning ...

I know:  Uh oh.  Right?

What if we took the story up a few years later?  Maybe 10 years.  I remember a bit - I think it was in one of the OoC threads - where we were talking about Liseth and Kerr as an old married couple.  I found the idea intriguing.  How would the characters change in ten years?

Then, rumblings of the case that they had left ten years ago begin to resurface.  And once again they come together to face the peril they walked away from at that time.

That's an intriguing idea.  I don't know how well that would work with the adventure path though.  I have specifically avoided reading any spoilers about Rise of the Runelords the published path (it's killing me!) but just from piecing together events in our game it looks like things are meant to proceed along a timeline.  Everything is so sudden and needs attention right away, or EVIL WINS.  Mua ha haa!

Besides, 10 years?  I don't know whether happily married Liseth with 2 beautiful babies could find the time to save the world!

Yeah.  I hear you there.  There would have to have been some plot convention that put the evil plans on hold for ten years too.  Until now .. bum bum buuuum.

And part of the dramatic tension would be these normal lives that everyone would have waiting for them.  More at stake.

Just an idea.

Liseth Thoradin:
Now I have to wonder exactly what Pisca's 'Normal Life' entails.

That was a question I had too, Liseth.  The biggest problem for me would be addressing the longer lifespan of gnomes.  I've tried to address that a bit with Pisca by asking another question: How does 50 years of experience NOT equate to 50 years of human maturity?  And, after reading the Pathfinder description of gnomes for the forty hundredth time, I decided that a gnome matures when he or she discovers his or her first obsession.  Until that time, they are energy without direction.

One avenue that I'd considered was having Pisca attempt her library in Sandpoint.  At this point, she would discover that setting something up is not as simple as making something happen.  And running a library is not as simple as collecting books.  There's community outreach and building.  There's fundraising.  There's human resource management - both paid staff and volunteer.  There is ... Responsibility.  (With a capital Response.)  This changes her.  Caring for Lunk changes her.  How?  I'm not sure right now.  I'd have to play it out and see what she becomes.

BTW, this might be a good way to handle this Priming concept.  Rather than jumping right into the story where we left off.  If I recall correctly, there were some sticky decisions to be made, which could bog things down.  Free creation of ... THINGS.  That is to say, anything.  Doesn't have to be this ten year jump thing, but anything that brings us together to collaboratively flesh out our characters could provide a good venue for daily - if not multiple times daily - posting.

Re: Happy New Year!

I do think there are some elements that could help us get off on the right foot again, should we commit to a restart, which is still not certain by the sound of things. This is mostly just throwing stuff at the wall to encourage us.

- A complete re-read, just to sort of absorb is all again.

- A separate short summary of the game so far, broken down by Chapter. (Liseth might be our go to for this given she just read it all again). We can even put recognizable "side quests" here like Cato's relationship with the Hell Knights.

- The creation of a character and location index for reference (This might be useful for Racon in the long run as well to help keep everything straight. Rather than rifling through the entire story, we can at least remember their name, basic appearance and role at a glance.)

- Some time to find the character "voices" again for consistency, sans combat, without any big decisions. Something like a communal version of the wildly successful "intro" threads at the beginning of the game.

- Lot's of team encouragement. I seem to recall that Racon was big on positive reinforcement and asking people to bring up aspects of writing or character development we enjoyed. Just like a fitness regime, having other people involved to keep up motivation could go a long way.

If we can commit to even a solid week of "mass" posting, I think we could have a real chance at regaining momentum. That is of course is Racon is in a good place in his life to resume the mantel (and the burden of commitment). If he is not, we should continue to hold off I think.

One of the reasons I originally put all of my RPoL games on hold was that my (then) new job blocked access to RPoL at work.  However, now I'm teleworking at least half the time, which means I can post at home, and posting at night is easier the older my kids get.

*Edit: Though in some ways, this was the game I was most involved with.  I think I changed jobs back in the fall of 2017, but the last post here was June 2018.  This game going on hold was the reason I stopped checking RPoL often and bowed out of my other games.

Yeah, I (mostly) enjoy spending time with the kids, but *most* of that time is usually having fun, especially on the weekends.  Going to museums, going to parks, going to a farm that does u-pick and has a big play area for the kids.  But now basically being stuck in the house with everyone 24-7 makes it a little different.  I suppose the one break my wife and I get is our exercise: I did a 13 mile run yesterday, which got me out of the house and alone in my thoughts for 3 hours, which felt good.

It's funny, because I've even seen some homeschooling parents offering consolations on Facebook.  Basically saying this is hard on them, too, since they're usually scheduling things like museum tours and suck like for their kids, and now all that is cancelled.

In reply to Pisca Neep Freemish (msg # 443):

That’s incredibly variable from kid to kid. I think one of the benefits of having multiple children (maybe especially twins) is that they’re able to entertain themselves, especially as they get older. But I have friends who put off having a second child for a long time because their first was so demanding. Even had one tell me his six year old was more work than his infant twins because, like you said, literally everything, even watching TV, had to involve a parent.

I think part of what we do is to kind of leave our kids be (for a reasonable period of time) if they’re entertaining themselves and not causing trouble. If we have to step in, what we make them do might not be as much fun as what they would choose to do themselves. But there’s a certain amount of direct contact each one also needs, and you can tell if they’re getting enough attention.

So, I've been thinking about this a bit more.  I think I'd probably only worry about levels 1-5 starting out, and I'd want something that had a pretty good share of (at least possible) RP versus combat, so that would rule out a dungeon-crawl.

Ideas for adventures:

Official WOTC Adventures:

Lost Mines of Phandelver (then leading into something else, like Red Hand of Doom?)
Curse of Strahd

Pathfinder AP:
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Carrion Crown
Strange Aeons

Any of those sound interesting?  I'm just looking at online reviews to figure out what APs sound like they might be good for online play.  I've played/run parts of some of those: LMoP, Carrion Crown and Strange Aeons.

Seriously, though, it's not the material that makes the game.  It's the people and the writing and the imagination that they bring.  That's what makes a story.  Or so I've found.

But let me grasp for some straws and see what comes up in the handsful.  I've always liked a Victorian setting.  Or cowboys.  Pirates can also be fun.

Warning.  I've played a lot of Crimson Throne.  I've also played the first part of Carrion Crown ... possibly five times.  That AP seems to be cursed in that the games always seem to fall apart.  One observation about my many play-throughs of Carrion Crown, though, is that the various GM's always seemed alter things to make each game reasonably unique.  In a couple of cases, very pleasantly surprising.

Re: Happy New Year!

Well this is a welcome surprise!

Dark and mysterious indeed.

I'll admit that Curse of the Crimson Throne has been on my list. Korvosa seems like a heady setting that you could go really deep with.

Likewise Carrion Crown with Ustalav could make for a darker, muddier sort of campaign.

I will also suggest Skull and Shackles as an option for this group in particular. With all the great interaction, dedication to NPCs and love of personal side quests a high seas adventure with the parties very own ship could be a lot of fun.

In reply to Pisca Neep Freemish (msg # 460):

I've played a few 3.5/PF adventurers in my in-person game, and I haven't found it too hard.  I ran my players through Foxglove Manor (up-leveled, actually, because they were level 11) and did a modified Red Hand of Doom, substituting a different dungeon in for the Ghost Lord's tomb.  I also ran the last book of Kingmaker, replacing the nymph with Titania.

More or less, I'm not really using Pathfinder or 3.5 monsters.  I'm more using the APs to give me an idea of villains and motivations, and then building encounters using 5E rules (but having the battle maps is a big plus.)  It's seemed to work well.  Maybe it would be more fair to say I'm "inspired" by the APs rather than running an AP.

Yeah, Skull & Shackles could work well, too.  I omitted that because I had a campaign that failed, though it was 1-on-1 and did make it partway through Book 2, which as far as RPoL games go, might not actually be that much of a failure.

Re: Happy New Year!

Ok, after thinking about this more, I think I want to go with Strange Aeons.  Lovecraftian-inspired horror plus D&D is like chocolate and peanut butter!

I think running this in 5E will be easier than running it in Pathfinder - I've found 5E to be a little more rule-light than PF, but with interpretations of the class abilities, can still be fairly versatile in terms of representing different character concepts.

Look at the Strange Aeons Player's Guide, and think about the character concepts you might want to play.  When everyone has a character name in mind, I can start the new game and we can move the discussion there.  Keep in mind that you'll all be starting in a fugue state, with most of your memories wiped clean by the same misfortune that has destroyed Briarstone Asylum.  I think the character background will work best if you have some broad concepts of what your character was before they lost their memories, and then we can work on filling in the details during the course of play as your PCs recover their memories.

Racon, Hand of Fate, any interest in joining?

Strange Aeons sounds great. I've read just about all of Lovecrafts works over the years, and it will be a fun ride I am sure.

I don't own a single page of 5e stuff however. I'm not opposed to learning a "new" system persay, but it will definitely slow me down.

I was also not a fan of 4th personally, just far too simple and shallow for my taste, but I have not looked at 5e at all.

Maybe they have listened to the community and made some improvements.

Re: Happy New Year!

5E is definitely a departure from 4E, probably closer to 2E/3E.  Really, I think it does a good job of grabbing the best features of all the version of D&D and making a game that's relatively fast and easy to play.  A lot of the basic rules are available for free online via a SRD at sites like https://www.5esrd.com/ or https://5e.d20srd.org/.  You can create a character using the basic rules at https://www.dndbeyond.com/.  If you make an account, I could actually share my account with you, because I've paid for an upgrade and can share my purchased materials with you all for character creation (like the complete PHB and Xanatar's Guide to Everything, which is basically a splatbook.)

5E is much lighter in character options than something like Pathfinder or 3/3.5.  You've got your basic classes, like Fighter, Barbarian, Cleric, Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Bard, etc.  Each class has an archetype that it can choose from at 3rd level (in most cases, though a few classes, like Druid and Cleric choose earlier.). These archetypes are the primary choice you make, and they've added some, but basically there's a half-dozen choices for each class, which aren't really expanding as the game expands.  Most of what Wizards has published is setting/adventure guides.  Feats aren't really a big component of the character building process anymore; you can forgo an ability score increase to instead choose a feat, but it's not as extensive as it was in 3.5/PF.

For instance, take the Fighter.  The basic archetype for the Fighter is the Champion, which expands your crit range, gives you an additional bonus on some checks like jumping, etc.  In the complete PHB, there's additional archetypes like Battle Master and Eldritch Knight.  The Battlemaster gains "maneuvers" they can learn, like Trip Attack or Parry that expand their combat options.  The Eldritch Knight gives the Fighter some spellcasting ability they can combine with their martial attacks.

D&D Beyond also posted a bunch of New Player’s Guides. Some of them seem aimed at using D&D Beyond
specifically, but others are more about making a character for the first time.  I don’t know if it matters, but D&D isn’t run by Wizards, but they’re a pretty close digital partner and seem to work closely with WotC.

I never realized just how many of the fantasy races feel inappropriate for a horror-style setting.  Well, that's probably just because horror stories usually don't include a menagerie of different races.

That's an interesting question.  How exactly do you define the horror genre?  Especially cosmic horror?  I'd argue just having vampires and werewolves isn't necessarily horror, depending on how its portrayed.  I read a few of the Anita Blake novels and most of the Sookie Stackhouse novels.  I don't think those are horror.  More supernatural-tinged investigation/romance.

Cosmic horror especially is about the horror of humans confronting the greater unknown, which might explain why so little of it features other races.  Because it could dull the impact of man confronting the unknown if elves, dwarves, etc all face it too.  Though, from a scientific point of view, if humans and elves can interbreed to produce fertile offspring, they're not really different species per se, right?  And dwarves aren't that much further away, because at least in some settings, human/dwarf hybrids are Muls, sterile like their namesake, but it implies a rather close connection between the two races.  Gnomes, being of fey ancestry, could be different.

Yeah.  Those kind of books don't classify well as horror to me either.  Closer to fantasy adventure.  Though there are sections that attempt to evoke the fear associated with horror, those are mainly there to augment the Adventure side of things.

On a somewhat related note, ever read any Robert E Howard?  Creator of Conan the Barbarian?  As I understand, he was a contemporary of Lovecraft's,and they used to exchange correspondence.  You can see it especially in some of Howard's earlier Conan stories.

Oh!  I also went to PAX Unplugged in 2018 and 2019, and sat in one the some panels that discussed this same thing.  (And I got hooked on miniature painting, which is fun for my in-person settings but not getting a lot of use right now.)

Considering this, would it be better of we limited our selections for race?  The inter-racial dynamic is really a tertiary thing considering the style of adventure.

The more I think about it, the less small races like gnomes and halflings feel appropriate for playing in a horror setting.

These are fleshed out as far as I wish them to be.  Any more work would focus on only one of them, and be aimed at fitting into the campaign setting.

What do you think?  Any particular choice?  They're designed to plug into roles in the group.  Shiu Lin would be a healer - or backup healer.  Ezra would be the primary caster.  Sir Terrence would be a line fighter.  They're each also designed to have a dark side.  The better to confront that dark side when memory returns, and come out the better for it.

Sir Terrence, BTW, is very loosely based on Sir Richard Francis Burton.

Less well know is that fact that he is the scourge of the local populace on three continents.  A side effect of his ambition is ruthlessness, and he's left a wake of native bodies in the pursuit of his goals.  It is even rumored that he has arranged for the death of a colleague - a white man - who held objections to his methods.  Nothing, however, could be proven.

Reading through the Adventure Path player's guide and the PHB, I've been struck by the concept of a charismatic Lore College Bard who simply has too much curiosity for his own good.  After all, how could simply knowing something be a bad thing?  What could *possibly* go wrong?  And then he ends up in an asylum . . . He would be a support class, party face, and all-around knower of things.

You are SUCH a bard!

I've been looking at being a Rogue of the inquisitive specialty.  A detective skilled at sleuthing, snooping, sneaking, stealing, stabbing, shooting...I already designed this character on Beyond.  Considering Elf for the race.

Less the party face and more the party expert.  Don't know how much overlap that would have with a Lore Bard.  I'm still entertaining the idea of a more combat-focused character like a Ranger or Fighter though.  Maybe even a Cleric, but a lot more militant than Liseth ever was.

Oh! Grigor!

Grigor is a big, somewhat portly middle aged native of Ustalav. With wavy brown hair and a dense beard down to his chest, he is thick limbed and a little world weary.

Although he does not know it, he was a well regarded family man back in his home village, where he had often been called up by neighbors to help with the various troubles that plauge the people of that land. He is drawing from Cossack, Streltsy and other Slavic concepts that parts of Ustalav seems to be inspired by.

Mechanically he is a Barbarian (A Lawful Good Barbarian! That's a first) with the Folk Hero background. With Bardiche in hand, he is hopefully planning on carving a swath back to his family. Potatoes and grain alcohol may or may not figure prominently in his off time.

There could very well be some stomping involved.

I also just noticed that Liseth has 42 hp! It's funny given she is so petite and frail. I have seen level 1 Fighters in other games with a fraction of that. I guess we did make it pretty far in Runelords all things considered.

Yeah, HP are a wierd extrapolation in games.  Sure you can imagine a high HP fighter taking hits on his armor and soldiering through, but a little priestess in a robe?  I try not to think about it too much.

In reply to Pisca Neep Freemish (msg # 515):

One of the first few employees at TSR, Tim Kask, has a YouTube series called "Curmudgeon in the Cellar" where he talks about a bunch of D&D related stuff.  One of his hot button issues is apparently the treatment of HPs: as he sees them (and according to him, how EGG and others saw it) is not all the ability to take physical damage, but rather the ability to avoid damage in the first place.  (Otherwise, a 5th level fighter who had taken and recovered from near-mortal injuries several times would be a mass of scar tissue and be unable to move.)

Which makes a kind of intuitive sense, for most situations, though it gets hard to narrate effectively and make sure you're telegraphing what's actually a hit and what's an outright miss.  (Maybe you could use descriptions like "they just narrowly avoid the hit" and "your attack misses them entirely" to convey a hit vs a miss?)

There was one RPG, though I can't remember which one, that had two pools of "HP".  Or maybe it was a variant rule for 3.5?  In any case, you had a pool of actual HP equal to your Con, or something similar, and a much larger pool that worked like regular HP.  Some things, like a critical hit would affect your smaller pool, but in other cases your larger pool would be depleted first.

Bards look to be surprisingly-proficient casters in 5E.  There's no difference in the spell progression tables between Bards and Wizards, although I'm sure they have access to different types of spells.

I'm thinking of having Rikard be a younger son of one of the county counts of Ustalav.  Since his very youngest days he's been fascinated by the history of his homeland, convinced that the area is cursed, and a firm believer that arcane and occult knowledge is the key to dispelling that curse and returning the country to its former glory.

He's traveled widely, studied at various colleges, and has a good relationship with his elder brother, who uses Rikard's knowledge for his own ends.  Their father treats Rikard with benevolent neglect; he views Rikard's studies as reflecting well upon the family and if his younger son is successful in ridding Ustalav of its curse?  Well, that could only redound to the benefit of his family.

Yeah, in the (formerly in-person, now real-time game on Roll20) we have a bard/rogue, a sorcerer/rogue, a wizard/warlock, a cleric/warlock, and a fighter.  The bard stands up well in comparison to the other casters, but yes, the casting list is a little different.  I think it's mostly illusion, healing, fear/charm effects.  Not as much evocation blasting magic.  However, Magical Secrets lets you eventually choose other spells to add to your list, and Lore bards get even more.  The bard in my game has Eldritch Blast, Toll the Dead, Healing Spirits, Counterspell, Contingency, and Divine Word for instance.  (Though they're level 16, so that's an extreme example.)

I've always found that the Rogue/Investigator take a lot of work.  You're doing all the nit picky detailed things.  I tend to be fairly suited for it.  But it can get tiresome.  Eldritch Knight sounds fun.  Lots of BOOM.

Hmm, Racon's spoony Bard is focused in Investigation already; so he's got those little details covered.  Has NO wisdom skills though.  Or tools...hmmm.  Yeah, I already stole a glance at your sheet.  Like a sneaky voyeur!

I'm torn, need to mill it around a bit and see what you guys have to say about it.  They are two drastically different play styles after all!  The rogue would be a Wood Elf, I already know that much.  The Elritch Knight...not so sure.  Maybe Human or Half-Elf.  For some reason the other races (Dwarf, Gnome, etc) feel less appropriate to the AP.

A little googling found this:

On Character Sheet where it shows proficiencies and languages at the bottom of the box is a gear icon: click this. It opens a sidebar, at top of sidebar is "add new proficiencies" in the drop down choose languages. It creates a custom language called Custom Language, you can rename it and if wanted type in the source. Your character now knows this custom language.

I tested it out and it seems to work.

I just know everyone's account name because you were all players in the game I GMed before; I don't think there's a way to see it if you aren't the player's GM.  The easiest way to invite everyone is just to link us the game and we can all send you an RTJ.  Then you add us from there.

Re: Happy New Year!

Not bad, ttytt.  When the pandemic first hit we had to cancel a musical that was a week or two from going on stage.  That was hard.  Then we spent a year dark.  We had board meetings via Zoom.

But, we tried a couple of creative things to stay in touch with the community.  2020 we came up with the idea to put on some reader's theater events using old radio show scripts.  No royalties.  Very low cost.  We built the stage in our parking lot.  We got an okay from the county board of health.  And we offered this for free.  Several weekends.  Each weekend a different set of shows.  Bring your own chairs.  A summer event.

Summer of 2021 we expanded the idea by opening things up to any kind of royalty free works our pool of directors wanted to explore.  And we were able to move things inside.  This was pre-Delta.

Now, for our 2021-2022 season we've been able to put up two regular season shows with a third just beginning production.  The second show got hit with the Omicron wave, and they had a rocky time of things rehearsing around the quarantine periods of some of their cast, but they put the show up, and it's relatively well attended.

Audiences are not what they were pre-pandemic.  We're extremely happy if we get a half house of roughly 100 people.  Understandable.  And, we've made a significant change in going from assigned seating to festival seating.  So, if a patron isn't comfortable sitting next to another patron - who will not, for example, wear their mask properly - then they can now move.

Re: Happy New Year!

I hope she's okay.

I'm glad to hear your theater company seems to be pulling through, Pisca.  I was a bit worried that the virus might herald the end of live theater as we knew it.  If only because so many companies were really up against it.

Re: Happy New Year!

I feel so extremely awkward after having vanished from RPoL for so long.  But I am okay; better than I was for sure, thank you everyone.  It's nice to come back and see that I was missed.

Sorry that you were concerned though.

Liseth!!!  Hey.  Long time.  You are most decidedly missed.  Do not doubt that.

Re: Happy New Year!

I don't think a group of people can spend as much time together as we did here and not feel close to each other.  Thanks Pisca, it's good to hear from you too.

I'm doing better than I've been Kellan.  My dog died last year but now I have a new 75 pound puppy.  Life continues.

Re: Happy New Year!

It's so good to see you back, Liseth!  And I'm glad you made it through that rough patch.

I have to say that I come back every so often and read through parts of our adventure together. But I have to be careful when I do because WHENEVER it happens I always look up and it's been HOURS.  It was so great to have created this with you guys--it makes me happy to read.  :)

Re: Happy New Year!

Also my son is graduating from high school and heading off to major in . . . musical theater!  So you'll have some company in that space, Pisca.

He also wrote and composed a musical that his high school produced, which is pretty awesome.  :)

He was . . . 8 when we started this thing.  Crazy to think that the 10-year anniversary of RotR is coming up here in a couple of months.

Re: Happy New Year!

That's incredible.  Great to hear from everyone.  Your birthdays come up on my calendar, and I think of you guys every year.

Tell your son to break one, Racon.  There's nothing like doing what you love for a living.
