Re: Bandits of Blackford
Mising again the fighter dcided to move after his initial attack.  Delmedus's attacks have been been good thus far but not good enough for the very agile ogre.  The beast may think of this agility as a blessing but the fighter has studied the giants movements, they are well honed from many years of fighting, but predictable.  The fighter makes his plan to get past the giant just as the creature starts its attack.

Feinting an attack to the left, Block moves to the right and leaving his weak side open.  The fighter takes two steps at a time, bouncing off of the side rails, and getting past the giant as it is not quick enough with its left movements.  It should be smart enough not to turn around not to chase me as Rita closes the distance.  If it does it does not have enough room to attack us both at once. Delmedus does not even bother to look if the creature reacts to his evasive footwork and he continues taking the stairs two at a time to reach Vaclav.

14:33, Today: Secret Roll: Delmedus rolled 6 using 1d8 with rolls of 6.  evasive footwork superiority die.

Re: Bandits of Blackford
Block swings clumbisly at Delmedus as he twists and ducks through Block's  space on the stair. The bandit also takes a swing at Delmedus back but Delmedus is too shifty and experienced and had anticipated the jab of the longsword.

Vaclav seeing Delmedus dip and dodge past the ogre knows he is persued and shouts in dispair and rage. With a flick of his wrist he uses a wand which sends black hot energy at the fighter, but the fighter's erratic movements save him again. "Damn you, you ineffectual oaf!" He shouts at Block.

The bandit tries to use his miss while attacking Delmedus to surprise Makal with another sharp swing, but he is off balance and the blade is easily deflected.

Delmedus dodges Vaclav's wand blow and does not know what to think.  Origially he though he was a fighter but surely he is some sort of mage or... That does not matter he must be stopped. Raising his sword to give a vicious swing he cuts down with all his might just to have the wood in the wall and ceiling be sliced, the blade never coming close to Vaclav.

Ruby loops around the darkness to get a good view of Block, then shouts "Wyrzucać!"

Move, avoiding OA. Command Block to "drop" -- DC13 WIS save or he drops whatever he's holding as his entire turn.

Re: Bandits of Blackford
Conrad advances abroptly upon Block and Block's attention being on Delnmedus Conrad has a devilish opening. Donnel follows suit and red lines and deep bruises appear on the giant. He grunts and moans with each hit.

Block seems to focus in on Conrad and he steps oddly into a stance. Then he swings but his wounds are starting to put him into shock and he misses clumbsily.

Makal finishes off the last remaining Bandit who's fear was the last thing he knew in this world.

The darkness drops all around. Delmedus faces Vaclav but as his eyes meet Vacalv's with a waive of his hand it is as if Delmedus is looking at Vaclav through a choppy pool of water. Vaclav's body waivers and shifts. Then Vaclav raises his wand again, but the results are a futile as before.

Ruby, annoyed, repeats her command to Block, to open the ogre up to her allies' attacks.

Command Block to "drop" -- DC13 WIS save or he drops whatever he's holding as his entire turn.

Delm frowns at the tricks the mage is playing "Your little tricks end now.  The town and the land belong to the people not to you Vaclav.  Your master will fall as you are about to."  stepping forward and ignoring the blurred effects the fighter lunges the tip of the blade straight forward.

Re: Bandits of Blackford
The great ogre falls and tumbles to the base of the stairs. Delmedus blade carves a gash into Vaclav's leg in spite of the magical enchantments meant to prevent just that.

Vaclav's eyes widen as he looks past Delmedus to see Block fall. As Conrad and Makal all climb past the giant to fave Vaclav, he falls to his knees and begs for his life.

"Stop! Please stop!" The blurring effect drops and Vaclav grabs his bleeding leg. "Have mercy." He quickly looks from face to face. "I was compelled by the my dragon lord. She made me do it.I could not resist her. Please have mercy."

The gong of the bell lessens as the bell's momentum fades.

Re: Bandits of Blackford
Delmedus holds the point of his sword to Vaclav's throat "You move, you die." taking a deep breath and wanting to push the blade to the wall severing the windpipe, the once forester knows to let the town decide "Makel, Conrad.  Please join me up here and bring some rope.  Make sure the other bandits can not escape.  Donnel run to a window and see if this bell ringing called every bandit to come to his aid."

Looking back at Vaclav "You will be tried for what you have done. Makel please tie his wound and COnrad help me make sure he does not try anything."  As much as the fighter wants to kill this person he can not abide killing a grovelling person.  Taking the flat of his blade Delmedus hits Vaclav on the top of his head to knock him out but not kill him.  He may be grovelling but he is still a mage.

Re: Bandits of Blackford
While Conrad and Delmedus tie up Vaclav, Donnel looks out a window. Donnel finds he can't see how many people are surrounding the building due to the hundreds of torch lights being held up as people flood in toward the lodge.

An abrupt banging occurs at the double door downstairs and loud voices shout to let them in. At the same time in a room upstairs banging also occurs and a woman's voice calls to let her out.

After tying Vaclav up, Conrad said, "shouldn't we jus' kill th' blighte'?  He ain't got nothin' new t' tell o' give us fo' his life, an' he's jus' gonna try t' stab us in the back."

While Del guarded their captive, Conrad opened the door that the woman's voice came from.

Delm shruggs at Conrad "What do you think is going to happen when we turn him over to Mother Redcap.  The people need to decide what to do with him and they need closure to rebuild.  Sounds like we are getting more visitors soon, from downstairs and upstairs."  Keeping his sword drawn he tries to make out if it is bandit voices downstairs or the townsfolk.

Re: Bandits of Blackford
From behind the locked door is a smallish elf woman. She is disheveled and initially meek. However, it comes clear to her almost immediately as she takes in the scene that Conrad and team are not her captor. Then her pride and inner strength regain.

"Thank you for rescuing me. I am Sonina. Have you freed this town?"

Before anyone can answer her the sea of torch lights outside parts and the double doors below burst open. In walks Mother redcap. She is armed and followed by towns folk with bows, swords, pitchforks, and the like.

"Is he still alive?" She asks in an urgent and commanding tone.

Some of the villagers are bloodied and a few hobble but all seem to be fueled by the idea of freedom. When the party shows Vaclav still lives and is restrained the people immediately push by and pull him down the stairs roughly not sparing him from bangs and bumps. The take him outside into the torch lit night of the street.

Any protest or attempt to prevent the towns people from having what appears to be a trial-less and violent justice fails. They lay into him as he screams. Elderly and young alike jostle for position to inflict the sentence of death. Valcav's voice fades beneath boot and blade.

After a time of silence and reflection on the deeds Mother Redcap speaks. "We have these fine adventurers to thank for our freedom tonight. Alone they fought the Ogres, Orcs, Kobolds, and more and were that not enough, together they hatched a plan to free us of Vaclav's grasp and even left him alive for us to claim our justice."
The towns folk can not find it within themselves to cheer but they do silently bow before you as you come into the street.
"Let this day be known as Liberation Day. Yet still we are not free from the true menace. The dragon still lives and our friends dare to free us of it too."
To this the people gasp at first then they do muster the strength to cheer.

It takes a long time but each town member thanks you individually lining up to do so. Very tired they dissipate back to their homes to recover what normalcy they once knew. You are given access to the town hall as a place to rest and the people clear out the bodies for you and clean it quickly.

You are allowed to take what you want from the bandits and Vaclav before they take the bodies.

Re: Bandits of Blackford
Delmedus does not say a word when they drag Vaclav down the stairs and tear him apart.  He just watched glad that these people are willing to fight for what they believe in now and will hopefully not allow something such as this to happen again.

The large fighter smiles and shakes each person's hand and gives consoling hugs to the people that lined up to thank them.  He tells them that it is not over but it will get better, they just have to persivere a little bit more.

Not interested in any of the items he will give some of his share back to Mother Redcap to rebuild, keeping only enough to ensure they can stay in an inn if there are any towns left.  THe magical items are wonderous but will serve others in his group better than they will serve themselves.

Walking up to the elven woman he sees how much smaller their races structure is compared to him "Good Day Sonina.  I am Delmedus, the town is freed and the people's spirit rekindled.   Why was you locked in here while all others were allowed a larger cell?"
