Re: Bandits of Blackford
Donnel since you are rushing the front entrance do you want to take the other wagon or are we just going to use one flaming wagon at an entrance so they funnel out of the other entrance?  I know, the best laid plans change once the first shot is fired.

I have place Kered on the boulders to the south instructed to shoot arrows into the camp.  I will push the flaming cart to the west entrance and then join Donnel in fighting hand to hand with the bandits while Conrad and the teens give cover fire.

How does that sound?  Rick can you give us big fire on the tents to make more chaos?  Torag, what buffs do you have?

Re: Bandits of Blackford

OOC:

Since Donnel and Delm are takgin a direct approach to the camp everyoen please roll init.

Conrad give me a sneak check Dex to move silently and hide. One for you and your teen.

If Donnel is taking that wagon to the western entrance his position needs to reflect it and I need a description of how he is getting it there. Otherwise I assume Delmedus is driving the wagon there? If so please describe how you do it.

Rick and Torag please put yourselves on the map and describe how you get where you are going.

It is about to get interesting!

Although Conrad planned to surprise the bandits, he wasn't as well prepared as he'd hoped.  Conrad blended into the forest easily, but his young protege still had a lot to learn about hiding in the woods.  Conrad just hoped he'd kept the teen back far enough to not alert the guards.

13:34, Today: Conrad rolled 5 using 1d20+3. Initiative.
13:33, Today: Conrad rolled 7 using 1d20+1. Anzo Stealth Check.
13:32, Today: Conrad rolled 21 using 1d20+5. Stealth Check.

Rick and Rolland head east around the boulders and make their way to the back of the camp behind the tree line.  They then sneak up to the tree and climb it to get a good look at the camp.

"After you climb the tree, throw some oil on the tents. Then we will wait for the others to light the wagons at the front entrance. At that point, I'll send in fire afterwards. Then use your bow to keep them distracted."

It seems my last post didn't go through :(
Init  Rick rolled 10 using 1d20+2 ((8)).

Torag moves toward the boulders, trying to stick to shadows and non-direct lines of sight, but has little success in remaining hidden. His new protege Rex fares a little better, moving as stealthily as he can into the rocks.

As the frontal attack on the fortress begins, Torag takes up a position between the hand to hand combatants and the boulders, hoping to provide combat/healing support as best he can for the moment. His trusty young sidekick Rex is not far away, stationing himself in the rocks for some cover.

"Cover me with your bow and arrow," he instructs the young man. "Direct fire toward any who attack me from a range. I can guide the spirits of battle and healing from here."

Torag will hold action until the others are engaging the bandits in front of him; Rex will fire at anyone coming after Torag (first choice) or another open bandit if Torag is not directly threatened.

Re: Bandits of Blackford
The merriment and celebration of the bandits are pierced as Donnel spearheads the charge in like a wildling on a wagon of death. His intent is obvious however and the Bandits recognize that there is something bad about the Halfling on his wagon. The wagon is pulled up hastily to a stop by Donnel in the entrance. The bandits are ready for an attack as Donnel hops from the wagon to fight them.

Rick is able to sneak into his position before Donnel makes his move from beyond the rocks, where you were able to sneak up to without issue.

https://docs.google.com/drawin...Sr5MnGbQY/edit?pli=1

OOC:
I have adjusted the wagon's position to suit the situation and made the adjustment to Donnel's charge. Being generous I put the wagon into the entrance because given the approach each of you have taken. I don't see how the second entrance could be clogged up yet with Wagon 2 and not knowing who is driving it yet.

15:09, Today: GM rolled 10 using 1d20+2. Bandit initiative.
15:09, Today: GM rolled 11 using 1d20-1. Bandit 3 Sense motive Donnel's Charge (in Wagon).
15:09, Today: GM rolled 17 using 1d20-1. Bandit 2 Sense motive Donnel's Charge (in Wagon).
15:08, Today: GM rolled 16 using 1d20-1. Bandit 1 Sense motive Donnel's Charge (in Wagon).

Final Item. I have numbered the visible bandits so you can choose who to attack, etc...

In reply to Delmedus (msg # 208):

OOC: OK you can move your character back to the rock, but driving the wagon to the other entrance will have to be during battle.

The horses can move up to 60' in a turn with the wagon. Mounting and gaining control of the horses will take 1/2 action and the other 1/2 can be a 30' move.

Torag steps to one side to get a better line of sight, pulling out a javelin as he moves. He sends the small spear at one of the bandits. The javelin follows a wobbly, weak arc.

Rex follows suit targeting the same brigand and missing just as badly.

Torag moves to new location on map.
Javelin attack on the bandit adjacent to Donnel, Attack 9, surely a miss
Rex bow attack 7, also a miss

22:31, Today: Torag rolled 7 using 1d20+2. Rex Bow Attack.
22:25, Today: Torag rolled 9 using 1d20+5. Javelin attack.

Donnel takes the direct approach with his hands and quarterstaff to make a first impression on one of the bandits brave enough, or drunk enough, to emerge from his enclave.

His intern can only gape at the blood spouts.

Move: as shown, 1 square SW
Standard: Martial Arts vs Bandit 3 hits 2x for 13 dmg

FYI: Reaction: Deflect Missiles: the attack is reduced by 1d10+7. Just one reaction?

23:40, Today: Donnel rolled 16,6,17,7 using d20+5,d4+3,d20+5,d6+3. martial arts v bandit 3.

Conrad silently readied his bow and made a hand gesture to tell his teen to watch his back for bandits, but not attack any that didn't see them in the trees.

He waited for Torag, Delmedus and Donnel to get far enough away from the splash zone of the wagon, then he lit up his oiled arrow and loosed it on the wagon.

OOC:
Wait: until friendly characters are out of the danger zone from burning oil.
22:42, Today: Conrad rolled 14 using 1d20+5. Burning Arrow vs. Wagon of Oil.

(not sure what bonuses or penalties for firing a burning arrow at a big wagon)

OOC:  Changing tactics.  Gonna leave one entrance open so that we are not trapped in, would be kinda dangerous.

09:30, Today: Delmedus rolled 11 using 1d20+2. initive.

Delmedus runs to the aid of his halfling friend (even though he never needs it) and takes his great two handed sword and slashes it downward at bandit 2 (for 1 dmg)
hoping to get in as much damage before the camp becomes alert.

09:09, Today: Delmedus rolled 21 using 1d20+7. attack bandit 2.
09:09, Today: Delmedus rolled 13 using 2d6+7. damage.

If his attack drops the bandit then the fighters blade keeps slashing through the air, gaining momentum and...

09:10, Today: Delmedus rolled 22 using 1d20+2. Great Weapons Master Feat.
Critical, roll double damage.
09:15, Today: Delmedus rolled 25 using 4d6+7. critical damage.

While the fighter and the halfling monk is attacking the bandits hand to hand, Kered sees a bandit with a bow and takes aim at him (bandit 4) and lets a arrow fly but it buries itself into the ground before it even reached the wall.

09:22, Today: Delmedus rolled 11 using 1d20+2. Kered's attack.

Re: Bandits of Blackford
Torag and Rex miss their targets as the bandits nearest the wagon nimbly dance to the side of their arracks.
Delmedus Hurts Bandit 2 pretty badly his attack. Kered's arrow misses it's target.
Rick peers over the edge of the wall and sees a very large group of bandits encircling the light of a fire. In the middle is Ceres the Cruel speaking about their victories as the Dragons Warriors. Horses and you think orcs also accompany the camp. They all seem to have partaken in the wine. Some more than others. Ceres is speaking clearly and masterfully. Rick is unable to see everyone with only the fire pit in the camp for light, but knows it is a lot.

Bandit 3 Pulls out a horn and blows in it loudly.
Bandit 2 strikes at Donnel with a Rapier but just misses.
Donnel Hits Bandit 3 but barely misses Bandit 2.
Conrads arrow flies true into the hay and sticks of the wagon and the Wagon begins to light.

OOC:
09:05, Today: GM rolled 15 using 1d20+2. Bandit 2 attacks Donnel.

Rick please roll a fear check for your teen. He sees so many battle hardened bandits and may be shaken.

OOC:

@GM:  I think Donnell was only attacking Bandit #3 and hit him for 13 damage.

I first attacked Bandit #2 and hit him for 13 damage

IF the attack on bandit #2 drops him, then I get an addition attack on Bandit #1 for 25 damage.

Re: Bandits of Blackford
As Conrad saw their plan evaporating before their eyes, he stowed his bow and drew his sword and battleaxe.  Turning to his teen, "stay well behin' me and shoot 'em.  Try t' keep 'em from gettin' through the gate.  If we live, you'll be a legen' in your town."

With that, he rushed towards the gate to try and stop the impending flood of panicked bandits.

In his haste to attack the bandit, he cleaved only air with his axe.  A bit steadier after a moment, his sword struck deeply.

edit: Anzo nervously fired an arrow into the same bandit, causing the thug to loose a blaze of curses as the arrow hit a nerve.

11:49, Today: Conrad rolled 2 using 1d6. Crit Damage Bonus.
11:47, Today: Conrad rolled 25,6 using d20+5,d6+3. Shortsword vs Bandit 6 (attack, damage).
11:45, Today: Conrad rolled 12,7 using d20+5,d8+3. Battleaxe vs Bandit 7 (attack, damage).
16:47, Today: Conrad rolled 21,5 using 1d20+2,1d6+1. Anzo vs Bandit 7 (attack, damage).

Total: 13 damage
Thank goodness for the Dual Wielding feat update letting you draw both weapons :D

Re: Bandits of Blackford
Delmedus sees the number of bandits coming out of the tent and he grossly underestimated their numbers able to fight.  He sees Conrad leave his tree and head to the front gate and the fighter knows what he has to do.  Breaking away from combat Delmedus dashes to the wagon full of hay and gets hold of the reins.  Once he gained control of the horses he hit the reins and the horse lurched forward going towards the western entrance.  "Hold them off I am going to get the wagon, Conrad be ready with a flame!"

Kered was to busy watching Delmedus in combat to pay attention to what he should be shooting, and he fumbled his arrow as he was loading the bow, dropping the arrow.

ACTION:
Dash to the wagon, move 60'
Spend action surge to gain another action
Load the wagon and getting ready to move in next round.

Conrad managed to rip apart the bandit with his battleaxe, then moved closer to the gate to try and stem the flow of bandits before Delmedus could plug it (without blocking the path to the gate).

Anzo managed to hit one of the gate guards, softening up the resistance.
