Re: OOC: On the Side

Mercury Man:
Sorry, I get 42" per turn = 9.5 MPH, not very fast.

Oh, you are probably correct.
So 210' per turn (3 seconds?) is 4,200' per minute.
= 252,000' per hour
= 3.9 miles per hour.

Is that math correct?
Which would make her TK movement about 'walking speed'

quote:
for DISTANCE/TIME, use the 4.4 conversion.
For a general sense of distance, you can use the 1" = 5'.'

What I'd do is compute the distances with 4.4 conversion, then convert that to meters / Kilometers per hour.

I have no idea what you mean by 'use 4.4 conversion'.

Re: OOC: On the Side

Use this conversion ==> inches per turn / 4.4 = mph

Don't use ==> 1" = 5'

You'll get 42"/turn = 9.5mph

Wse this data to compute your metric conversion.

Pswitch:
I have no idea what you mean by 'use 4.4 conversion'.

Sorry to confuse.

inches per turn divided by 4.4 = mph

4.4 is the magic number to convert movement in V&V.

Yeah, Forge hasn't gotten into the INIT tree yet.

GM, are you gonna add Forge into the scene?

Aha, thought I heard something.

Nah, I think my character is dealing with flying bombs.  A bit distracted.  :D

Sorry for the delay.  Holidays kill me.  I'm still unsure of the system.  Char sheet just needs to be filled out and I'll be good to go.  Will try to figure all that out tonight or tomorrow.

Re: OOC: On the Side

NOTE: Move rates, of any kind, are further divided from "inches per turn" by the number of the characters PHASES PER TURN.

Example: The Molten Man moves at 100" (or, 500 feet) per turn. With his best initiative roll, he comes out in combat with 4 phases, making his maximum normal 25" per Phase. The molten man can move 125 feet in a split second, then make an attack with lava bombs, (or attack and THEN move.) this all occurs inside of your character's PHASE.

The strategy in this is being able to visualize position (we are keeping this warmup combat loose on purpose) and then try to anticipate where combat could go. Visualizing time is also important. though, on the board, a combat could take months? in game, a "Turn" is a few SECONDS. It is granted that you guys can talk, etc. inside of that timeframe.

Think of the inches in movement as a "fund":

Example: The Molten Man is getting punched out by The Invader.. The molten man gets pissed, and decides to burn all 100" of his movement rate for the turn, on a haymaker attack at full speed to the Invader's gut. After making this move, the Molten Man will be stationary for the rest of the turn. He ran out of move rate. He "burned" it, or "spent" it, etc.

Note that Molten Man will still be able to make movement type actions (like drawing his heat gun, and then attacking with it) he just wont be able to physically move.

Re: OOC: On the Side

Being able to work all the conversions and visualize is key. 100mph = 440"/turn = 2200 feet per turn, for example...

Re: OOC: On the Side

Thanks.
'Psi' in VnV is relative and ambiguous; but she is very strong with the TK.

Taking about weights:
Narrator:
each bomb weighs 4750 pounds...

Does anyone know what the average weight of a car is? A truck? A motorcycle?

I don't even know these things in their metric equations.  But I'm trying to get a handle on how much mass Psitch can handle, in a practical sense.

Actually, the bomb would start slow, but in ten seconds would be traveling at 352 kph (about 218 mph). Ten seconds later, it would out pace The Wizard and slow down.

Re: OOC: On the Side

The spell is new, and you said, "I make it weigh ___"  and the magic responds to that. the spell is cast. witha power as variable as spells can be, I use GM option to say that you need to be specific about what happens, and choose your wording the right way. There is no "monkeys paw" twisting of words, or pact with a demon type stuff going on, you just tap into "magic" and can control it, but you need to be specific in both mind and word...
