Re: OOC: On the Side

Do we randomly generate?
Or can we import orphan's from the VnV forum?

And can we get an idea of the game world, so we can theme our characters.

Re: OOC: On the Side

Would you like us to PM possible characters?
Also, if you want random generation, I can give you a set of dice links to help.
    character generation code, rolling 4d6 for characteristics (and dropping the lowest dice)
  1. the post would be typed like this
    The character generation process follows a fairly linear path.
    First you will need to choose your character's race (human or otherwise). This choice can be modified if you change your mind during the process. Then you would need to choose what sex your character is (this could be affected by choice of race, as well). Finally you will need to choose your character's height and weight. Height should be between 4' and 7' while weight should be between 90lbs and 300lbs.
    Then, you will need to use the dice roller, the following links will guide you through the rolls to determine random characteristics. Please roll once for each of the links:
    [dice=4d6 dok=dl drop=1 memo="char roll" text="random characteristic roll"]
    [dice=4d6 dok=dl drop=1 memo="char roll" text="random characteristic roll"]
    [dice=4d6 dok=dl drop=1 memo="char roll" text="random characteristic roll"]
    [dice=4d6 dok=dl drop=1 memo="char roll" text="random characteristic roll"]
    [dice=4d6 dok=dl drop=1 memo="char roll" text="random characteristic roll"]
    Now assign these five numbers to Strength, Endurance, Agility, Intelligence, and Charisma as you see fit.
    Now, we need to find out your powers. The number of powers you get will be:
    [dice=1d6+2 ones=yes memo="powers roll" text="number of powers"]
    To find out what the powers are, you roll percentile dice for each power and compare it to a chart.
    The specific chart to use depends on the source of power desired. The choices are:
    [list][*]Powers (innate abilities)[*]Devices (technological devices)[*]Skills (extreme training)[*]Magic/Psionic Items (mystical devices)[*]Magic/Psionics (innate mystical abilities)[/list]
    For the number of times indicated by the previous roll, choose one of the following links and click to roll.
    [dice=1d100 memo="Powers table" text="innate ability"]
    [dice=1d100 memo="Devices table" text="technological devices"]
    [dice=1d100 memo="Skills table" text="extreme training"]
    [dice=1d100 memo="Magic/Psionic Items table" text="mystical devices"]
    [dice=1d100 memo="Magic/Psionics table" text="innate mystical abilities"]
    One other percentile dice is rolled to determine a weakness.
    Use the following link once:
    [dice=1d100 memo="Weakness table" text="weakness roll"]
    Please copy the results of your rolls and paste into your next post.

Re: OOC: On the Side

Hello.

Is it me your looking for?

Cuz I wonder where you are, and I wonder what you do.

:P

Ready to get to it!  Seems like the game is just getting started and still getting built.

I'm sure we will get more info soon.

I for one would be up for some new random rolling...although I'm usually not super lucky in that area...:)

Re: OOC: On the Side

Random rocks tho!

but I get a feeling it might be slight steered random if anything so we don't end up too powerful for the world.

Re: OOC: On the Side

Yes, random rocks.
Sometimes, so does Lionel Richie.
Did you see the cool names in the private list?
There's a prince, a king, and a colonel. That's all well and goo, but for some reason I am now preparing to warp my character so that I can use the name 'Hero X'

Re: OOC: On the Side

In reply to Hero 3 (msg # 7):

Maybe I'll name my guy Commodore.

At least, until he goes solo.

Then: Lion-El.

He'll be from Krypton.

Not sure why all the Lionel Richie jokes, but I can do this...wait for it...All Night Long.

All night.

Feel good!  Ya feel good!

Re: OOC: On the Side

Random does rock. I leave it up to you guys, the players, to submit a VnV character for approval. You can design it, randomly roll it, design it with me, design it on the roller as outlined above, but bear in mind that ther should be the following guidelines:

1: You get ONE reroll, on anything, at anytime. sometimes you get rerolls as a bonus.

2: If you go Random,

1d6 = 1-3 =male, 4-6 = female
Age is 13 +2d6 (15 to 25)
Weight is 5d6 x10 if male, 5d4 x 10 if female

If you are a robot, all of your stats are 15

If you are an Android, all of your stats are 17

You can pick:

Str: 13, End 13, Agil 15, int 15, Cha 15 to start

or

Str 15, End 15, Agil 15, Int 13, Int 13

Or

Roll 2d10 for each. (2 to 20)

you need a name, a secret id name, and then need to make a total of six percentage die rolls, in a series. This will determine your background/ origin. 80% of you will be from Beacon City, and more than likely will be human, but alien, extradimensional, and out of time backgrounds are possible.

THe world is like our world, science works like our science more or less, but:

1. There seem to be Aliens, of some kind. At least there are powered individuals claiming to be aliens.

2. There seems to be "magic" it is undetermined if it is super psionics or supernatural power at work. people are scared of it.

3. Transportation technology is slightly more advanced in this world than in ours, and this world has a much more robust space program, with permanent space stations at the north and south poles, and a hub at the equator.

4. Governments keep an eye on Superheroes, but dont go crazy and try to register them or anything. The UN maintains the hidden Global superprison.

5. Most people at work in the Superhero field that dont have a record, arent an antihero, etc. follow "The Code". Silver Knight's 1954 book on Superheroics and Ethics. This generally defines "good". It is NOT a requirement, and most younger heroes scoff at its boy scout views.

6. Enhanced individuals have always been around, many theorize, but there was an explosion of them in the post war world (1946+), leading many scientists to speculate on use of atomic weaponry in tests as being a species trigger.

Re: OOC: On the Side

since random can generate a large number of powers, is there a limit to the number we can have?

Re: OOC: On the Side

Technically no. The upper level heroes (Alphaman, etc) are STRONG, and themselves are a dterrent to all out crime war. Part of this game will be control of power, and wise use  of it. i will try to keep as much of a balance as i can. Common sense should apply and so should if you can make it work.
