MM's flight pattern becomes more evasive.

"Identify yourself." Mercury Man says through his PA speakers.

Re: HBC, Issue 1, Chapter 1 "Turmoil is the TIME THIEF"

Sam was driving down Adams Ave.

It was 4am; so it was pretty quiet.
She's pulled an all-nighter at the office, putting together some documents and files for a client.

It was 4am; so it was SUPPOSED to be quiet.
Sam's eyebrows raised in surprise, then, as she sat at the red light ... and watched two prehistoric ally huge moose run through the intersection.

When a group of equally huge Neanderthals charged through after the big bovine, Sam realized it was time to pull over.
Either she'd drunk too much, or this was something that required Pswitch's attention. And Sam was pretty sure she hadn't drunk a thing.

She threw the corvette into reverse, and after checking that there was nobody behind her, she backed up into a street side car park.
Grabbing her special bag forum the boot, she locked the car, and ducked into an alleyway.

Re: HBC, Issue 1, Chapter 1 "Turmoil is the TIME THIEF"

Moments later, Pswitch flew up out of the alley, and swung a high, roundabout arc to follow, and catch up with, the Neanderthal hunt group.

She also took a good look around, while up there, for any aerial threats that might have somehow joined the city's new prehistoric exhibition.

(Pswitch: Roll Phases Please)

Mercury Man sees the two weapons and has a solid track on them, but they will hit any second...

Forge walks as she does every morning at this time, letting the night wash over her, the irony not lost on her that she was once a day person, the sounds of the neighborhood wafting around her, televisions and radios left on, different musics and, what truly catches his attention, a news break. Looking up to she where she is, and doing a mental calculation of distance as well as where she might alight, Forge heads off for Midtown, as fast as she can while even as she tries to keep her fields as local as possible around her so as not to cause more problems as she tries to help.

Re: HBC, Issue 1, Chapter 1 "Turmoil is the TIME THIEF"

OOC: Init 37 MM = PR full, HP full

Mercury Man zooms out of the way of the rockets, then flies after them in hot pursuit.

MM: "Arg, any ideas?  Those are bigger than I can mag-'grab'."
Argonoid: "You don't need to 'grab' the rockets, merely turn them.  I suggest maneuvering them away from innocents and then crashing them."
MM: "Nice.  What would I do without you, Argie-wargie?"
Argonoid: "My function is to enhance your super-hero performance, Stan.  Without me, your effectiveness would suffer."
MM: "Uh, it was a joke.  Nevermind!"

Mercury Man attempts to steer both of the rockets upwards using his magnetic powers, and then crash/detonate them.  MM doesn't attempt to take control of the entire rockets, just their 'steering flaps'.

MM: "Ugh!  This isn't as easy as it looks!"

Re: HBC, Issue 1, Chapter 1 "Turmoil is the TIME THIEF"

OOC: Each multiple attack has a -1 to hit pr extra target, and costs 1 power point per extra target. ALL multiple attacks must hit in order for it to work, if one misses, they ALL miss, and still cost power...

In this case, they BOTH hit, the first shot being "best"

One of the weapons shoots straight up into the air, in a steep climb, and MM can hear the engine straining... the second flying bomb starts to actually slow, but also starts to spiral, and is currently upside down....

each bomb weighs 4750 pounds... you are in contact, but control is another matter... you are way over mag capacity, and can feel the pull... you are now being pulled along with the bombs, in two directions!!!

Pswitch could tell that the flying man was dealing with the rockets; and besides, she couldn't get there in time to influence the situation.

Instead, she turned her attention back to the marauding Neanderthals.

OOC: Init 22, MM = PR = 107, HP = full

MM spots Pswitch downward near the streets.  "I can only handle one of them -- if you can't take the other, you'd better run!"

Mercury Man
follows the rocket that is still flying (& MM  controls the steering flaps) & looks around to see if there are any parks or empty areas, spots a junkyard, and steers the rocket towards that.  "Hey Arg, if this thing demolishes some junk, might be doing a service for the city...?"

Which makes MM have a thought, "Um, Argonoid, can you scan this rocket & make sure it's not a nuclear warhead, just a conventional bomb?  Don't want to nuke the city -- or us."

'Scanning now.'

Pswitch reached out with her mind, and Powers, and tried to take control of the falling rocket.
Pswitch's TK can control 3060 lb; so as these are 4000+, I don't know if she can completely arrest it's movement.
Does this game have any mood for 'pushing' ones powers to greater levels temporarily?

Realising that she probably couldn't  stops its decent, but trying nonetheless, Pswitch tried to slow it as much as possible ... and spin it gently so that it landed bum first (rather than nose first).

Also, don't know if GM missed Forges's post, above

'Still scanning...'
Mercury Man
was flying further up and up behind the rocket.

At least this rocket seemed high enough to not hurt people if it detonated -- assuming it was a standard explosive.

"C'mon, Arg!  You're gonna finish your scan 10 minutes AFTER the bomb has blown up!"

Re: HBC, Issue 1, Chapter 1 "Turmoil is the TIME THIEF"

Robert sits, lotus-fashion, on the coffee table in his living room. The television shows a largish man striking a much skinnier younger man with a captain's hat. Robert, however, doesn't react. He stares at a crystal orb sitting atop the television.
Robert's head snaps up and his eyes open wide. He cocks his head sideways a moment, then smiles and says, "classic". Unfolding from his position on the coffee table, he steps over to the television and takes the crystal. Placing the ball into a pouch, he moves to the window and wraps one of the curtains around his neck as he steps out the window.

Re: HBC, Issue 1, Chapter 1 "Turmoil is the TIME THIEF"

The unusually garbed human flies over the city. Although the blue cape he wears has the same gold paisley pattern as the curtains in some of the apartment windows, there is little else that appears to belong there. The red shirt he wears, more properly described as a tunic, is gathered at the waist by a large leather belt, fastened with laces. His pants are green. His boots, beginning just below his knees and appearing to have no heel, are gray.
While in flight, he makes a beeline for the locus that disgorged the unusual creatures. Although at one point he hovers a moment and wrestles with his cape, he continues on soon after locating, within the cape, a small metallic figurine and tossing it in the general direction of a yellow bin.

Interrupting on the Bomb's phase, a large (pushing 8 feet tall, um.. thick..) woman wearing a skin tight "cat suit" with stylized ears, tail, LEAPS  from a darkened alleyway straight at the stricken V-1, detonating it in a terrible blast that takes out most of the windows on the block, sets a few fires to storefronts and cars.. there is twisted metal shrapnel everywhere... but no sign of the Cat Lady, Who you think could be Black Cat... a north city tanker.

The second V1, caught in a flux of telekenietic / magnetic control fields, gently lights on the pavement, and then makes a spine scratching scraping sound as it drifts along the street, grinding to a halt and then is ominously silent...

MM is 8" above, Forge is 10" away,  Pswitch is 15" away... the remaining bystanders are in a blind Panic... you cannot tell how many...

"ok, it's down, now lets gut it!"
Mercury Man tears into the bomb using his super strength, trying to disconnect the trigger.

"C'mon Arg, scan for that trigger!!"

"Scanning..."

If it went off, hopefully his armor & mag defense might help him survive...
