Shadowclaw closed the door behind them and made sure that Jimmy or someone else wasn't going to eavesdrop on them. When everything looked ok, he turned to Ryan.

"Ok, so I think we need to discuss a few things. I didn't wanna say this before everyone else, since I think we don't need any more drama then we already have. Plus chief- Leafstorm would probably throw a hissy fit.

"Well, let me get straight to the point. Our tactics kind of suck, we suffer some major organizational problems and worst of all is our serious lack of communication. It's a wonder we got as far as we did and I'd rather not push our luck any more. We've already lost Marcus and if we continue like this, it's only a matter of time before someone else bites the dust." Shadowclaw sighs and looks out of the window into the garden. "Look, we can make all the plans in the world, but it won't mean a thing if everyone just ignores them and charges in blindly or runs around like a bunch of headless chickens." With this, he awaits Ryan's answer. He still has more to say, but is curious as to what he has to say to this.

Ryan pauses, and says, "You're right, people haven't been following orders. Lockjaw is the biggest offender there, even my Gift for tactics is meaningless if people don't stick to the plan. He's already broken the Litany, and I'm half considering just dropping him off at the Cairn for an appropriate ritual."

Ryan's decisive planning is the result of a Gift mostly. And the ritual he refers to is the 'ritual of disgrace.' But there really isn't time for that now.

"In addition, you're also right about communication. There's been times I've been flat out wrong or misinformed about who's capable of what. I'm guessing half the time at who'd be most effective for a given task. It makes it hard to give good orders when the capabilities of my pack remain in part unknown."

(OOC:Kinda wish I had access to everyone else's sheet. Sitting around a gaming table, I'd just ask 'who has the highest dex+larceny?' and then go 'right, I order you to do that...')

"Yeah, we do have a lot of problems. Glad you agree."

"As a pack, we have a tendency to... panic? Not sure if that's the right way to put it. Anyway, all it takes is for one thing to go wrong or something unexpected to happen and suddenly everyone goes crazy and caution goes to the wind, with everyone doing whatever they want. And at that time, we need someone to yell at them and tell them to stop with their bullshit and fall in line."

"Let's take Uriah's house. We had perfectly good intel, we knew about a secret tunnel and how to get there. But all it took was Lockjaw going berserk and suddenly, we are charging the vampire's haven in Crinos. And not only that, we charge from across the street. Where the vampire's minions had a clear shot at us and had plenty of time to prepare. We could have ignored them and sneak inside through the secret exit. Or ambush them and take them out quickly. Instead, we chose the worst possible option just because someone was impatient and wanted to jump into the fray. If those guys had better equipment we would have been toast."

"And I am not even talking about what happened inside. I snuck in through the secret exit, but everyone just HAD to be the one to eliminate the vampire and that one ghoul, so they couldn't let me take care od it and make sure it's safe first. As such, they sprung the trap and alarmed them to our presence. And that moment when everyone suddenly decided to search the entire house for loot instead of maybe grabbing a few things and getting the hell out of there was just great. Not to mention that Chief - I mean Lefstorm - wanted to pick a fight with that approaching army of SUVs."

"And did you hear what happened to Luke's group when we were split up? Well, they told me. One freaking vampire with a silver knife almost destroyed them all. Instead of attacking him as a pack, they all split up and let Chief and Sean deal with him alone. And instead of doing it the simple and effective way, they tried some stupid kung-fu maneuver, where they wanted to throw him through a window into the street, like it was some action movie. From what I was told, it really seemed like they cared more for glory then getting the job done."

"What I am saying is you need to step it up, Ryan. When they do stuff like this, it's your job as an Alpha to get them to stick to the plan. So far, you have been waaaaay to lenient."

The Shadow Lord sighs and turns away from the window. He said what needed to be said, but still there were other matters to address. "It is indeed bad that we can't be sure what everyone is capable of, that needs to be solved. As for Lockjaw..."

"Look, this wasn't the first time he did this. The first time I had to throw myself before a raging pack of get and Lockjaw to save the situation - I'm sure you appreciate it - and since then it's only gone downhill. So far, you've been all like "I am very disappointed in you, Lockjaw", but it doesn't seem to work much. So you need to punish him. Or atleast yell at him a bit. Make him understand that this is serious. If you want to invoke the Litany and claim that he broke it, then I suggest you talk about it with Sean, he knows it better then anyone.

I propose that right now we have a meeting in the Umbra, the whole pack together with our totem spirit. You tell everyone to get their act together and then you will deal with Lockjaw. If it works and he finally understands and doesn't do anything like that on our next mission, then good. If not, then I am sure we will have enough time after our mission to perform any rituals in the sept that you deem appropriate."

"Also, since Marcus is with Gaia now, our pack lost it's Beta. You need to choose a new one."

(OOC: I guess we could just ask everyone what they are good at? Or copy our sheets to character description.)

OOC: There will be NO copying of character sheets to descriptions! Talking in character with each other is fine, but I will not have this turned into; "Hhhmmm you have six dice in sneaking and I only have five so I will get you to do it". I won't have players seeing each other as a bunch of dots on the page.

In reply to Shadowclaw (msg # 4):

"I wouldn't call it panic...people don't usually give in to the wolf...though that has happened.

As for Lockjaw, "I'm fairly certain directly disobeying orders in wartime is a Litany breech. I'll confirm it with Sean, but it's among the more obvious breeches. Doesn't take great knowledge to know that just isn't done. Once that's resolved, perhaps we can stick to plans better. Most of them fall apart because he jumps in. While there are other problems, I'll deal with those as they come up. Taking care of Lockjaw will allow me to isolate the rest of the problems better. Most of them shouldn't require such a harsh response, as everyone else doesn't have such a thick skull and will listen to reason a little better."

What happened when he split the pack into two teams is...disappointing. "I get why they did that. They wanted a better story to tell at the next moot for why they've done more glorious deeds. They'll get no wisdom doing that, though. I need to remind them of that. Nobody becomes Fostern without showing some wisdom. Not even Ahroun."

Ryan halfsmiles, "I have someone in mind for the Beta position." After all, he HAS been observing things. "And the Umbra meeting needs to happen. I can not be running blind on who has what skills."

For all that, though, Ryan seems...tired, somehow. Not at his physical peak, at least.

"Very well then, glad we are on the same page. I'll just go take care of a few things and then we can have that meeting. We should get this over with ASAP." With that, Shadowclaw walked out of the room and rejoined the rest of the pack.

Ryan also heads back out to the main area. There's much to discuss.
