Stefan Von Frankenstein:
That is actually cool Artemis.
Thanks very much! Yeah, I had a lot of fun with it. I took it pretty in depth, discussing how original vampire creatures (called revenants) were thought to be sexually voracious beings who would come back to ravish their still living spouses. This was actually due to the-shall we say male response....to the decomposition process. So when people dug up the corpses to check and see if there was a vampire causing whatever problems they were blaming on them, lo and behold they would see some pretty messed up stuff that actually made it look like they were alive, hence the connection in the first place. I got a lot of material from a book called "Vampires, Burial and Death", and it details (quite graphically) how the decaying process actually started a lot of the legends due to people misunderstanding the science behind it. It's a really excellent book. Sorry, vampires have long been my passion. Shouldn't have gotten me started ;)
Penny, you can feel free to mention the Great Mr. Holmes. It's only fair and it should make it quite fun! And as for last season, don't worry I already watched the whole thing in like 5 days. I bought it the day it came out and whipped through it, so last season is very much ok to discuss! I personally think they'll make Crowley a goodish guy and hopefully more of a regular because he's pretty hilarious and that would be awesome. I guess you'll find out before I do.... :(
Simon- I only read Frankenstein once a long time ago and really enjoyed it, but I didn't even think to read so deep like that. You may have something there! I figured in the game I would make him the result of science mixed with the occult so he is a bit of a mixture of a highly intelligent golem/zombie/reanimated corpse. I'm still kind of playing around with it actually. I may have to lean a bit closer to flesh golem now....And don't worry, book nerdy-ness is a very fine trait! I'm going to have to read it again when I get the time. Some of the classic horror stories were ridiculously good. I loved Dracula, as you can imagine, and HP Lovecraft had some stories that were downright disturbing!
Oh crap- on an unrelated side note there is nothing worse than seeing a spider, running to get something to gish him, and then having him mysteriously disappear when you return. I suddenly want to vacate this room....
