... while I get all of the handsome and fun new players that come along! Yay!

*Creepy giggling!* We'll see about that 'handsome' bit now, won't we...? <3

Josephine seems like a nice girl. I can't wait to get together and braid her hair and go shopping and have monster-hunting sleepovers, ooooo it's gonna be GREAT.

B-but you two are boys. Like, ew!

Well... with a frilly enough dress and some light make up, I think we can work something out... surely a man of the cloth doesn't mind if that cloth is silk ruffles, right? <3

... what do you mean, "no?!"

Re: ooc: volume 2

Hmm...

Well, shedding my IC persona for a moment, since Ezri the character does not interact with you the player that doesn't really do us much good pertaining to frilly dresses.

I won't be joining the party immediately. I'm waiting for a specific cue before I make my debut. What can I say to brace you for the horror to come... ah, I know. Ezri "challenges perceptions." Not that she's physically challenging to perceive, though she's certainly that too!

Looking forward to seeing ya'll IC!

And hello Ezri! That name sounds familiar somehow, i.e., like our illustrious GM's. :) I look forward to seeing you in action.

We happen to have drawn the inspiration for our names from the same source. She changed the spelling; I didn't.

Yup! You're just lucky I'm so wonderfully kind and let you keep it for your character, ;p Every time I see it I think for a second it's me, even though I do spell it differently. Ah well, we both just have good taste in names!

Re: ooc: volume 2

We are all lucky to be here.
Simon is named for Simon of Cyrene, who helped carry Jesus' Cross.
http://www.whatistruth.info/th...t/simonofcyrene.html

Simon is a very interesting character. his sons are known to the late 1st century Church so we assume he converted. How would it be possible he did not after such an experience? I envy him, to have been so close to God, to have given God aid...I am in awe. =-)

I just realized that I basically posted a gif that I THOUGHT was a fist pump, but it looks like a hand-job, and Simon saved me with a good, wholesome post following it! Thank goodness, haha!

Re: ooc: volume 2

I'm afraid I only named Penny for the Penny Dreadful line. I came up with it years before the Penny Dreadful TV series, and I don't think anyone else has thought to actually name a character "Penny Dreadful". :)

Jo, I didn't realize that either (the hand gesture I mean) so I'm not any better! I can be pretty naive in that regard!

And yes Penny, I can definitely vouch that you came up with it before. I'm pretty sure I remember it coming out afterward and thinking it a funny coincidence. You'll always be the original in my book! :)

Yea, its a commonly used descriptor for british publications WAY back before I think any of us were alive (I hope!):

quote:
penny dreadfuls, a type of 19th-century British fiction publication with lurid and sensational subject matter.

Also a song name:

quote:
"Penny Dreadfuls" by Animal Collective,

Re: ooc: volume 2

Yeah, that's where it came from in the game too, the books. But in reference to a character named it, it's the first I've come across.

Re: ooc: volume 2

Also, just so the newcomers know, I tend to post on tuesdays and thursdays. I will probably post a bit more for a while since we're getting things started and such but over the weekends I'm pretty dead save perhaps an ooc or private message here and there. The joys of sharing a computer with a husband who does online college...

Anywho, just so you don't think I fall off the face of the earth every weekend :)

Re: ooc: volume 2

If you know where to shop it is possible to get a quality desktop computer for under a hundred bucks. If you have a MicroCenter near you (they're nationwide but fairly rare) you can walk in and ask about refurbished business computers. Small businesses usually rent computers in bulk and turn them in once the lease expires for upgraded models, and those computers are then refurbished and resold at a steep discount. Of course that's just for the tower; you might still need to acquire a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and maybe speakers via other means.

Re: ooc: volume 2

Yep, I loved the pun. :) I originally suggested it for a friend's character, a tiefling (demon-tainted race) in D&D. After she was done with it, I re-used it for Penny. I think a children's book may also have named a character Penny Dreadful, but it's hard to Google now with the popularity of the TV series.

I originally had Penny be a collector of penny dreadfuls, like an 1800s comic book fan of Varney the Vampire and the rest. It didn't come up much in play, unlike her spoon-collecting and cross-stitching hobbies.

By the way, "Penny Dreadful" is a nom de guerre, my idea being that European hunters adopt pseudonyms (because some vampires are in the nobility). No, she has the perfectly ordinary and not at all ominous real name of Penelope Darkmoor. ;)

Re: ooc: volume 2

Thanks for the tip Ezri! Yeah, it's so dumb. My husband is an IT guy, a pretty dang good one too, and I can't get any computer help from him! My computer died about a year ago and he's been too busy to fix it. Can't for the life of me get him to get me a printer either. Sheesh! He's nearly done with school though so now I can bug him without guilt. Man it would be nice to have my own computer back!
