Re: ooc: volume 2

You didn't miss much. You, Lily, Ian and Penny are in Central Park in the middle of a rainy night with a wagon and Emma Bentley's headless body under a tarp in the back being questioned by a police officer. Penny just told a brilliant lie so things are looking well. How funny that you didn't miss much. But there was a lot of private conversation between Penny and Ian while you and Lily prepped the wagon.

Glad to have you back :)

So glad you like her! She's by far my favorite npc. Fortunately you'll be joining the others in the next week or so and then everyone can enjoy her spunky splendor ;p

Sorry sweetie, but my claim supersedes your own. Simon is officially courting her and she is a one man woman. ;-)

Alright, so step 1: make Father Cole cheat on Lily.

Step 2: World domination.

On it.

...Not with Penny.

I enjoy the banter between Ian and Lily. Good NPCs have lives outside the PCs. :)

When are Josephine's and Colin's threads occurring in relation to ours? Before or after? Obviously, they can't die in one thread...

Re: ooc: volume 2

Thanks! Glad to hear it! I tend to enjoy my NPC's as it's my way of playing. It's really hard to find good games out there so I never get to just be a player. Gotta have fun somehow!

As for timeline Colin is about four days prior to your thread but he's in upstate NY. Jo is about a week prior. She'll join you in the near future.

I've decided I'm way too chicken to live alone. My husband has a work emergency and won't be home til 3am and every little noise is freaking me out. My mind goes to demons first then ghosts then psycho killers. I shall be sleeping with the lights on.

Re: ooc: volume 2

Yea, but for that hour... Simon's life would be a living hell :)

And who knows. You don't have to prove anything, you just lie effectively enough, and suddenly, the girl's trust in Simon is shot, or at least questionable. Going from 100% trust to 99% trust is debilitating, in terms of "chinks in the armor".

Its a slow-play game, mwahaha, and I'll rule the world in a matter of... well probably centuries, but still!

Goodness you are evil! And here I thought Jo was so nice!

I know what you mean about slow though. That's the flaw of play by post, sigh. I miss old school tabletop! You get things done. Plus I always had my lucky dice.

Re: ooc: volume 2

Oh no, I was just teasing, haha, I'm terrible at being evil. In fact, I've recently joined an evil game where players are private messaging me to TEACH me how to "properly" be evil, because apparently I'm too nice, and everyone can tell I'm easy pickings, haha.

I don't like being evil, and I'm terrible at it in RL and in gaming. I just do my best to shake things up a bit in the OOC :) In the back of my mind, I'm thinking things like "Ooh, Simon must be a really nice person, I'd love to be on his team!" but in the OOC, I try to act feisty :P

And I meant "slow-play" not in terms of the game, just in terms of my world domination, haha, my fault!

I do the same thing as a GM, and try to play through good NPCs. Fortunately, my PCs also enjoy it. :)

I could never play an evil game, I just wouldn't like my PC and couldn't enjoy the campaign if I can't expect a happy ending. And it would be dull. Of evil or dark characters, I prefer those who've been redeemed or reformed. That's a more interesting story.

Good to know Josephine. I find it interesting that Vampires are not Damned. Perhaps because they are unintentionally becoming vampires? That would be intriguing to explore IC, the whys of it I mean.

Re: ooc: volume 2

Lol, no worries Jo! I knew you were being feisty and rather enjoyed the banter ;P

Yeah, I'm pretty bad at being evil too. When NPCing bad guys I try to make them bad but I always tend to make them similar. Got to work on that. I've been writing a couple of stories and the villains are the hardest part. You have to avoid the  monologing megalomaniac stereotypical archetype found in so many films and books. I love the villain in The Incredibles when he said, "You've got me monologing!" So funny.

I know what you mean Penny. I very much prefer happy endings. Sometimes I will deal with dark endings when the storyline is good enough but overall I do want things to end well.

And Simon yes, vampires are quite different in Supernatural. I will have to get deeper into it for sure. One of my favorite episodes on the show was when Sam beheaded one of the vamps with a piano wire. Pretty awesome stuff.

Re: ooc: volume 2

I give all NPCs, even villains and mooks, their own motives, needs, and stories, and have them act accordingly. Some run, some surrender, some switch sides or fight to the death. Good villains don't know they're villains. I swear, my PCs now try to save all the bad guys and take them prisoner, just to hear their stories or see if they might be friendly. Which works well when they're the kind to trick and corrupt via conversation and persuasion...

I still remember the barbed wire. Erk. The series seems less grisly now.

Re: ooc: volume 2

I need to work on that. Practice makes perfect right?

Oh yeah, I think it was barbed wire wasn't it? You're right it does seem less violent now, probably because they are dealing with angels and demons so much versus other things. I'll never forget the episode with that haunted hotel thingy where that guy fell down the stairs and his head twisted around backward and broke his neck and his mouth was opening and closing cause he was still alive somehow. That actually upset me at the time so much I had to pause it and freak out a bit. Unfortunately I'm getting a bit desensitized now. I blame the walking dead, that show will harden anyone. I think the reason that scene upset me so much is because I just felt really bad for the poor guy. Some things still get to me and if there is ever an animal involved, forget about it, not ok. I can't watch that stuff. So I still have a little bit of my humanity left right? Right...?

Has anyone ever seen the Killing? It's a completely wonderful amazing show but it is so gritty and depressing that it can really bring you down if you're not careful. It's always raining in it too since it takes place in Seattle and no one ever smiles either, surprising how that can wear on you when there's so little humor to break it up. The last season was so bad we actually had to take a break from dark shows and we watched Muppet Treasure Island. I think balance is important with entertainment sometimes. That's why I love big bang theory, just good old fashioned geeky laughs.

I couldn't watch the Valentine's / Horseman of Famine episode. D:

Yeah, I tend to balance my viewing, preferring something light and simple when I'm stressed or to follow something very intense or complicated. I also try not to watch two series at the same time if they have a similar theme.
