Pulling out her pistol, Josephine looked at it nervously, and back at her attacker,

"Seriously, please stop! I don't want to hurt you! We can talk about this!" she said, holding a hand out, pleading with him.

Chapter 8.5

Simon, your shot rings true and she staggers, clutching at her wounds. In the meantime though her spell has hit you hard. You feel your bones creak and groan, as though some unseen force is trying to rip them from your very body. The pain is agonizing and you find yourself shaken and trembling. . Meanwhile the witch rushes to the wall behind her and with a mutter the wall opens up, revealing a staircase going down. Two of her thugs rush in front of her to block your way to her. You'll have to aim well if you hope to get another shot before she escapes.

Jo, the man sneers at your attempts and lunges at you, stabbing you in the side with his knife, though luckily not mortally by any means. Shoot him! Lily shouts, still wrestling with her foes.

Chapter 8.5

Simon, unfortunately her men provide her enough cover that she ducks down the stairway, though she leaves quite a trail of blood after her. Your bullet does hit one of the men squarely though and since he's already been wounded quite a bit he sinks to his knees and puts his hands up in surrender, barely alive. The second man darts after his mistress. You can give chase if you wish...

Meanwhile Lily manages to finish one of her foes and shakes her head at Josephine. We are going to have to work on that. Now keep trying! Even you have to get lucky sometime! she grunts. Fortunately you are able to dodge your opponent, who looks amused at your lack of aim.

ooc: Next round. Simon you can either pursue or help with the last couple men here. Jo, good luck! You seem to be lacking it! ;)

Chapter 8.5

Simon: You go chasing after down the narrow winding staircase. It's a miracle you don't fall and break your neck on the steep things. You emerge outside on the street behind the house and see the limping woman scurry down the road, eyes wide and fearful. Her man is trying to help her but seeing you followed rushes toward you, trying to grapple you...

ooc: You have one round before he makes it to you so you can try to shoot him if you wish. After that go ahead and make an opposed grapple check.

Jo: You actually do shoot the man in the leg to your delight and his surprise. Lily laughs and congratulates you. Now do it again! she orders as she's slammed into a glass window, the pane shattering behind her. Fortunately your foe is quite shaken by the gunshot and he starts to back off towards the door uncertainly.

"No, he's leaving! Can't I just let him leave? I don't want him to die! Sir, lay down! I won't hurt you, I promise!" she said, waving her gun menacingly around in circles at him, hoping he'd lay down.

Chapter 8.5

Simon: The witch falls down as if dead, slumping in the middle of the road. By now the man has you in a hold, but as you grapple he notes his seemingly dead employer and the distraction is more than enough for you to free yourself.

ooc; I rolled a second round of grapple for him and he got a one...sigh. I'm just really bad at rolling these days!

Jo: ooc: Wow, she is hilarious! I can just imagine it all in my head!

Actually knowing you it might be preferable she grunts, still dealing with her last foe who is trying to strangle her. Alright at least point your gun at this one! Though don't you dare shoot unless I-gnuhhhh!! her words are lost in a gurgle as she struggles to breathe, the massive man's hands wrapped tightly around her neck, the color going out of her face.

Chapter 8.5

The man looks at his mistress, clearly wanting to check on her, then back at you and decides perhaps he doesn't want to join her after all. He raises his hands in the air with a glare. You may have me and my employer, but there are many loyal to her in these parts. You will have a lot of trouble because of this he warns.

Jo: ooc: Lol! What a kook Jo is! I rolled for you btw and you did quite well!

You rush forward and manage to pull one of his fingers back enough that he loosens his grip. Lily responds by bashing her forehead into the man's nose and he stumbles back, holding his face. The Indian then grabs your gun and levels it at him, still breathing raggedly. Good work Jo. Though you probably could have just hit him with something. We'll work on it... she pants. You can see the bruises already forming on her neck. Now you had better not move or I'll blow your face off. I am not squeamish in the least I assure you she growls at her attacker. He sits down cooperatively but glares daggers. Would you be so kind as to tie him up Josephine? Might I recommend the curtain cords? she gestures with her head to the window. ooc: go ahead and roll a use rope check.

Chapter 8.5

"Ok!" Josephine responded eagerly, inwardly glad that she'd prevented a murder. With that, she grabbed the curtain ropes, and tried to tie the man's arms behind his back, so he wouldn't be a threat to them. She had no idea what she was really doing, as the only tying experience she had was on herself, and more kin...

She shook her head clearing that thought. No time for that now! When she finished, she showed Lily for approval.

Chapter 8.5

Simon: The man complies with a glower, but you know he'll use any opportunity you give him to escape and so you watch him warily. The woman is bleeding out. Not dead yet but she will soon be if no one intervenes.

Jo: Lily watches as you truss the man up, checking your work when you're done. She tightens a few things here and there but overall she is satisfied. Alright, go and lock the door. Who knows how many more of these fools are wandering about she mutters. As you do so she moves to the bed where the still prostrate and unconscious Victoria lies. With a grunt she kneels by the bed and pulls her over her shoulder, panting and scowling. For a brief uncertain instant she tries to stand and her green eyes widen with worry that she'll fall over, but determination wins out and she stands upright, now much more solid in her carry of the woman. Alright, let's see if we can go down those stairs without dropping her shall we? she mutters. Indeed, as you traverse the narrow escape passage downstairs she often has to stop and ask you to steady the woman. It is quite a little adventure in and of itself. At last you reach the exit, finding yourselves outside on the grounds. Across the street you see Simon bent over and investigating the still body of the witch. Go help him. See if he needs anything she gestures.

Chapter 8.5

Simon's shot hits true and the man groans in pain, much more subdued now that he realizes just what he's dealing with. You are able to stabilize the witch for the time being. She will need a doctor though to be sure. Across the street you see Lily with Victoria slumped over her shoulder and looking very tired. Josephine is approaching too. In the distance you see on comers, no doubt curious as to the shots and the noise. What a mess.

Chapter 8.5

ooc: Hahahahahaha!! Oh no!! Your pursuers rolled a natural 20...07:52, Today: Secret Roll: Artemis rolled 20 using 1d20.

At first you seem to do well, running down the street and away from the crowd. A few concerned men rush after you, however, followed by a street cop who had been hailed by all the ruckus and gunshots. Before long you find yourselves in an ally, men surrounding both exits, guns drawn. Hands up! Why are you kidnapping these women!? Seeing they are both black, the officer looks all the more curious. In New Orleans though, it is more common at least, and you doubt you'll skate off much better no matter what the color of their skin.
