Ok, advice please.

So as you know I hang out with my aunt every week. She's a bit out there sometimes...anyway my husband and I just had a massive argument about letting her drive during our outings. She's insistent about doing it and my car is hard on her back so she won't go in it. Long story short, my husband has forbidden me to ride with her because she can be somewhat inattentive when she drives and on occasion she's a bit reckless. For instance a few years ago she went the wrong way on a two way street with a divider...so how do I figure this all out without upsetting her? I see her weekly so it is a recurring problem.

Oh WOW.

Well first it seems to me that your husband is doing what he is suppose to do, that is protecting you as his wife. I believe it is in most vows, "Love, Honor, Cherish, and Protect" so he is not just being a jerk, even if it came across that way.

Your aunt might need to be sat down and gently showed how her actions could harm others. This is going to meet with push back. She is going to feel that she is being treated like a child. She may not ever forgive you.

There really is no way around this, IMHO. Your husband is doing the right thing, even if he went about it the wrong way. Your aunt will likely push back, but she may come around.

My two pennies.

What a mess. I already had to tell her I can't be around her smoking and I know she was hurt by that. It's like she's trying to kill me or something! Ha! Thanks for your advice, I always appreciate feedback!

On another note, I will sadly have to post tomorrow instead of today. I unexpectedly have to help my sister move. So sorry everyone!

Thanks so very very much! You are all so good to me.

Yeah, it's been extra tough for her lately. My uncle died last year as you may recall and there have been a lot of unpleasant reminders. In October it was what would have been their anniversary, then thanksgiving. In a week or so it would have been his birthday then 5 days before christmas will be his death anniversary, then of course there's christmas itself, and lastly at the end of december is HER birthday. So an already hard time of year made considerably harder. On top of that she has some major pain/health issues that frequently keep her house bound and she's been going a little nuts because of everything.

My advice: Take care of yourself while you're young. I try to plan ahead for my aging (mostly successfully...) since I have seen how bad it can be and as a personal trainer I know the mistakes so many people make. Her health issues make this way harder than it should be and since they were mostly preventable, it's really hard to think of how things could be different for her if she'd not taken the path she's on. It's just plain sad.

This is known as a twist draw. The actor must have practiced it a lot before the move because he gets it exactly right and it takes tons of practice. I've been at it for four years off and on and I still can't get it right. I prefer behind the back Mexican style, but that is just me.

Certain people may opt to simply "always succeed" and that must be followed by the GM, because even with a year straight of that, it still would barely balance out at like 40% victories.

The backdoor pilot for the Wayward Sisters spinoff was on last night. I liked it, it really fit the Supernatural style while being new and focused on the girls. It was better integrated with the series than the last attempted spin-off, by reusing characters long established in the series, while introducing the new characters over a few episodes.

Haha! No promises Jo!!

So I'm writing a book and I have a question. Which do you think is better, a meaningless death or a meaningful death? Basically one of the characters dies in battle simply because it's a battle and it's realistic. One of my beta readers thinks they should die saving someone instead because it would feel more meaningful. My argument is that crap happens and it's much more realistic for it to come out of the blue and surprise you. It almost seems cliche the other way. But as readers what do you prefer? Thanks!

Either way can work, but it depends on the situation and what you're aiming for, what theme the book has and what point you're trying to make. A critique of war might make it pointless and tragic, while one about people supporting each other might have the rescue.

Irish. Think Debra Ann Woll from True Blood or the Daredevil NEtflix series:

But slightly more masculine, meaning less pretty, and much more cowgirl than model chick

Thanks! Good advice! I ended up kind of mish mashing the suggestions so that she dies while distracted warning someone else. So it's not the overdone diving in front of an arrow or bullet situation but it hopefully is less meaningless. Thanks everyone!

And I finally saw Daredevil btw. She's really good in that so I think I get what you're looking for Alice. At least we'll find out if I do...Same strawberry blonde hair then? Not that I plan on coloring it...

By the way, I should have mentioned this like five years ago, but if there's anything you as players want to be involved in the story sometime I can try to incorporate it down the road. Example: let's say you want to deal with zombies, I'll eventually give you a zombie encounter. If you don't care and you're fine with how things are that's great but I do want to cater this to your needs somewhat too. That said, no dragons and flaming bears Jo.

On another note, I should have mentioned that I'm on a staycation for my 10th anniversary. So if I don't get to post until next week it's because I'm too busy playing video games or going out for sushi, hahaha!

Then, next week it turns out one of my coworkers at my job I cover for broke her ankle playing roller derby so I will probably be busy then too, covering for her. Sigh. I'll try to post when I can though.

And thanks everyone. I'm getting kinda stressed about it all. They keep adding more and more days that they need me and they're all pretty crucial for them. I can't wait for the middle of April when this crap should be over! On top of that I have a sick hedgehog I have to force feed (not fun) and a barbershop quartet competition next week that's really scary and a bunch of other stupid stuff in between. So just assume I'll be posting in chunks until things settle down. I'll have to make it up to you when all is done! :)

As for the rest of you, I may not get a chance to post this week. I'm helping my sister renovate my hoarder mom's craft room while she's on vacation and it is going...slow. I was there for 9 hours yesterday and I think I lost a little piece of my soul in the process. We've been working all week and I only have until Friday to get everything done so all my free time is spent there. If I miraculously finish in time or scrape together energy I'll see what I can do though.

Man, it's totally overwhelming! I pulled a shirt off the closet floor and chunks of old dried cat poop went flying everywhere! Clean your closet people! Clean your closet.

And Penny, that sucks trying to give pills! What I used to do is crush them up and mix them with gravy or meat based baby food. Often she’d just eat it on her own. If not you can at least shoot it into his mouth with a medicine syringe. Fun times.

Yeah, I struggled to give my cat his pills, because he also has bad teeth and is just stubborn besides. He'd even spit the pills up later. :o I also hit on crushing him up in his meat, but now the struggle is making him eat his meal on time. He needs one pill three times a day, and the effect only lasts 8 hours. And he's fussy, doesn't like the vegetable flavour, and gets bored of the others, so I need to swap between three or four packets. Cats! Argh!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Penny I had a similar issue with a cat. Mine was a once a day thing, but you might use this if you get desperate.
1) Crush pill in water. I found that making a fluid just thinner than a paste worked best.
2) Suck fluid up in turkey baster
3) Wait for kitty to get in your lap
4) Open (pry open) cat mouth, and squirt in fluid with baster

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Yeah that sucks Penny! I’m sorry you have to deal with that!

Update: Misha is home but I don’t know how long she’s going to be around.  Vet thinks she has cancer but my husband wants a second opinion. So Monday she goes somewhere else. Normally I’d think that unnecessary but the first vet was pretty unprofessional. Still, I don’t have my hopes up and anticipate putting her down next week. We’ll see though. I’d love to be wrong. She can’t put much weight on her hind legs and she needs help to use her litter box and she can’t be left alone unless we lock her up where she can’t hurt herself. So I’m going to probably be out of commission dealing with this for a week or so. If I can make it less I will but I’m just drained. Thanks guys.

Poor puss. :( I remember going through similar issues with my old dog. Good luck with everything.

Is Misha named after Misha Collins? Yeah, I can picture him as a cat. :D

Unfortunately, my cat's not a lap cat, he's a reach-out-your-arm-and-pat-me cat.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Yup! Her name is a combo from Misha Collins and also because she reminded me of a russian supermodel with her high cheekbones and half lidded eyes.

The second  opinion went well. She's improving on her meds and we're going to give her iv fluids twice a week and then let her live as long as she seems happy. The dr said that could possibly even be months, it just depends. She'll probably never be able to jump up on stuff again but she walks well and isn't in pain. When she goes downhill we'll euthanize her but until then we get to spoil her and at least have more time than we thought!

So I have a lot to catch up on but I’ll try to post this week sometime. Thanks for all your support and patience everyone!!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Thanks! Yeah, it will still suck when she goes, but I have more time at least. Unfortunately I have to inject an i.v. bag of fluids under her skin twice a week so that sucks....It's really weird! the fluid gathers under her skin into this big lump and slowly gets absorbed by her muscles! It creeps me out! Plus needles....yikes. The things we do for our animals.

On another note, I will try to post tomorrow. I'm still trying to get my life back together. She can't be left alone because she will fall over when she tries to get on stuff so I either have to follow her around the house or lock her in a bedroom, that we emptied just so she can't get into trouble. There's furniture all over that looks atrocious and things are in disarray RIGHT after I just got done organizing everything! It's driving me crazy! So I'm kind of unmotivated and burned out and blah but I think I can scrounge something together tomorrow. We did get a little ramp for her so she can get back on the couch again. So ugly....

I'm trying to figure out exactly what level people are supposed to be because looking at character sheets I think they're all over the place. For some reason I thought you guys were supposed to be level 11 but I'm only finding bonuses and such for 10. Did I just not add the bonuses yet? How about if you aren't already at level 11 you do so and I'll get off my fanny and add the bonuses soon? It's downright creepy how fast time goes!

Thanks very much Jo! You guys are all awesome :)

Speaking of pace...I was all set to post today but honestly, I'm going through some minor personal stuff that has me completely drained and down this morning. So I'll try to post sometime this weekend. If I don't get a chance I apologize! But I really will try. Thanks as always for your patience.

If it makes you feel better, there are way flakier GM's out there than me? I'm a player in a steampunk game where the guy posts maybe once a month. Sheesh.

My week is crazy and my day is shot to hell. Sorry I didn't get a chance to post today guys. We got a kitten thrust upon us yesterday and she's a huge handful. I really wasn't wanting a kitten to be honest, and it's a transition to say the least but she triggered our friend's PTSD and he needed to find a home for her fast. She's just lucky she's cute...
Oh. And I did my taxes today. Lots of grown up stuff going on. Next week will be a little better, though I should warn you my sister's having her c section...I'm sure I'll be able to squeeze a couple of posts in though! Yay!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Well for my friend having her jump out at him unexpectedly triggered a huge panic attack since he has really bad ptsd from serving in Afghanistan. For me, it’s that I’m not over my old cat’s death yet and I do find kittens to be higher maintenance than I wanted to commit to. My house isn’t really kitten friendly so I’m still trying to minimize the things she can destroy. She’s extremely rambunctious...that said she’s very cute and she seems to be helping my husband with his own anxiety issues (his job is nuts), so she’ll be worth it. I just have to take a chill pill and realize she’s going to get into things and it’s not the end of the world. We were really spoiled with our old cat. She’d sleep on the couch, on a chair or on your lap. The rest of the time she’d be eating or drinking or casually wandering around. She never jumped on anything or got into anything. Ever. She was lazy and mellow and absolutely perfect! ☹️

Ah, okay. I was asking about the PTSD issue, I never imagined something as minor as a kitten could cause such a reaction. And I can understand the stress of winding up with a pet you didn't really want. Well, good luck with the little one.

My cat is mellow like that. After kittenhood, he never did more than wander and poke around a bit. He's 17 years old now, and still moseying around with few signs of stopping.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Yeah, we were all really surprised that this huge buff guy who served in the military was undone by a tiny little kitten, but he really really was. Now, living with her for five days or so, I actually get it. She just pounces out of nowhere and attacks you. For someone with massive anxiety issues (our friend), it's very triggering since his ptsd centers around being unexpectedly attacked, among other things. Unfortunately his girlfriend is having a hard time sympathizing and he may just lose her over this. It's a really annoying situation to be in honestly. He's neglected his mental health too long and it may cost him the best woman he's ever met and WE have to pay the price for it with this little holy terror running around like a maniac. Plus, this is the second girlfriend we've had to help through his ptsd issues. They always come running to us, and I'm happy to help, but it's just not very nice to be so heavily involved in other people's relationships you know? They're grown ups, they need to be able to communicate with EACH OTHER. And I adore our friend, he's an amazing person, but he really needs to put in the hard work and get help or he's going to ruin his life. No one can do this but him. Oh well. At least the dumb kitten is cute, even though she's interrupted this post three times by getting on the kitchen table... ;p

Penny you are really close. You can spend an action point to add 2d6 to that roll. Even if they are average, it would make the roll a 17 which would be a pass. Just consider it because getting that scroll could change this whole encounter.

Thanks. I'll try to get my energy up to post tomorrow. I'm feeling pretty blah over everything. I just found out my sister and brother in law are pretty screwed from all of this. He worked his butt of to open an audiology clinic a couple years ago and was fiiiiiiinally starting to see profits. They are even almost done building a house. Now he has to close his business until this is all over since his patients are typically over 60 and it's high risk to them. So he has to try to find work stocking shelves at safeway and their house is probably going to have to be sold before they can ever move in. I'm really stressed for them. It totally sucks.

Also, your sister is unfortunately right to be worried. My mother in law is a teacher and was told it's quite likely our schools will have to close for the rest of the school year.... Everything sucks!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Yeah. Life pretty much sucks all around right now. You should look up the murder hornets if you haven't seen a picture of them yet. Absurdly big.

As far as my husband's job goes, he's waiting to officially have conversations with everyone for one big showdown. Basically he's talked to HR and they are supposed to have a zoom or in person meeting with him, his direct boss (who he loves), his manager (who he hates), HR and the CEO if she can be bothered to actually come. It's a huge gigantic mess. The idiots in charge are probably going to be stupid enough to not meet my husband and his boss's demands and in doing so, half or more of the IT team are going to quit in solidarity because they all hate the manager too. It's that bad there. My husband will quit by the end of the week if they don't give them a new manager or try to postpone the meeting again. So after this week, we'll probably be jobless. Yikes!

We have a good savings and he's got mad skills so we'll probably be ok, but I'm having flashbacks to when we were first married. The day after our honeymoon (if you could call it that) he lost his job and we had to live on my piddly pet store job for five months before he could find anything. We had 60 bucks in the bank when he got hired at his current job. That was twelve years ago, but the stress and memories come rushing back like yesterday! At least this time we're significantly better prepared. We had saved up a decent chunk of money to do house renovations that got put off thanks to the virus. So now we can use that money to live off of instead and just ignore the ugly floors, hahahaha!

Phew, thanks for letting me vent on here guys. I don't want to admit to my husband that I'm a bit scared for this sudden change in life, but I also support him completely. I've been telling him to rage quit for years.

In the meantime, he's happy for the first time in over a decade :)

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

I may not get to post this week just fyi. My in-laws live near some of the wildfires and are waiting to hear if they need to evacuate. If they do, they will be staying with us, so I've got to get the house ready for the possibility of 3 house guests for a while. It's mostly smoke issues, so I don't think their home is in physical danger, at least. So that's good. But I have no food for these people, and my budget is pretty dang fixed right now because we have no income, so that will be interesting to say the least. Not to mention all the dietary restrictions I have to work around. Sigh. I love my mother in law to death, but I'll have to be on my most G-rated behavior for a while. She's very innocent, so watching remotely grown up tv and saying things like "butt," are also out of the picture, lol. Who knows, I could go through all this work and they won't even need to come. Man, I hate 2020. Stupid humans have ruined everything.

In other news, my husband's old job is bleeding IT team members. They are all starting to drop off like flies for other jobs, and the consulting company they had to hire to replace my husband is charging them 35,000$ a MONTH, so the business is really hurting now. Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Thankfully, the in-laws backed out of coming for now. Of course, that was AFTER I stayed up late cleaning every nook and cranny, all for nothing...There's still a possibility they'll end up here if the smoke gets worse, but I thiiiiiiink we're in the clear for now.... *crosses fingers*

And yes! The company has dug themselves into a wicked hole. Hahahahahahaha! It is extremely satisfying. My husband did tell them when he quit he'd come back as a consultant whenever they needed, but they're too proud and stupid to ever take him up on it, which is just as well. The workers who are left are now finally realizing the situation my husband shielded them from for so long, dealing with the manager, I mean. So they're suddenly a lot more sympathetic, and hence they are dropping off like flies. It's just nice for him to feel validated.

Man, what a crazy year, right? On top of all the world-wide things going on, to have such a huge change in income and career and crap too. So much change! No wonder I'm stress eating English muffin pizzas so much! >:D

Thanks guys, for letting me vent as always!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

So, I wanna talk to you guys about something. It’s been over 7 years that this game is going. I’m thinking we should try to finish up this campaign in 2021. So by the end of the year, we should have wrapped up the storyline and, for the first time as an online GM, I will have finished a story. We’re on the homestretch and I have some pretty epic things planned. What are some things you want to see for your characters before the end? PM me with any requests on that front.

As for future gaming together, after this game I’ll probably take a generous hiatus and then I’ll make a new, entirely different game in the future. If people want the chance to play with me again, they’ll have it. If not, well we’ll always have this awesome 7+ years to remember!

On another note, 7 years of gaming tends to muddle memories and storylines. I’m going to start a new thread soon with a recap of characters, events, and histories so people can refresh their memories for more cohesive playing. I really want to end this last year with the best experiences I can for you. You’ve all been so great, showing up for years like you have.

Thanks! And you've been a great and dedicated GM too.

I'm looking forward to the big finale, the culmination of over seven (by then eight) years of play. It's quite an achievement. Maybe we can play "Carry On Wayward Son" beforehand. :D

But I also wouldn't want to rush things or skip anything good you had planned. Ending naturally and well is enough for me. I think the current phase has begun to wear on me a bit: first we searched for the Ring of Solomon, then we searched for the Key of Solomon, and to find that we searched for two halves of a scroll, which then had us search for the copper scroll, which then had us search for another scroll, and now we need to search for all the parts of that scroll... D: So, maybe no more scroll treasure hunts thanks. :)

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

I think the problem is, everything on rpol takes a million trillion years so what would have worked in tabletop just plain takes too long. I think I’ll delegate some of the npcs to get the rest of the scroll stuff. There were two other pieces but we can divide, conquer, and sum up. Nothing wrong with that.

Not a bad idea actually. Looks like it's been nearly 2 years, lol. I believe you're currently level 11 so go ahead and level up to 12! Though, actually, considering we're on the downswing of this game and you're gonna need it, I'm ok with upping that to level 13 if everyone is ok with that. We still have a few months left, most likely, but why not end with some pizzazz? Your characters have certainly earned it.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

It looks like I'm officially starting college again on March 1st, barring anything catastrophic. The college I'm doing is online, and you pay per semester, not credit. So, I'm going to be stupid and try to cram my bachelor's degree within 6 months...I already have my associate's but that's still 29 classes to complete by then. Yikes. It can be done, others have done it, and I'm going to give it my very best. So, consequently, I'm only going to be posting on my games once a week instead of 2. It won't be that much different, but I wanted to give you a head's up! :D

I'm probably going to start this once a week thing now, since I only have a few weeks to get my crap together. We're also going to try to move this year if we can at all find a house worth moving into. Inventory is historically low, so it's stressful. I think this will be the year I have my first panic attack! So I apologize in advance if on occasion I have to flake. I'm hoping to be done within my timeline, but I won't beat myself up too much if it takes longer. Wish me luck....

So, the pieces are moving and the end game is on the horizon! Soon we'll be at the final battle, for both threads. It will still probably take another month or two of playing, but the end is not far, in theory anyway. So brace yourselves my friends. Eight years. Eight years of playing, my gosh.

Let me know your thoughts on what you ultimately want for your characters, though I think to some extent we've touched on this before. Just let me know if anything has changed. I definitely have plans of my own for them, but I want you to feel satisfied at the end of everything. Also, since we're soon to be on the final push, we might as well make it epic! Level up 3 levels please. There will be a tiny bit of a time jump in the near future, so your characters will have earned it in preparation. I believe this puts you at level 16, so go nuts and really think of how you want to face the final showdown.

I plan to whip out some last character drawings for everyone before then too, and I will put out the spells and hunter bonuses in the near future.

Lastly, Colin, I will finish up your thread next week. I'm trying to get my house ready to put on the market this week so after that my schedule should ease up!

Let's do this everyone!

Thank you everyone! I'm super excited too! And YES Penny! Absolutely must pay homage to that song!

In the meantime, thanks for your patience with me this whole freaking year. We'd be done by now if my stupid real life weren't such a pain. I'm trying to sell my house and keeping it clean and scramming while people look over everything has been very unfun. Who knows how long it will take to actually sell too. Sigh. The joys of real estate...But who cares! I'm off to post some character development for you!

I know, right!? 8 friggin years is a long time! It makes it extra sad that it's over, but also extremely satisfying to have an actual ending. Like when your favorite tv series actually gets to end instead of being canceled, lol.

I have a d&d game that's been going close to 12 years now with no end in sight. When it finally does end in however many years more, it's going to feel reeeeeally weird. I was in my 20s when I started that thing!

Since things are winding down on here, I wanted to be sure I did some final art to celebrate this wonderful time with you all.

Since Colin is done, it seemed fitting to send him off with one last piece. And since Simon and Lily are getting married, I figured I'd post theirs too. I actually drew theirs a long time ago, before I learned better hair techniques, lol. So forgive me!

The other characters will get their time soon. Just gotta draw them first!

So I know I'm super behind on spell lists and hunter bonuses, etc, so I'm going to make this simple. I think I'm 5 levels behind on updating it.
You'll get 5 new action points (1 for each level)
a plus 1 on any skill check
a plus 1 on any save
an additional point of damage on all damage rolls
your crit DC will be lowered by one. So if you normally crit with a weapon at 20, you'll now get to do 19, etc.

Better late than never!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Thanks for the spells and info Simon! I'll transfer it to the new thread and utilize it very soon because you're about to begin fighting.

On another note, since people's schedules have gotten busier lately and posting rates are less than they previously were (myself included) I don't want this final battle to take a million years but I also don't want to feel like it's been rushed and short change the finale either.

Since you still have to actually fight your way to the castle, and you still have to wait it out til it's safer to do so, what do you think of doing an average of rolls to see how well your character does and I can utilize it to write out a generalization of what happens until we get to the epic stuff? Basically you'd roll a d20 three times, adding either your dex, strength or spell casting modifier to each roll. Not the whole score, but the smaller one. Then, I'd average out the 3 rolls to see if you have an easy time or take a lot of damage, etc. You could tell me how your characters would interact, let me know any spells they favor or tactics etc, and I'd do a big write out. Then, we could move on to the siege on the castle and we could maybe roll 3 rounds at a time from there or something? That way the important, epic stuff will be prioritized and it won't take another million years to get through the rest.

Thoughts?

If you're amenable to this, don't bother posting on the new thread yet til we know which route we're going to go.

Just waiting on a post or two, and then we'll move on. I know Kate has some real life stress she's dealing with at the moment, and I'm on vacation all next week. Hopefully after that, things can get back to a more normal schedule. Luckily it's not like we're in a hurry. We have time, so no rush!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

So here's the dealio:

We've been working on selling our house and buying a new one for months now. It's been a nightmare. We finally closed on selling our house last week and we had our dream home lined up to close on the 25th of this month. It was a gorgeous cabin in the woods with 2 acres, a creek, trees trees and more trees, everything we've been dreaming of and it was HARD to find it. It took so much bartering and haggling and work but we had a deal and we were set to have it finalized and be our forever home.

Cue last week. On my birthday, actually. Yay.

We found out there is a boundary dispute that they didn't tell us about. They played it off as nothing at first and we warily asked for more information. They admitted that they're actually being sued by their neighbor because she wants the boundaries redrawn and thinks she's owed more land even though there is no earthly justification for this. She refuses to even pay for the land she wants. She just expects it for free. So needless to say, it's a giant mess. We met with the sellers and the neighbor to try to work things out but the neighbor is stubborn and there's something majorly off about her. So we are withdrawing and now don't have anywhere to live. We have to be out of our current house in 2 weeks so we're scrambling to find a rental and everything is a giant mess. I've honestly never been more stressed in my entire life.

So, needless to say, my posting shall be sporadic. I'm sure by mid August things will settle down. They kind of have to! And I'll still try to post here as much as I can, but I'm giving you a heads up on my flakiness now so you don't think I've forgotten you guys!

Oh, and I'm also waiting for Kate to post still, lol! ;P

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Ok, so I think next week I should be good to post. Since life is getting pretty nuts for people, I will definitely be expediting the battle, unless people vehemently object. I'm thinking we'll do 3 big posts with averaged rolls to determine how well you do. I'll be providing narration on how things go so it will be something we still play out but with much less rolling.

Obviously I know Alice won't be available to post til October, but at least this way we'll have the first post in place to get the ball rolling.

Also, while we're at it, start thinking about your character's epilogue while you're at it. I will be doing a big post at the end of the game for everyone and I'd love to get your wish lists and ideas!

Also, no rush if people are busy! You can either have me roll for you or, if it's too much work to look up what stats to add to your rolls and such, you can just make 3 general rolls and I'll do the rest myself. No hurry, however.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Wonderful post, Penny! Per usual! I love the mental image of the whole scene!

And Alice, basically you're all fighting your way through central park to the part where Belial is. I believe you're on horseback, following Penny. Kate and the NPC's are in her jeep as she brought it along for the ordeal. She's basically freaking Rambo for this, lol. I figured for the finale we needed to go big or go home. It's gotta be an epic end!

So here's a copy/paste of what I need from you:

"I need 3 rolls. Add your dex or strength mod or whatever mod you use depending on your dominant skill that you use for your attacks (such as if you're using magic etc). You can also use some action points to help your rolls. If you have bonuses, like Penny-who rolled with the hero's plan talent, you can add that too. Give me the three totals and I'll average it out.

Plan is the first 3 rolls tell you how rough cutting through this army is going to be. Then, I'll let you know how you fared. We'll need 3 more rolls to deal with the Hecate fight after that (wait til I tell you to do those ones) and then we'll deal with Belial.

Also, really start thinking about your epilogue wish list. I'll need those before you know it...."

So basically give me your 3 rolls, let me know if you have any tactics you're leaning toward and I'll sum up how you do before we move on and do it again with Hecate.

I would absolutely love if you wrote your side battles! You have a lot of leeway throughout this, since I want this whole end sequence to be special. There's very little I'll be saying no to at this point, lol!

I'm just waiting on one more set of rolls and then I'll move us along. In the meantime, feel free to post your side battle as desired, Penny. Anyone else who wants to follow suit may do the same but if you're busy I can do it for you based on the rolls I get from you.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Just waiting on a couple of posts. If either of you need me to roll for you, I can totally do that!

Also, I apologize in advance if I'm a touch flaky. I'm waiting for MRI results to see if I have a brain tumor. It's noncancerous if I do have it, but it will be rather unpleasant to deal with and the side effects of the medication will be absolutely wretched and I'll have to take it at least a couple years if not life-long. If that doesn't work, I'll need radiation and/or brain surgery. So...fun. That is, IF I have it, which the doctor seems to think I do.

On top of that, I was diagnosed with endometriosis that I'll probably get surgery for too. So....bit of a crappy year already.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Thank you!! That's so kind!

I'm lucky that the prognosis is good. It's not cancer but if left untreated it could grow and cause vision loss and give me early osteoporosis, not to mention how much it has jacked up my hormones. So they will want to treat it. The meds may have mild side effects like nausea and dizziness/fainting, or they could go to the extreme where you literally feel like you're going crazy and have hallucinations and impulses that are hard to control. Soooo...fun? Luckily most people have the mild side effects so I'm sure I'll be fine!

I also got diagnosed with endometriosis so I may be having surgery for that this spring. Good times.
